Togi Makabe, Toru Yano, Ayato Yoshida, Shota Umino & Ren Narita vs. Bad Luck Fale, Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa, Chase Owens & Hikuleo: Jado is at ringside. Narita and Owens start us off. Umino and Yoshida are in, they connect with dropkicks until Hikuleo cuts them off. This lead to floor brawling, and Hikuleo tagging in, working over Narita. Tonga tags in, as Bullet Club maintains control. Fale in now ad he pummels Narita. Hikuleo in for double teams, but Yoshida makes the save. Loa tags in, hits the powerslam, covering for 2.Bullet Club works quick tags, with Narita still being beat on. Narita hits a desperation dropkick and Makabe gets the hot tag. GOD attacks, but Makabe hits lariats. He and Loa trade, Owens tags in and unloads on Makabe but eats a lariat. Yoshida tags in, and the other lions join in and triple team Owens. Fale and Hikuleo make the save, Owens hits the package piledriver and pins Yoshida. Bullet Club defeated Togi Makabe, Toru Yano, Ayato Yoshida, Shota Umino & Ren Narita @ 9:10 via pin [**½] This was a solid opener, with Bullet Club dominating as expected.

Yuji Nagata & Toa Henare vs. Tomohiro Ishii & YOSHI-HASHI: Nagata & Ishii start us off in a NJ Cup preview. Nagata unloads with strikes, kicks an Ishii answers back until Nagata takes him down. Henare tags in, as does HASHI. He and Henare trade strikes, but Henare drops HASHI with chops. HASHI trips him up and Ishii tags in and we get all four brawling on the floor. Back in and Ishii works over Henare, punishing him with chops and kicks. HASHI tags back in, and Henare eats more chops. Henare battles back with a desperation spear. Ishii & Nagata tag in and Nagata connects with kicks. Ishii fires up and runs over Nagata. They start unloading with strikes, Ishii is rocked, and Nagata pulls the arm bar until HASHI breaks that up. Nagata dumps him and Ishii hits the suplex on Nagata. HASHI tags in, Henare joins him and they trade strikes. Henare hits the Samoan drop for 2. HASHI cuts him off with a spin kick, but Henare fires back and hits the suplex for 2.Ishii makes the save, Nagata in and hits an XPLODER on Ishii. Henare spears HASHI and covers for 2. Ishii & Nagata brawl on the floor; HASHI kills Henare with a lariat for a good near fall. The brainbuster finishes Henare. Tomohiro Ishii & YOSHI-HASHI defeated Yuji Nagata & Henare @ 12:15 via pin [***½] This was a very good match, with everyone delivering, and the Ishii vs. Nagata stuff being great.

Satoshi Kojima, Tomoaki Honma, Tiger Mask IV, Ryusuke Taguchi & Dragon Lee vs. Minoru Suzuki, Taichi, Kanemaru, Desperado & Taka: Suzuki-gun of course attacks before the bell, the scoundrels. This is a NJ Cup preview for Kojima vs. Suzuki & Honma vs. Taichi. We start off with the big floor brawl, as Lee and Despy pair off. Lee hits a RANA, a hesitation dropkick, and Tiger tags in. The back breaker follows, but Kanemaru makes the save. Kojima & Suzuki battle on the floor as Despy tries to unmask Tiger. Taka tags in and works over Tiger, maintaining control as Suzuki hits Kojima with a chair shot. Kanemaru tags in, continuing to isolate Tiger. Tiger battles back, hits a tiger driver, and Honma and Taichi tag in. They trade strikes, Honma hits a bulldog and misses the falling kokeshi. The pants are off, but Honma counters the superkick and connects with a falling kokeshi. Suzuki & Kojima tag in, Kojima lights him up with chops and Suzuki smiles and likes it. Suzuki cuts off the top rope elbow, hits the running kick and PK. Kojima fires up and they trade, Kojima is rocked and Suzuki gets the sleeper, but Kojima hits the cutter. Tags to Taguchi and he fires up with ass attacks. It breaks down, bodies fly to the floor, and Taguchi ankle locks Taka, but Kanemaru makes the save. Suicide dive by Tiger, Lee runs wild and scores with a huge tope. Taguchi hits bum a ye for 2. The do don finishes Taka. Satoshi Kojima, Tomoaki Honma, Tiger Mask IV, Ryusuke Taguchi & Dragon Lee defeated Minoru Suzuki, Taichi, Kanemaru, Desperado & Taka @ 11:20 via pin [***] This was a good, all action match, that hyped the NJ Cup matches well and gave Taguchi momentum.

IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions Shingo & BUSHI vs. Roppongi 3K: Sho rushes Shingo right away, they trade strikes and clotheslines as the junior hosses just unload. Yoh tags in and double teams follow. They clear the ring and follow with stereo topes, but Sho hit his feet off the barricade badly. Back in and Yoh grounds Shingo. Sho tags back in and double teams follow. Sho looks to be ok as he takes control on Shingo. BUSHI gets a cheap shot in and so does Yoh. 3K double team Shingo, but BUSHI makes the save, allowing Shingo to hit a lariat. They all head to the floor with the champions in control. BUSHI tags in and chokes out Sho with his shirt. Yoh makes the save until Shingo cuts him off and LIJ double teams follow. LIJ work quick tags, continuing to isolate and punish Sho. Shingo unloads with strikes and a big lariat. Sho hits a desperation spear, tags in Yoh and he runs wild on BUSHI. Shingo cuts him off, but misses a knee drop and Yoh attacks the knee. The figure four follows, Sho arm bars BUSHI. LIJ makes the ropes. BUSHI takes out Sho, and Shingo hits a DVD on Yoh. Tag to BUSHI, and the missile dropkick connects. They trade kicks; Yoh hits a neck breaker and tags Sho in. Sho follows with a suplex, covering for 2. The dropkick follows, Shingo rushes in and LIJ double teams Sho for a good near fall. The champions look for rebellion, but Yoh makes the save. Stereo knees to Shingo follow, the challengers look for 3K, but BUSHI fights them off and hits the double RANA. BUSHI hits a suicide dive, Sho Germans Shingo and BUSHI mists Sho. PUMPING BOMBER by Shingo! Rebellion connects but Yoh makes the save. BUSHI to the ropes, misses MX, Yo in and 3K connects and we have new champions! Roppongi 3K defeated Champions Shingo & BUSHI @ 17:01 via pin [****] This was a great match, with well done callbacks to their past encounters and a hot closing stretch.

IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion Taiji Ishimori vs. Jushin Thunder Liger: There is a really good atmosphere for this as the fans are behind Liger. Liger grounds things early on, slowing his younger & faster opponent. Ishimori makes the ropes, but Liger grounds him again and starts working his submission game. The Romero special follows, Liger transitions to a dragon sleeper and then releases and follows withy strikes to the back of Ishimori. Ishimori is finally able to fire back, dumps Liger, and works him over before rolling him back in. Ishimori grounds things and starts working the neck. Liger makes the ropes, and cuts off Ishimori with the back breaker and takes him to the floor and hits the apron cannonball. The brainbuster on the floor follows. Ishimori barely makes it back in, but walks into shoteis. Liger takes him up top, hits the RANA, and that gets 2. Ishimori counters the Liger bomb into a DDT, and they trade strikes. Ishimori picks up the pace, hits the seated senton, and then the moonsault to the floor connects. Back in and Ishimori hits the charging knees. The inverted lung blower follows for 2. Liger fights off bloody cross, SHOTEI! Liger Bomb! 1…2…NO! Ishimori fights off the brainbuster, Liger counters bloody cross, but Ishimori blocks the rolling kick and locks on the LeBell lock. The crowd is willing Liger to fight, he does and makes the ropes. Ishimori hits a huge lariat for 2. Liger gets the crucifix pin and almost pinned Ishimori again. The Thesz press follows for 2. Ishimori cuts him ff, back to the LeBell lock, Liger rolls, but has to tap. Champion Taiji Ishimori defeated Jushin Thunder Liger @ 15:55 via submission [****] This was great, they had a hot and invested crowd, Liger turned back the hands of time one more time and it told a great story; but in the end, Ishimori picked up a statement victory with the submission win.

– Post match, Ishimori asks for a challenge, and Dragon Lee arrives. Yes please. This is likely taking place at G1 Supercard of Honor in MSG.

