Dave Meltzer now expects WWE Crown Jewel to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on November 7, despite ongoing security concerns. PWInsider confirmed that WWE has begun work on the venue.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer said WWE and TKO appear prepared to proceed with the event rather than relocate it. He noted it would be a “terrible look” for the company. Meltzer stated (via Wrestling Inc):

“It’s a terrible look…for WWE to go to Saudi Arabia right now,” Meltzer said. “It’s basically…it’s like, we know what they are. We know they are. But it’s like, not everyone knows what they are, and now it’s harder to deny, you know what I mean? You can’t deny it.”

However, Meltzer suggested the event’s financial importance would influence the decision. He added that even if the airport is bombed a day before the show, WWE would still go ahead. Meltzer continued:

“The people who run the company, the way they’re wired, they always want to make money. Money is in front of everything, okay, so they’re going to make that decision. I mean, they could bomb the airport the day before, they’re still going to go. That’s just how it is.”

The United States has issued another security alert for Saudi Arabia, ordering non-emergency U.S. government employees and their family members to leave the country due to safety issues.

Three matches are currently announced for Crown Jewel. World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns will face Undisputed WWE Champion Sami Zayn for the Men’s Crown Jewel Championship, Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan and WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green will fight for the Women’s Crown Jewel Championship, and Cody Rhodes will take on Randy Orton in a Last Man Standing match.
