Dave Meltzer & Bryan Alvarez Cast Doubt on Sol Ruca’s Injury Status on WWE NXT

During this week’s edition of WWE NXT, Sol Ruca appeared on crutches, declaring that she was injured during her match last week on WWE SmackDown. As a result, she won’t be able to defend her NXT Women’s North American Title this weekend. Instead, the title will now be contested by her tag team partner, Zaria, and Blake Monroe at NXT Halloween Havoc. Meltzer and Alvarez analyzed the segment on today’s Wrestling Observer Radio, casting doubt on the legitimacy of Sol Ruca’s apparent injury.
Sol Ruca supposedly suffered a knee injury during her Moonsault spot off the ring post to the floor. Alvarez said on Ruca’s apparent injury, “There was a spot in the match where she supposedly injured her knee, but watching this whole segment, the way they did it, the way everybody responded to everything, it was just, I don’t know, man.”
Alvarez speculated that Ruca might’ve simply tweaked her knee, but won’t need surgery, and will only have to be on the shelf for only a few weeks. He added, “I don’t know, I watched this segment, and I didn’t buy it.”
Meltzer noted that he wasn’t convinced either by the legitimacy of Ruca’s injury during the segment. He responded, “I wasn’t that convinced either. It felt way too storyline, but it’s one of those things. They are — I have not had anyone confirm the injury to me, but I have had nobody not confirm it, which also when that happens, that’s the same thing that happened with [Seth] Rollins.” Meltzer added, “Although I did have people not confirm it…”
Either way, Zaria will face Blake for Sol Ruca’s title at NXT Halloween Havoc. The premium live event takes place on Saturday, October 25. It will be held at the Findlay Toyota Center in Prescott, Arizona and will be broadcast live on Peacock in the U.S. and on Netflix internationally.
