El Hijo Del Vikingo Reportedly Injured Before Last Night’s WWE NXT

El Hijo del Vikingo was written out of his match on last night’s episode of WWE NXT, and a new report says that it was due to a injury suffered before the show. As noted, WWE ran an injury angle where Keanu Carver attacked Vikingo with a pipe, angry that EK Prosper was getting a shot at Vikingo’s AAA Latin American Championship and he wasn’t.

WWE had advertised the Vikingo vs. Prosper match leading up to the show, but it wasn’t listed in the WWE.com preview posted in the hours ahead of the show. PWInsider Elite reports (via Wrestling Inc) that the AAA star was injured when he was preparing for his match. The news was separately reported by Cory Hays of False Finish.

PWInsider Elite notes that the decision was made to hold off the match until Vikingo could be properly evaluated. At this time, there’s no word as to the injury’s severity or if Vikingo will miss time.

Vikingo has been AAA Latin American Champion for 32 days, having defeated El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. for the championship at Noche de Los Grandes in May.
