Cook’s Lucha Libre AAA Review 7.25.26

Then. Now. Forever. Together!

Lola Vice & Mr. Iguana are WALKING! La Hiedra & Laredo Kid are WALKING! Rey Mysterio is WALKING! Dirty Dom IS POSING ON HIS LOW RIDER! El Grande Americano is RIDING A DONKEY!

AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio makes his way to the ring. Corey Graves & JBL are on commentary and ready for the Summer of Scandal. Adrian Mendoza joins them for translation. Rey welcomes us to the show, three great weeks of incredible events. He’s been coming here since the earliest days of his career. He’s working real hard behind the scenes to bring lucha to the global stage. Before he can go to far, Omos’ music hits, and Omos & Dorian Roldan make their way to the ring.

Dorian gave Rey a week to think about what he said, he put Vikingo in an unsafe environment and he’ll be out for several months. He asks Rey to make the right decision, which is to give Omos the Latin American Championship. Rey told Dorian two weeks ago how it would go, Dorian would not be the first man to threaten him and he would not be the last. Dorian continues to threaten Rey, and Rey answers “no”. Dorian convinces Omos to exit the ring.

Dom talks to El Grande about getting through tonight and to TripleMania. Grande feels Dom might be with Los Perros. Dom insists they have a big match coming up. After Dom leaves, Damian 666 reminds Grande that few are chosen.

We see a recap of the issues between La Hiedra, Mr. Iguana & Lola Vice that Laredo Kid recently got drug into as Hiedra’s mentor. Lola told Iguana that Hiedra was still in love with him, Iguana couldn’t believe it.

AAA Mixed Tag Team Championship Match: Lola Vice & Mr. Iguana (c) vs. La Hiedra & Laredo Kid: Rey Mysterio joins Corey & JBL on commentary and doesn’t have many answers for what we’ve seen so far. Laredo takes Iguana down, they work to a stalemate. Iguana takes over with some arm drags, Laredo tags out to Hiedra, Vice comes in as well and tries to work to an armbar, they go back & forth. Slams by Hiedra. Vice with some quick kicks, then some quick kicks to Laredo! Yesca gets involved, Vice backs it up to both in the corner, hits a seated senton to Laredo, Hiedra kicks her, Iguana stares her down. Hiedra hits Shattered Dreams in the corner for two. Lola fights back, hits a suplex on Hiedra. Tags to Iguana & Laredo, Iguana hits a diving headbutt. Crucifix driver by Iguana gets two on Laredo! Laredo hits a Michinoku Driver, then a 450 splash gets 2? Seems sketchy to me and the announcers. Laredo gets DDTed by Iguana. Lola & Hiedra go back & forth after tags, Lola hits a lights out kick & Laredo breaks the count. Iguana rana to Laredo on the outside, Hiedra hits a Jaded on Lola and HISTORY HAS BEEN MADE IN Aguascalientes!

Winners: La Hiedra & Laredo Kid (9:32 via pinfall)
Match Rating: **1/2
Lola getting jobbed out before getting called up hits me hard, not gonna lie. Good for Laredo Kid though, he’s finally getting a reason to be kept around.

Rey has a press conference. He has great news to share with us. He blathers on before finally announcing that he received a message from Penta, and Penta will be on the August 15 show in Torreon. He also mentions that Laredo Kid got the chance to job in MSG, they have new action figures coming, and he runs down the card for next week.

Dominik Mysterio & El Grande Americano vs. Daga & Angel Garza: Daga’s partner was a mystery until the entrance, they didn’t go outside Los Perros inner circle on this occasion. Some poses after the bell. Daga & Dom go at it. Daga slams Dom, chops him in the corner. Dom fights back, tags Grande. Grande stomps Daga in the corner. Grande hip tosses Daga, kicks him for two. Grande hops up top and gets crotched. Angel tags in, gets a near-fall. Angel stomps away on Grande. Angel mounts Grande in the corner and strikes away. Grande finally gets away and Dom tags in! Dom gets worked over by the Perros. Dom finally hits a DDT, and Americano tags in. Backdrop to Daga, shots in the corner to Angel. Double blockbuster! Cover on Daga gets two! Dom tags in, after some teasing Dom hits a couple of the Amigos, Americano tags in for the third Amigo for two. The superplex & frog splash combo gets a two count! Dom kicks Daga for the 619 but he gets clotheslined! Grande & Angel tag in, Angel goes to the eyes, Grande sends Angel into the official and hits the headbutt! He’d get a three but there’s no referee. We’ve got more Perros at ringside and they attack Dom! Bronco Nima is there! Rayo & Bravo Americano are here and they attack the Perros! Bravo does the Aero Star dive off the lighting! Grande does the Samoan Drop on Daga for two! Here comes Karmen! Bronco chokeslams Rayo & Bravo through the announce table! Grande takes Bronco out, in the ring Angel puts Grande through some moves, Daga helps out, they only get two. Grande fires back! He clotheslines Angel & Daga! Dom avoids the tag from Grande! No surprise here, we know how he is! Los Perros tear Grande apart. Daga hits the double stomp from the top and that is all.

Winners: Daga & Angel Garza (20:31 via pinfall)
Match Rating: **1/2
We all kind of knew where this was going, it was a question of who would align with who.

Welp, we see Omos & Dorian Roldan come out to greet Dirty Dom after all this mess! Seems like a perfect fit considering they’re all assholes, so long for now!

We all knew this episode would end with Grande & Dom at odds, it was a question of who Dom would align with. He ended up choosing Dorian & Omos with El Ojo to keep that faction alive, which makes more sense than Dom with Perros del Mal. We know Dom doesn't have that dog in him. We'll see if Dom can hang on to that championship after TripleMania.
