Hijo de Fishman has been released following his detention on involuntary manslaughter charges in the death of referee El Buho. As previously reported, El Buho died in the ring after a match on Tuesday at El Patrón Espectáculos’s event in Hidalgo, Mexico after being hit with a piledriver from Hijo de Fishman.

The death was being investigated on possible charges of manslaughter and Fishman had been detained and placed at the disposal of the Attorney General’s Office. Now, Superluchas reports that he has been released after reaching a settlement with the family of El Buho (real name Gerardo Germán Pineda).

The Hidalgo State Attorney General’s Office has confirmed that Pineda’s family requested to resolve the matter via a “restorative peace mechanism” and granted legal forgiveness in the case. The agreement was reached within the 48 hour deadline for authorities to determine his legal status, and included a payment for damages.

El Patrón Espectáculos has confirmed that he has been released. A legal team will hold a press conference to discuss the legal details of what happened as well as Fishman’s future.

A representative of the legal firm Magallán, Reyes y Asociados issued the following statement:

“To be precise, I would just like to emphasize that through the efforts of the firm, with the staff that makes up our team, a reparatory agreement was reached under which Mr. Hijo de Fishman is now free, through this reparatory agreement and compensation for damages.

“Due to these unfortunate events, in which, in a certain way, there was no situation that warranted going further in a legal process, we concluded. And so, his release was secured today.”

Reporter Leonardo Herrera says that according to the Hidalgo Attorney General’s office, the reparatory agreement includes a payment of 586,525 pesos (approximately $31,800 in USC). Authorities have yet to confirm that number.
