ROH WOH Champion Sumie Sakai vs. Madison Rayne: Mandy Leon is on commentary, she’s allegedly adding to the broadcast. As long as she’s not wrestling I’m ok with it. Rayne and Sakai work into some solid back and forth, trading pin attempts and that leads to a stand off. They lockup and work to the corner, and Rayne backs off but Sakai attacks with strikes. Sakai lays in Mongolian chops, but Rayne cuts her off with knee strikes and covers for 2. They trade running forearms and work into a double down. Post break, and they are trading strikes center ring. Sakai hits a dropkick and fisherman’s neck breaker for 2. Sakai heads up top and follows with the missile dropkick for 2. Sakai now misses a moonsault and that allows Rayne to fire back and hit a tornado DDT for 2. Sakai now battles back, cuts off Rayne, and hits the fisherman’s buster for 2. Rayne then counters smash mouse into a cradle for2. The cuter connects and Rayne covers again for 2. Rayne now charges in but runs right into smash mouse and Sakai retains. Champion Sumie Sakai defeated Madison Rayne @ 9:07 via pin [**¾] This was an overall pretty good outing, they worked a smart, basic and clean match as Sakai continues her reign as champion.
– We get a video package recapping the feud between Shane Taylor & Josh Woods.
Shane Taylor vs. Josh Woods: Woods attacks at the bell with a jumping knee strike, catching Taylor off guard. Woods follows with strikes and they separate Woods claims Taylor keeps something in his gloves to deliver the KO shots he uses, and after they jaw back and forth, Woods grounds things with a heel hook and transitions to an ankle lock. Taylor then fights off a German, but Woods hits knee strikes but then gets dumped to the floor. Taylor follows and posts Woods. Taylor takes him to the apron and hits the leg drop. Back in and Taylor lights him up with strikes, and then hits a slam and running splash for 1. Taylor talks trash and that fires up Woods, who lays in strikes and head kick. Woods lays in a flurry of strikes and knees, the running knee strike and XPLODER connects, and Woods covers for 2. Post break, and Woods continue to lay in strikes and kicks. Woods now locks on an arm bar, and starts ripping off Taylor’s glove and fins that it was indeed loaded. Woods then begs the ref not to stop it, because good is dumb. Taylor cuts him off and hits the Samoan driver for the win. Shane Taylor defeated Josh Woods @ 9:41 via pin [**¾] This was another overall pretty good match, with a really strong first half, but the finish left a lot to be desired. The story was solid enough though.
– We get a video package recapping the feud between Jay Lethal & Jonathon Gresham.
– Marcus Kross and Charles Zanders arrive for a top prospect match, which is the running joke because it’s not happening. Jeffrey Cobb arrived and destroyed these poor fuckers, because he’s Jeffrey Fucking Cobb. Eli Isolm tries to make the save, and all he won was a free tour of the islands.
– We get footage of Bully low blowing Chuckie back in July, and Trent making his return and save for his best friend
Best Friends (Trent & Chuckie) vs. Bully Ray & Silas Young: Bully starts a bunch of shit by talking trash, looks to begin and tags out to Young. Young and Trent start us off, working into some fun back and forth action as Trent takes control. Bully yells at Young and demands to be tagged in. He’s in and “gets heat” by yelling a bunch. Bully finally attacks and starts working the previously injured arm of Trent, taking control. Trent quickly fights back, hits a RANA and running back elbow attacks. Chuckie tags in and double teams follow. Chuckie now lays in rights until Bully cuts him off and tags in Young. Young lays the boots to Chuckie, but Chuckie fights back and hits the slam. Trent hits the slingshot face rake and Chuckie hits the slow motion senton atomico. Young cuts off the hug and starts beating down Trent. Bully then crotches Trent on the post. Post break, and Bully & Young have the heat as they beat down Trent. Young grounds the action, but Trent gets a cradle for 2. Trent tries to fire up but Bully cuts him off and tags in. The big backdrop follows and Young tags in, covering for 2. Young follows with a clothesline, misses a charge and Trent hits the tornado DDT and flips Bully the bird. Tag to Chuckie, he runs wild and hits soul food, and does the deal with a falcon arrow for 2. The Michinoku driver follows and Chuckie covers for 2. Bully gets in a cheap shot, Trent in and the lawn dart cutter connects for 2 as they hug. Bully in and cuts them off. He yells at Young and then gives him the alligator arms and walks off, telling Young he’s going to learn a lesson because Young isn’t the guy he used to be. Strong zero finishes Young. Best Friends defeated Bully Ray & Silas Young @ 12:30 via pin [**¾] This was another pretty good match, with the Best Friends picking up a win in their return to TV to get them some instant momentum. But the main story was the ever evolving Bully Ray/Silas Young relationship, as it now appears that Bully wants Young to get back to his roots as the bad ass real man of ROH to add to his angry veteran ranks. It will be interesting to see how that evolves.
– NEXT WEEK: Kaz vs. Mark Briscoe, ROH champion Jay Lethal vs. Jonathan Gresham in a 30-minute iron man match.
– End Scene.
