Gunther made his anger known on this week’s WWE Smackdown as he took out Sami Zayn and Finn Balor in a segment featuring several Money in the Bank competitors. Friday’s episode featured an in-ring promo segment as Zayn was confronted by a number of competitors in the men’s Money in the Bank match later this month including Je’Von Evans, Trick Williams, and Penta.
Each of the three came out after Zayn had complained about not getting the respect that he deserves as WWE Champion, explaining in turn how they were going to win Money in the Bank and then beat him for the title. Zayn said none of them could do what he’s done and don’t deserve to be in the ring with him until they can overcome some of their own obstacles.
Zayn then left the ring but was confronted by Balor who said that briefcase or not, he’s coming for Zayn’s title. Zayn told him to do something to earn a shot, after which Balor decked Zayn. Balor went after the champion but Gunther came down and locked in a sleeper on Balor before throwing him into a ladder. Zayn tried to mollify Gunther but also got laid out.
Shortly after, Gunther was backstage and was asked about the attack by Cathy Kelley. Danhausen interrupted and scanned Gunther for evil, finding none. Gunther grabbed Danhausen and slammed him against the wall, then threw him into production crates.
