The latest edition of The Wrestling Observer (via Wrestling Inc) has some insight into Vince McMahon’s thinking regarding recent NXT call-ups Lacey Evans, EC3, Heavy Machinery and Nikki Cross. The now former NXT wrestlers have appeared mostly in backstage segments on the most recent episodes of RAW and Smackdown, and brief cameos at that. Only Nikki Cross has had a significant role, teaming with Natalya and Bayley on Monday to defeat the Riott Squad.

McMahon wants the talent appearing backstage as a way to introduce audiences to them and get used to seeing their faces. WWE has not decided how to use the talent or which brand to put them on, but McMahon wants the audience to know them for when a plan is in place. According to the report, Vince believes that most of the audience does not currently know who they are.

Meanwhile, there is no real update about Lars Sullivan, except that WWE has been very supportive of him. He was set to work dark matches before episodes of RAW and Smackdown last week, but he didn’t show up due to his anxiety. That put a planned match with John Cena at Wrestlemania in limbo. Sullivan has been told to come back when he feels able to. He was not mentioned this week on WWE TV, but he was teased in WWE.com’s Smackdown preview.
