Gable Steveson is moving back to freestyle wrestling, signing with Real American Freestyle for a multi-match deal. Ariel Helwani reported on Wednesday that the WWE alumnus has signed with the wrestling company and will make his debut at RAF 9.
Steveson’s first opponent has yet to be revealed. RAF 9 will take place on May 30th in Dallas, Texas. Helwani noted that he’s heard RAF is “going after some big names” for Steveson.
Steveson is an Olympic gold medalist and, of course, a former WWE roster member. He was released from the company in May of 2024 and has since gone on to try his hand briefly at pro football before making his MMA debut at LFA 217 in September of last year. He is 3 – 0 in professional MMA.
Helwani said that Steveson’s first opponent will not be RAF Heavyweight Champion Wyatt Hendrickson, who beat Steveson in the final match of the 2025 NCAA Wrestling National Championships. It was noted that RAF will be “building up to that.”
Real American Freestyle was founded in April and airs on streaming service Fox Nation. Eric Bischoff serves as the company’s Chief Marketing Officer. It held its first event, RAF 1, in August of last year. The most recent event, RAF 06, took place in February and was headlined by a match between UFC alumni Henry Cejudo and Uriah Faber.
