During a recent edition of Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend, the former Tonight Show host revisited his episode with Danhausen several years ago. O’Brien also congratulated Danhausen on his success and signing with WWE. Below are some highlights (via Fightful):
Conan O’Brien on Danhausen Basing His Character on Himself
“Danhausen explained to me, when we did this very first fan episode, that he had loosely based his wrestling character on me if I was an interdimensional demon, which seems redundant to me. Danhausen and I had a great conversation. We talked about comedy, performance, a love of entertaining people. What struck me, and I remember this to this day, Danhausen told me he had been grinding away for the past eight years, driving 12 hours every weekend just to be able to get in front of people and wrestle. This is a guy who applied incredible work ethic to his passion. I was so impressed with this fellow.”
On Danhausen Making It to WWE
“Now, it’s five years later, and I’m thrilled to report that Danhausen has recently made his WWE debut to rave reviews. This is proof again that if you can marry hard work to your passion, you can go places. On behalf of myself and all of us here at Team Coco, massive congratulations and mad respect to Danhausen. I’m so proud of you, happy for you, and I should mention that since your character is based on me, I’m getting 20%.”
As previously reported, Danhausen also received a special gift from Madison Square Garden earlier this week, commemorating the very nice, very evil wrestler making his MSG debut.
