Hello everyone and welcome to 411mania’s LIVE coverage of AEW All In, I’m Robert Winfree and I’ll be your host. Per usual All In is basically AEW’s biggest show and they’ve stuffed this one to the gills. The main event is for the AEW world title with Kenny Omega having briefly gone crazy and heelish again in the last couple of weeks to offset Will Ospreay. The two have had lots of great matches before and this should be no different. We’ve also got a triple threat for the International title with Kyle Fletcher defending against Konosuke Takeshita and Kazuchika Okada, Jon Moxley defending the Continental title against Nigel McGuinness who’s making one final push for glory, Kevin Knight vs. Darby Allin for Knight’s TNT title, the tag belts on the line between the Middle Aged Bucks and Cage and Cope. The women’s tag belts will be on the line, we’ve also got Willow Nightingale defending the AEW women’s title against Mercedes Mone, a Casino Gauntlet for a future world title shot, and a bunch of stuff on the prelims including the trios titles up for grabs in a Royale Roulette. Hopefully we get a good show, the build has been a tad uneven but the good during it has been very good and there’s plenty of talent booked if nothing else. So let’s get to the action.

Persephone defeated Maya World to win the TBS title following the interference of a returning Britt Baker
The Royale Roulette is basically a Royal Rumble for trios, all three members of a team have to be thrown over the top rope to the floor for the team to be eliminated. Of course it also went long and wound up concluding on the PPV, because AEW just loves overstuffing things.

On commentary we’ve got Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, Taz, and Bryan Danielson. Bryan joined before the TBS title match on the preshow.

Match #1: Royale Roulette for the AEW Trios Titles

Joined in progress, just as the final team of Swerve Strickland and of course the former New Day now going by The New Level of Austin Creed and Kofi who lost his last name. Creed, Swerve, and Kofi get to run wild for a bit. Already eliminated have been Colten Gunn, Austin Gunn, Brody King, Roderick Strong, and Kyle O’Reilly. Creed and Kofi eliminate Bishop Kaun and Toa Leona. Wheeler Yuta gets eliminated by Orange Cassidy, then Ricochet tosses Cassidy to take the Conglomeration out of the equation entirely.

Hangman Adam Page is saved by Bandido, Bandido then with a gorgeous satellite DDT to Claudio Castagnoli. Swerve with a House Call to Bandido then goes face to face with Page. Ricochet gets involved and Page with a Buckshot Lariat off the back of Swerve to Ricochet. David Finlay and Clark Connors show up, then eliminate Bandido but Jay White takes out Connors. White and Finlay fight over the ropes to the apron, then White slings him down but Gave Kidd shows up to take out White and eliminate the Bang Bang Gang. Page with a Deadeye to Claudio, but Creed then kicks him. Creed and Kofi try to take out Page, but it’s Ricochet who eliminates Page from the apron with a triangle kick to eliminate the reigning champs.

Swerve easily dispatches Ricochet to a big pop. We’re down to the New Level taking on Claudio, Pac, and Gabe Kidd. Gabe is technically representing the Dogs here but will team up with the Death Riders here. Claudio with a Giant Swing to Kofi and Pac punctuates it with a dropkick. Kofi avoids elimination by hanging onto the bottom rope with his feet. Pac comes over to try and get rid of him, Kofi drops to the floor but onto his back so his feet don’t touch. Prince Nana comes over to wheelbarrow walk Kofi to the stairs an keep him in the match. Kofi comes back in as a house on fire, he and Creed hit the double stomp Decapitation on Kidd, Swerve then eliminates him with a House Call so the Dogs are done. Creed and Kofi then eliminate Claudio and Pac so the new debutantes win the titles.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Swerve Strickland and the New Level won the titles in 14:02 shown on PPV, it went longer than that overall though

Rating: 2.5 stars
Thoughts: Obvious outcome is obvious. That’s not a bad thing necessarily but it is definitely a thing that needs to be acknowledged. Swerve teaming with Creed and Kofi is an interesting team, expect violence with them and the former champs since Swerve and Page haven’t killed each other yet. The format might have needed a little work as well, this isn’t quite Russo era TNA layout but it’s not too far removed either.

