On the latest episode of Six Feet Under, JBL talked about his history with Eddie Guerrero, believing that he owes his entire career success to the former WWE Champion. JBL has often credited Guerrero with helping to get him over and spoke about the late star’s ability to call matches in the ring. You can check out some highlights below:
On Guerrero:
“Eddie Guerrero gave me the angle that not only made me but took the title off himself. So my whole career I owe to Eddie.”
On Guerrero’s Ability to Call Matches In the Ring:
“He walked out there. I always say it was like a live wire that wasn’t grounded, you know? Just electricity just shot in the crowd. Eddie couldn’t put a match together backstage to save his life. That wasn’t because he wasn’t smart; he felt things. He just got out there and did things. It was unbelievable.
“The match we had was so bloody in the Staples Center. Pat came, gave us the whole match. And I could tell Eddie didn’t like it. And I said, ‘Eddie, what’s wrong?’ He goes, ‘I don’t like it.’ And I said, ‘Which part of it?’ He goes, ‘None of it.’ And so I went to Pat, and I said, ‘Pat, we got an issue. Eddie doesn’t like it.’ He said, ‘Which part?’ I said, ‘None of it.’ He goes, ‘Guys, if you make it or don’t make it, it’s on you. So if you guys think you can go out there and do a match, do it.’ We went out there with no match planned, not even the finish. We knew we’re going to do a DQ, and we knew about the time limit, but that’s all we had. That was 100% feel with Eddie.”