Hiroshi Tanahashi, Kazuchika Okada, & Hirooki Goto vs. Tetsuya Naito, EVIL, & SANADA: Naito & Okada to start us off. Okada plays some mind games early on, they pick up the pace and trade arm drags until Naito poses. Goto tags in as does SANADA. They trade, work into counters, and it breaks down as the super friends isolate and work over SANADA. SANADA battles back and gets the cobra twist on Tanahashi. LIJ clears the ring and that allows SANADA & EVIL to work quick tags and isolate the ace. They are picking apart his knee, Naito in with a figure four variation now until Goto makes the save. LIJ continues to isolate Tanahashi, working the knee and using quick tag. Tanahashi battles back with a dragon screw, tags in Okada and he runs wild on EVIL. He takes out SANADA & Naito as well, scoring with a trio of DDTs. EVIL cuts him off with a fisherman’s buster, they work into counters and SANADA tags back in. Okada cuts off the missile dropkick, tags in Goto and he lights up SANADA with kicks. LIJ in and swarms Goto. It breaks down, and Goto and SANADA work into counters, Tanahashi & EVIL in and Okada dropkicks EVIL. Goto hits ushigoroshi on Naito, but SANADA cuts him off with skull end, swings him, but Goto counters out and cradles him with the Goto clutch for the win. Hiroshi Tanahashi, Kazuchika Okada, & Hirooki Goto defeated Tetsuya Naito, EVIL, & SANADA @ 13:02 via pin [***] This was a good and crowd pleasing all star tag, which is exactly what it needed to be.

IWGP Heavyweight Champion Jay White vs. NEVER Openweight Champion Will Ospreay: Gedo is out with White. Ospreay charges and White bails right away. Back in and they lock up, battling for control, which Ospreay takes. They collide center ring a few times, White slaps Ospreay and follows with chops. Ospreay picks up the pace, hits a shoulder tackle and follows with a dropkick and superhero pose. The plancha follows, and Ospreay works over White on the floor. Gedo distracts him, allowing White to attack. The snap Saito follows and Ospreay is down holding his neck. White then tosses him ribs fist into the post. Back in they go, Ospreay tries to fie back, but White keeps attacking the ribs. White remains focused on the ribs, grounding things. The snap Saito follows. They roll to the floor and White slams him to the apron and barricades repeatedly. Back in and Ospreay lays in chops, uppercuts, but White suplexes him to the buckles to cut him off. White grounds things once again, attacking the ribs again. Ospreay escapes, tried the back handspring kick, but White cuts him off, attacking the ribs. White stays one step ahead of Ospreay, constantly cutting off his signature offense. Ospreay hits a desperation RANA, and follows with the Sasuke special. Back in and Ospreay hits the flying forearm. The back handspring kick connects, and the standing corkscrew moonsault follows for 2. White fights off storm breaker, but Ospreay lays in a flurry of kicks and dumps White. White catches the suicide dive and drives Ospreay into the barricade. Ospreay barely beats the count, and White hits the DVD for 2. White continues to assault the ribs, lays in knee strikes, but Ospreay hits cheeky nandos and sets White into the tree of WHOA. Ospreay just pummels him with strikes, White counters storm breaker, lays in strikes to the ribs and hits a German. White charges and Ospreay hits the Spanish fly, but can’t follow up. They trade strikes; White attacks the ribs and follows with forearms. Ospreay hits the hook kick, takes White up top on his shoulders and hits a super iconoclasm for a great near fall. Ospreay looks for storm breaker, but opts for head kicks, and the Robinson special. White counters oscutter into a crucifix and elbow strikes. Ospreay counters blade runner into a reverse RANA. The back elbow follows and both men are down. Ospreay drops the elbow pad, Gedo is in, takes the ref and White low blows Ospreay and hits the half and half suplex. Another suplex follows for 2. White looks for blade runner, countered and Ospreay hits a sitout powerbomb for a great near fall. Ospreay up top, imploding 450 connects for 2 as White makes the ropes. Ospreay looks for storm breaker again, countered, but Ospreay lands with a series of kicks. White counters oscutter into blade runner, hits it proper, and Ospreay is done. Jay White defeated Will Ospreay @ 29:10 via pin [****¼] This was a really great main event with both guys delivering. White’s aggression is really improving, while his counter wrestling is becoming a thing of beauty. Ospreay continues to deliver in his big time matches, and looks right at home at heavyweight.

– Post match, Ibushi saves Ospreay from a beat down, but Bullet Club arrives and kicks his ass. Tanahashi, Goto, & Okada run them off.

The NJPW 47th Anniversary Show was a pretty great event overall, with three great matches all worth your time, a title change, setup for the NJ Cup and also Ishimori vs. Lee. Thumbs up.
