Hacksaw Jim Duggan says that he doesn’t remember telling The Sandman that there was a plan for them to win the WWE Tag Team Championships in 2007. The ECW legend relayed the story last month, noting that in 2007 Duggan walked up to him backstage as they were teaming on live events and said, “They’re thinking about putting the tag team straps on us.” Duggan spoke with WrestleTalk and was asked about the story, saying that it never happened.
“I think Sandman might have misspoke or something. I had very little interaction with Sandman, I think he might have been putting himself over.”
He continued, “Yeah I don’t see that, me and Slaughter maybe, but yeah I don’t see that brother. He might have come up with that one late at night.”
Duggan and Sandman made one TV appearance as a team on the July 23rd, 2007 episode of Raw.
