Cook’s AAA on FOX Review 9.5.26

Hey kids! Steve Cook here with you for the latest edition of AAA on Mexico’s FOX & the United States’ YouTube. TripleMania takes place next Friday & Sunday, so this will be our final taste of AAA before the biggest shows of their year. We’ve got two previously unaired matches from a couple of months ago along with some TripleMania build tonight. I kinda doubt anything of great importance will happen within this hour of programming, but maybe they’ll surprise me.

We see clips from AAA Ola de Calor. I reviewed that, it was all right!

Corey Graves & JBL are our hosts, Rey Mysterio is busy preparing for TripleMania.

El Fiscal, La Parka & Mr. Iguana vs. Dinamico & Los Vipers (Histeria & Taurus): Before the match starts we see clips from the Latin American Championship match at Ola de Calor. La Parka won, El Fiscal did not. Will they be able to get along here? Probably, it was taped a couple of months ago. Parka starts dancing around, Histeria wants some physicality so after running the ropes he gets a backbreaker. Tag to Taurus. Parka with a knee, flipping arm drag and a side kick. Tag to Iguana & Yesca. Facebuster by Iguana, a smack from Yesca. Taurus runs into a boot, Iguana with a flying headscissors. Fiscal and Dinamico come in, Fiscal hits a clothesline. Histeria in, hits a couple of chops. Fiscal presses Histeria but Dinamico with a chop block. Histera attacks the left leg of Fiscal. Taurus in and he punishes the leg some more. Dinamico in to do more of the same. Fiscal tries to power out of the front facelock and get a tag, he backdrops Dinamico but still can’t tag. Fiscal is kept in the rudo corner and Taurus does some clobbering. Fiscal fights back with a twisting crossbody and Iguana tags in. Satellite headscissors by Iguana, then a flying headbutt. Iguana gets tripped, but tags Parka in. Backbreaker for Dinamico, Parka suplexes Taurus. Blue Thunder on Dinamico got two, Histeria broke it up with a dropkick. Histeria is tossed outside, Iguana dives, Fiscal dives & Parka dives! Cutter to Histeria, Parka lifts him up for the Bonebreaker and it gets the three count.

Winners: El Fiscal, La Parka & Mr. Iguana (6:49 via pinfall)

Pretty standard trios fare here. I was impressed with Fiscal’s dive, he’s been showing some good energy since being featured regularly on this program.

Parka finds a kid to dance with.

We see a video recap of the Gauntlet Match at Ola de Calor. La Catalina won, which means she’ll be getting the TripleMania title shot against Flammer.

Andrea is with La Catalina. Catalina is excited, and she’s coming for Flammer. Andrea comments that Catlina is hurt, Catalina says that she’ll be ready. Catalina always saw herself with the championship and it’s only a matter of time now. Flammer’s intelligence came from having her friends on her side. Flammer should say goodbye to her championship. She left her home when she was 17, that’s how much this means to her. Some of Andrea’s questions were a bit odd, but I liked the interview overall. Giving fans more reason to care about La Catalina would be good. We’ve seen her wrestle, but not much of her story has been told.

We see a video recap of Penta vs. Rey Fenix on Monday’s Raw. Penta will face Roman Reigns in Mexico City on September 14.

Rey Mysterio talks about how trios matches are what AAA is known for worldwide. Psycho Circus has held the title since 2024, but most of this year injuries have kept them from defending. The Circus is now healthy, and they will defend the Trios Championship at TripleMania Las Vegas against Perros del Mal.

El Grande Americano is in the ring, and before he leaves he wants to introduce one of his good friends, a legend, Pimpinela Escarlata! Pimpi dances around ringside and enters the ring. Pimpi thanks the fans for their support over the last forty years. Pimpi fulfilled a childhood dream. Pimpi thanks Grande. Grande hugs & kisses Pimpi. Grande thanks Pimpi, hands are raised, the people cheer & chant Pimpinela’s name.

El Grande Americano talks about what a year it’s been. He won the Rey de Reyes and took the Shorty American’s mask. Now he wants to win the Mega Championship from Dominik Mysterio. He want to win for his people, country, girlfriend, Pimpi and everyone. This match is for their legacy, history, culture & pride.

Rey Mysterio & Mr. Iguana have a conversation. Iguana thanks Rey for all the opportunities he’s giving wrestlers. The only time he’s ever lost was in a mixed tag, so he’s wondering when he’ll get a title shot. He wants it more than Yesca. Rey says he can be in the Latin American Championship match against La Parka & Laredo Kid at TripleMania. Parka comes in after Rey leaves, and Iguana tells Parka that they need to talk.

Corey runs down the cards for TripleMania Las Vegas & Mexico City.

Andrea is with the War Raiders. Ivar says that they’re AAA Tag Team Champions. Erik says there isn’t a team on this planet that can take what’s theirs. They’ll defend the Tag Titles against Damian Priest & R-Truth on the Mexico City SmackDown and have issued an open challenge for TripleMania.

Flammer makes her way to the ring. She’s on Spanish commentary duty for the next match.

La Catalina vs. Adelicious: Catalina takes Adelicious down right away, hits an arm drag. A dropkick sends Adelicious down. Adelicious evades Catalina and hits a dropkick of her own before doing some dancing. Catalina smacks Adelicious around before Adelicious hits a sling blade for two. Adelicious misses in the corner, Catalina with some strikes, she goes up top and hits a missile dropkick. Catalina hits the hip attack and then a fisherwoman’s suplex. Another hip attack, then Catalina hits a spinning reverse surfboard drop for the three count. (Yeah, great name by me lol)

Winner: La Catalina (3:34 via pinfall)

Easy win for Catalina, she got to do a few cool things and looked good. Adelicious has looked decent enough when I’ve seen her, they seem to be working her in a little bit more recently.

Glances are exchanged and Flammer gets up from the announce position. Catalina invites Flammer into the ring, Flammer walks up the steps, gets on the apron and teases getting in, but decides not to. Catalina dances in the ring while Flammer holds the Reina de Reinas Championship up. Our live event has come to an end, so long for now!

AAA has been doing this type of show before their big events at least since WWE took over. The matches on these shows haven't been bad, but you see why they weren't prioritized. The videos hyping various parts of TripleMania were well done, but some of the matches come off as random as all heck. Beyond TripleMania, I'm interested to see what the heck will be on this show.
