Reigning GHC Junior Heavyweight Champion Hiromu Takahashi was in action at today’s Battle Line Hokkaido Road to Destruction in Sapporo, Japan. Takahashi teamed with Yota Tsuji and Shingo Takagi in a losing effort against The War Dogs’ Gabe Kidd, David Finlay, and Taiji Ishimori. After the match, Takahashi confronted Ishimori, and per NJPW1972.com, stated that he “hadn’t been beaten like that for a while.” Takahashi also said he wouldn’t be satisfied beating Ishimori in a regular singles match coming up at NJPW Destruction in Kobe, deciding on his own to put his GHC title on the line.
During their post-match interaction, Takahashi stated to Ishimori that he wants to put his GHC Junior Heavyweight Title on the line for the upcoming bout. He also informed Ishimori that the winner will go on to defend the title against Eita in Ryogoku, Japan at a later date. Takahashi also added, “We don’t need checks and balances, nobody needs to ask NOAH.” So, it appears to be a unilateral decision on Takahashi’s part. NJPW1972 also notes, “Neither NOAH management nor Eita are likely to be pleased with the comments, but what will come to pass in Kobe?”
Telling Ishimori that the winner would go on to defend the title against Eita in Ryogoku. Hiromu insisted ‘we don’t need checks and balances, nobody needs to ask NOAH’, which likely cements the fact that this is a unilateral decision on Takahashi’s part. Neither NOAH management nor Eita are likely to be pleased with the comments, but what will come to pass in Kobe?”
NJPW Destruction in Kobe, featuring Hiromu Takahashi vs. Taiji Ishimori for the GHC Junior Heavyweight Title, takes place on Sunday, September 28 at the Kobe World Memorial Hall in Kobe, Japan. It will stream live on NJPW World.
