On the latest episode of The Snake Pit with Jake Roberts, Jacques Rougeau talked about two teams that he considered his favorite opponents: The Rockers (Shawn Michaels & Marty Jannetty) and The Hart Foundation (Bret Hart & Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart). You can check out some highlights below:
On working with the Hart Foundation: “I would say instant chemistry, just having a lot of fun. Anvil was a little stiff, but we got along. We kind of told him to smooth up a few things that he was doing there, because he was a little football player there and there. But after that, once we got everything all settled down, we worked four years with them. We worked for two years as babyfaces and them as heels with Jimmy Hart. And then after that Jimmy Hart switched to us. We became the Fabulous Rougeau Brothers with the little American flags and the Harts turned babyface. And then we worked another two years with them. So it was like, after four years, if you can’t have a good match with someone then you’ve got a problem.”
On having chemistry: “It was really fun. We got to know each other, we didn’t have to look behind us anymore. We knew what was coming. We knew the spots. We knew the guys, how they worked. And there was a lot of respect with us in the ring about getting heat and doing comebacks, and just making everything work. So yeah, it was, I enjoyed. I enjoyed them as much as The Rockers.”
On The Rockers: “Marty Jannetty and Shawn Michaels. It was just such a pleasure to work with them. It was like — Jesus, We had marathon matches with those guys. Like, one-hour matches, you know? And we’drock and roll in there, you know? But yeah, those those guys in tag teams, I think those are my two best tag teams that I that I enjoyed working with the most.”
