JBL Says Danhausen Is a ‘Mega Star’ In WWE
On the latest episode of Something To Wrestle With, JBL talked about the crossover ability of Danhausen with his recent curse on The New York Knicks and his drawing power. Danhausen earned some mainstream attention for his interactions with the Knicks in the NBA Playoffs. You can check out some highlights below:
On Danhausen appearing at New York Knicks games:
“My god, it’s unbelievable. That’s why this partnership with ESPN is so freaking big for professional wrestling. The opportunities it opens up for something like Danhausen. But again, you can give all the opportunities in the world. Danhausen created this himself. The kudos to that young man, he is a freaking mega star, and he deserves it.”
On Danhausen’s WWE Debut:
“You saw his debut, and I thought it was horrible. I was with everybody else. I didn’t think it was that good. I knew he would be a star, or at least I felt confident he would. I felt once people got to know him. It’s just so hard to see this and understand kind of what it is — even after you’ve seen it for several months, you really don’t know what it is. I think that’s part of the appeal of Danhausen, but I think when people saw it, they didn’t really understand it and thought, ‘Aw, this thing’s terrible.’
“I didn’t think it was that great, but I really felt like you give Danhausen the opportunity and some very creative people. You know, Hunter is very good about characters like this, about helping characters like this. Not that Danhausen needs help, but Hunter is very good about setting the table for them to allow them to have this success.”
