WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff recently teased Chad Gable wrestling for his amateur wrestling promotion, Real American Freestyle.
Gable is currently witnessing a career rejuvenation, thanks to his incredible work as the OG El Grande Americano and his memorable performance in the iconic Mask vs. Mask match against El Grande Americano two weekends ago.
On his 83 Weeks podcast, Eric Bischoff said that Chad Gable is “sniffing” around Real American Freestyle and could potentially wrestle there if his ongoing discussions with people he didn’t name come to fruition.
Here’s what Bischoff said [quotes via Wrestling Observer]:
“I’d be remiss if I didn’t point out that Chad Gable is a phenomenal, phenomenal amateur wrestler and is kind of sniffing around Real American Freestyle, just throwing it out there. We’re talking about it. There’s some contractual issues that can kind of make that difficult [when trying to get WWE names over to RAF], but we’re having discussions and relatively serious ones.
“So I think it’s just a matter of time. But also, I’m not going to mention any names, but I was having a conversation not too long ago with someone we all know, and [they’re] very excited about what we’re doing at Real American Freestyle. Again, comes from a collegiate amateur wrestling background.”
Notably, Real American Freestyle has a working relationship with the TKO-owned UFC, and several fighters have appeared on RAF shows in recent times. With WWE also under the TKO banner, it won’t come as a surprise if we get some representation from the promotion in the coming days.
