Dawn Marie Reflects On Angle With Torrie Wilson & Al Wilson: ‘It Was a Great Time’

Dawn Marie recently looked back at her memorable love triangle storyline with Torrie Wilson and Al Wilson, disputing the notion that it was a “horrible” storyline. The 2002 storyline saw Marie start a relationship with Al, who was Torrie’s real-life father. It eventually led to a marriage segment with Al and Marie in their underwear on Smackdown before Al “died” of a heart attack to write him off TV.

Wilson has previously discussed the storyline, revealing that it was a Paul Heyman idea, and Marie was asked about the feud by Going Ringside. She argued that while people tell her it was “the worst angle ever,” she disagrees because people remember it. You can see highlights below:

“They came up with an angle, they wanted me to seduce her father. They used her real father… they asked her, ‘Do you want to use your real dad, or do you want us to hire someone?’ She’s like, ‘No, use my real dad. It’ll give me an opportunity to spend some time with him.’ Because you know, when you’re on the road, you don’t see your family ever. And it just grew a life of its own.”

On If It Was Weird For Her:

“It was weird when I had to make out with her father and her all on the same night. [laughs] It was okay, it was fine.”

On People Remembering the Angle:

“Oh, [people ask about it] all the time. Although it’s so funny, because a lot of people say, ‘Oh my God, that was the worst angle ever.’ But I’m like, ‘How? Everybody remembers it, so how is it horrible?’ Yeah, so if it was horrible then no one would remember, right? So I loved it. It was a great time.”
