Cook’s Lucha Libre AAA Review 2.21.26

Then. Now. Forever. Together!

Two weeks ago, Dominik Mysterio came out and took credit for the new era of AAA. El Hijo del Vikingo disagreed, and set up a contract signing for tonight.

Dominik Mysterio is WALKING! El Hijo del Vikingo & El Ojo DISCUSS THINGS OUTSIDE! El Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. is WALKING! Corey Graves, JBL & Rey Mysterio are our hosts.

Latin American Championship Match: Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. vs. Belcegor: Wagner offers the open challenge & talks about the Wagnermaniacs. Belcegor hits a dropkick, but runs into a boot in the corner. Belcegor clotheslines Wagner, then hits the Ego Trip. Wagner starts firing up and hits a forearm. A headbutt sends Belcegor down. Clothesline by Wagner, then a knee in the corner. DVD gets two. Spinning clothesline by Wagner, gets Belecegor up in the electric chair and hits a sitout powerbomb for three!

Winner: Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. (2:35 via pinfall)

Basic squash to put Wagner over, nothing much to it but Wagner looked good.

Wagner calls out Santos Escobar since he knows Santos is in the building. Santos says the match will happen when he wants it to, and on his terms.

We see clips of lots of folks diving while TJ Perkins earned a shot at the Cruiserweight Championship.

AAA Cruiserweight Championship Match: Laredo Kid (c) vs. TJ Perkins: Some mat wrestling to start, TJP with some gymnastics moves before exchanging nearfalls with Laredo. TJ with a kick, Laredo scissors him outside, teases the dive, TJP trips him on the apron and drives his back into the ring. Laredo fights him off, goes up top but dives into a TJP dropkick. TJP works Laredo over in the corner. Washes his dirty face! Backbreaker on Laredo gets two. Laredo gets out of the chinlock, TJP tears at his mask. TJP misses in the corner, Laredo with a top rope missile dropkick. TJP sent outside, Laredo dives onto him. Back in the ring, forearm in the corner. TJP placed up top, Laredo gets knocked to the mat. Laredo evades a splash, TJP schoolboys Laredo, the ref sees him use the ropes. Laredo gets a victory roll on Perkins, Perkins grabs the rope, which should break the count, but the referee doesn’t see it and counts three!

Winner: Laredo Kid (5:20 via pinfall)
Match Rating: **1/2
This was pretty good action, with a finish that’ll lead to a legitimate issue between the to.

TJP argues with the referee, then attacks Laredo as he exits the ring! Perkins sends Laredo into the steps, then punches away on Laredo on the step. TJP gets the belt, and hits Laredo with it! Perkins then curb stomps Laredo’s head on the step! DANGEROUS!

We see a video package covering the issues between El Fiscal & Abismo Negro Jr.. Basically, Fiscal is actually Abismo Negro’s son, and he doesn’t like the name being used by someone else.

El Fiscal vs. Abismo Negro Jr.: Fisticuffs to start. Amismo sends Fiscal into the steps. Fiscal fights back and clears the Spanish announce table. Fiscal punches away on Abismo, then swings at the referee! The referee disqualifies Fiscal.

Winner: Abismo Negro Jr. (1:46 via disqualification)
This was about establishing the issue between these two in front of a different audience, & I think the segment accomplished that.

Fiscal tries to Tombstone Abismo on the announce table! Security stops that, but then Abismo sweeps Fiscal’s leg, then leaves ringside. Fiscal clears out security, then dives onto security on the other side of the ring! Fiscal & Abismo keep fighting in the aisle. The fans are hyped! Fiscal yells from the ring while Abismo is finally escorted out.

Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. says he’s an easy man to find, and Santos Escobar proves him right by attacking him and leaving him laying!

Next week: Dragon Lee vs. Jack Cartwheel! Wagner vs. Omos vs. Pimpinella vs. All Ego! La Parka vs. OG Americano vs. Two Mysteries! Clowns vs. War Raiders in a three-week event!

It’s time for the contract signing! Hijo del Vikingo makes his way to the ring along with Dorian Roldan & Omos. Domink Mysterio comes out with the Intercontinental & Mega Championship belts. Dorian takes the microphone and tells us about the challenge from two weeks ago. Dom says he’s going to be Mega Champion for a long time. He’ll break Vikingo’s record and people will only think of him as Mega Champion. Dom says that if Vikingo loses, he can never challenge Dom for the championship again. Vikingo says that he only needs one opportunity. The fans chant derogatory things. Vikingo will beat Dom at Rey de Reyes, and after that, Dom will have to leave AAA forever. Vikingo says the match will also be no disqualification, and signs the contract. Dom signs, and Vikingo calls him an idiot. Dom doesn’t know what he’s getting himself into. Vikingo yells for a video to he shown.

We see a video of Vikingo dressed up as a doctor! He tells Dom that he’ll be going to the hospital just like his last opponent, and he’s going to show Dom what he’s in for. Vikingo enters Mini Vikingo’s room, and hits him with a computer before striking him a few times. He yanks Mini’s drip off and turns the bed over! That’s what Dom will be in for at Rey de Reyes! Dom congratulates Vikingo for beating up a 12 year old. He says they can fight right here, but Omos steps in front of Dom. El Grande Americano appears, and hits Omos with a chair! Omos no-sells, then Grande exits the ring. Grande & Dom yell at El Ojo before the Original El Grande attacks! Dom opts not to get involved in the family squabble and exits while Original poses over Grande. That’s all for this week, so long for now!

You could definitely tell this was the last show of the taping. Not quite as much going on, not quite as much response from the crowd. Next week starts a new one, so we should be good! See y'all next week!
