Dragon Gate Pays Tribute To PAC

Dragon Gate honored late AEW star PAC, real name Benjamin Satterley, with a 10-bell salute before its October 2 show at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo.

PAC joined Dragon Gate in the late 2000s and became one of the promotion’s prominent international wrestlers. During his run, PAC won the Open the Dream Gate Championship, Open the Brave Gate Championship, Open the Twin Gate Championship, and Open the Triangle Gate Championship. He returned to Dragon Gate in 2018 after leaving WWE. He later became a full-time AEW wrestler.

Dragon Gate wrestlers surrounded the ring as the bells were tolled during the pre-show tribute. Dragon Kid, who mentored PAC during his time with the company, held a photograph of him inside the ring. He later entered the ring for an eight-man tag team match to PAC’s old Dragon Gate entrance music.

Dragon Kid teamed with Naruki Doi, Susumu Yokosuka, and Luis Mante and dedicated their victory to the AEW wrestler. He kissed the late star’s picture before raising it during the post-match celebration. He also spoke about his former protege’s death and his connection to Dragon Gate. He described PAC as irreplaceable to the promotion. (via TokyoSports):

“It happened so suddenly that I still can’t believe it, but PAC was an irreplaceable wrestler for Dragon Gate. He left us with so many memories and wonderful matches. In his personal life, he was a sincere, funny, and kind gentleman,” Dragon Kid said. I hope PAC was able to meet Hayabusa, whom he loved so much, on the other side… I’ve loved him ever since we met 19 years ago, and he’ll always be a very important Dragon Gate comrade. Thank you, PAC. See you again, PAC.”

PAC died at age 40 on September 27, within 21 hours of competing at AEW All Out. His official cause of death remains pending additional testing following an initial autopsy. AEW also honored him with a 10-bell salute during its September 30 episode of Dynamite.