Match #2 – AEW Women’s Tag Team Title Match: Divine Dominion (Megan Bayne and Lena Kross) vs. Brawling Birds (Alex Windsor and Jamie Hayter)

We get brawling right away then Bayne and Hayter start running each other over. Blind tag from Alex then she and Hayter double shoulder block Bayne. Bayne gets clotheslined out of the ring, Kross gets low bridged then Hayter tags back in to set up stereo dives from the challengers. Back in the ring Bayne boots Hayter off the apron and Kross drops Alex face first onto the apron then throws her with a release Falcon Arrow on the floor. Bayne and Kross ram Hayter into the barricade. Back in the ring Bayne with a nice Spear to cut Hayter in half. Bayne hangs Hayter across the top rope and steps on her to pose with Kross. Corner work from Bayne then a butterfly suplex. Kross tags in for a sliding clothesline and a 2 count. Bayne tags back in and Kross hits the Nakamura style sliding German suplex. Hayter tries to swing strikes at Bayne, Bayne just knees her down then tags out. Hayter is able to clothesline down Bayne, then one for Kross as well. Alex gets a tag and unloads on Kross then hits a misdirection clothesline. Chops for Bayne then a dropkick to send Bayne to the floor.

Back suplex, sort of, from Alex gets a 2 count. Hayter shows up but Kross avoids a tandem move then attacks Alex and tags in Bayne who launches Alex across the ring with a release German suplex and Hayter has to save the match. Hayter avoids a kick and Bayne kicks Kross instead. Double Death Valley Driver to Bayne but Kross shoves Hayter onto the pin to break it up. Everyone trades heavy blows then stereo Germans from each team, the champs do it again then clotheslines from the challengers and everyone’s down. Alex and Bayne are still legal and start trading elbows, that’s a losing proposition for Alex who runs into a leaping clothesline. Bayne hops up top in the face corner, Alex headbutts her then climbs up for a superplex, Bayne fights that off but Hayter tags in and climbs up too, they then hit a double team superplex. Hayter hits the ropes for a sliding knee strike which gets a 2 count. Bayne avoids a clothesline from Hayter then hits both Hayter and Alex with a double German suplex. Kross tags in, but Hayter counters the Bow Down with double DDTs, the champs just ignore that though. Kick and German suplex combo from the champs but Hayter kicks at 2. Bow Down from the champs but Alex pulls Kross out of the pin. Bayne yanks Alex onto the apron, and Alex hits her with a German suplex on the apron. In the ring Hayter with a backbreaker to Kross, then the challengers hit 2 Birds 1 Stone to win the belts.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Brawling Birds won the titles in 11:40

Rating: 3 stars
Thoughts: Nice little match, some decent hard hitting action but it did feel like there was something missing. I’m not sure there’s a genuine spark between these teams, this was serviceable but never quite hit third gear.

Match #3 – Continental Cup Finals and Continental Title Match: (c) Jon Moxley vs. Nigel McGuinness

Nigel grabs a full nelson early, Mox counters into a hammerlock so Nigel counters into an arm wringer. A few arm wringer counters, Nigel grabs a front headlock briefly then they wrestle into the ropes but we get a clean break from Nigel. They tie up, wind up in the ropes again and Mox stomps on the bad ankle of Nigel. Nigel fires up with chops and an uppercut, Mox powders but Nigel is still quite favoring his left ankle. Mox gets back in the ring and lands an inside leg kick, he’s got zero qualms about targeting an injury. Nigel avoids a corner charge and hits his downward lariat for a 2 count. Next Nigel goes for the arm of Mox, he ties up a short arm scissor then switches intd on his seat to keep the legs away from Mox, that stops working though and Mox starts going for the leg with kicks. Mox corners Nigel and chops him then goes to a 10 punch before biting Nigel, then a running dropkick to the bad leg which is tied up in the ropes. More o a modified omoplata. Nigel ties up the free arm of Mox behind his back and stretches it, but Mox rolls free after a second. Chop from Mox, his left arm is a target for Nigel now though. Both men land chops, Nigel switches to uppercuts, he tries the Jawbreaker Lariat but Mox intercepts with a basement dropkick to the bad leg.

Nigel swings arounankle attacks from Mox, he removes the tape around Nigel’s wrestling shoe and yanks on the ankle. Nigel then uses the removed bandaging to choke Mox then snaps him down by the bad arm a couple of times. Falling top wrist lock from Nigel then he tries the London Dungeon but Mox slips free. Corner work from Mox now in the form of clotheslines, but Nigel dodges one and uppercuts Mox to the top rope then hits the Tower of London for a 2 count. Mox then counters a drag into a LeBell Lock, but Nigel rolls through into one of his own. Nigel loses his grip to yank at the eyes of Mox, Mox then runs into Nigel and hits a Cutter.

