Damian Priest Revealed As Mystery Former WWE World Champion on Tonight’s AAA Show

The mystery surrounding the arrival of a former WWE World Champion to Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide was finally resolved on tonight’s AAA show, as General Manager Rey Mysterio shed light on the identity of the person.

As noted previously, Mysterio announced two weekends ago that a former WWE World Champion would soon be arriving in AAA. The General Manager kicked off this week’s show and noted that the Mexican promotion has long been a home to some of the biggest stars in Latin wrestling. Rey said he aims to continue the legacy by bringing one of the biggest Latinos in the world, i.e., former World Heavyweight Champion and current WWE Tag Team Champion Damian Priest, to the company.

Priest came out to a massive pop from the audience. After soaking in the admiration, Damian grabbed a microphone and cut a promo. He acknowledged that the AAA fans may not be aware of him and thus started listing his accolades in WWE. Priest said that he was aware of AAA’s rich legacy, and he intends to dominate proceedings in the company. He then put the entire locker room, especially the current champions, on notice, making his intentions amply clear.

Here’s what Damian Priest said [translated in English]:

“Perhaps some of you don’t know me. I’m a five-time tag team champion. I am a former United States Champion, and I am a former World Champion. I’m Damian Priest. I’ve been a wrestler for more than 20 years. I’ve wrestled on the biggest stages in the world. I have wrestled some of the best superstars in the world, and I’ve beaten them. But I haven’t done that here in AAA. Over time, I’ve heard about the history, the legends, and the honor associated with AAA.

So, I want to be honest. I’m not here to make enemies, but I’m also not here to make friends. I came to dominate AAA. If you are a bad guy, if you are a good guy, if you are from the past or the future, if you face me, you will fall before me. Oh, and if you have a championship, you’re going to get to know me very well. For those who don’t know me and for those who do, all rise! All rise! All rise because ‘El Campeon’ has arrived in AAA!”