Mox hits a Stomp on the bad ankle, because he’s a jerk. Nigel rallies the crowd as Mox calls him for a brawl, Nigel obliges and they start trading strikes. Boot from Mox, then a Jawbreaker Lariat from Nigel but he can’t cover as his leg just wont let him follow up. Ripcord lariat from Nigel to counter a Sleeper attempt. Nigel avoids a piledriver, Mox tries the Jawbreaker Lariat but Nigel intercepts with a lariat and a 2 count, but Mox turns the kickout into the Bulldog Choke. Mox tightens the choke, Nigel is able to counter though into the London Dungeon. Mox starts to panic, and tries to scoot around but Nigel repositions again and locks the hold down. Mox eventually rolls through and grabs an armbar then switches to an Ankle Lock, nice transition. Nigel screams in agony, then rolls through into a Victory Roll for a near fall, Mox tries for the leg again but Nigel kicks him free then tries a Rana pin to counter a Sunset Flip and gets another near fall.

Nigel with a flurry of strikes but Mox dodges an uppercut and grabs the Ankle Lock again. Mox bails on the lock to hit a Stomp, then grabs a seated Ankle Lock version. That’s tighter this time, Nigel reaches for the ropes and tries to drag himself to safety, Mox adjusts his grip to compress things even more then yanks it back. Nigel is just a fingertip away from the ropes but too far and has to tap out with his fingers just barely short of the break.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Jon Moxley won the Continental Cup and retained the Continental Title in 17:13

Rating: 4 stars
Thoughts: There was a bit of an energy from the crowd that was lacking on the submission work before we got the final stretch, which hurt things. That finish was gorgeous though, Nigel wasn’t shortening his arms to make it seem like he was out of range they really spaced that out beautifully so Nigel was stuck just short of the ropes. Heartbreaking but wonderful stuff from both men. If you’re not a fan of mat work this will rate lower, but I dig it and these two had some really fun grappling stretches.

Post match Mox leaves with the Cup and title belt, Nigel gets a lot of love from the crowd and takes a few bows on one leg because he’s a professional.

Match #4 – AEW International Title Triple Threat Match: (c) Kyle Fletcher w/ Don Callis vs. Konosuke Takeshita vs. Kazuchika Okada

Fletcher with some Donquixote Doflamingo gear, because he’s a giant nerd. Then again I got the reference so what does that say about me? Callis joins commentary but he’s unlikely to stay there. All three men stare down, then Fletcher superkicks Okada out of the ring. Takeshita sells that more than most, then he and Fletcher square up. Leaping clothesline from Takeshita. Some chops go back and forth, Fletcher hits the ropes and boots Takeshita to the apron then Okada yanks Takeshita down. Okada catches a Fletcher kick then drops him onto the apron, hits Fletcher with a hanging DDT and a DDT to Takeshita at the same time. Next Okada hits a rare dive, a full on tope con hilo onto both men. Okada sends Takeshita into the ring, then uppercuts him down. Mongolian chops from Takeshita, but he charges into the Air Raid Crash neckbreaker. Okada with a scoop slam then climbs up top and hits an elbow drop. Fletcher shows up behind a taunting Okada and hits him with a half and half suplex, then one for Takeshita as well. Okada gets lawn darted into the middle buckle by Fletcher, Takeshita then hits Fletcher with a Poisoned Rana, Fletcher cares not for selling though and catches Takeshita with a Michinoku Driver for a 2 count.

Corner kick from Fletcher to Takeshita, then everyone gets to hit big moves. Brainbuster from Okada to Fletcher, Takeshita hits Okada with a Rainmaker, then Fletcher hits Takeshita with a Raging Fire and everyone’s down. Okada gets a screwdriver from the ring spot, Fletcher stares him down and Okada offers him the screwdriver. Fletcher takes it and menaces Okada, Okada misses a Rainmaker on Fletcher and Takeshita with an elbow then a stack pin on Okada, then he catches Fletcher with a bridging German suplex to pin both men for 2. Takeshita grabs the screwdriver, then throws it away and unloads on both other men. Okada lands a gorgeous dropkick to Takeshita, Fletcher follows with a corner kick, Takeshita dodges a Rainmaker though and Okada wipes out Fletcher. Wrist control clotheslines from Okada to Fletcher now, but Fletcher intercepts a Rainmaker with his own clothesline. Fletcher misses a corner attack on Okada and Takeshita hits him with a Helluva Kick. Takeshita tries an avalanche Raging Fire but Fletcher slips free and lands a gamen giri. Fletcher up top with Takeshita now, but Takeshita counters a superplex into an avalanche tornado DDT then follows with a Power Drive knee for a 2 count. Raging Fire from Takeshita but here’s Okada to kill him with a Rainmaker only for Fletcher to break up the pin.

Okada stands tall, but Fletcher and Takeshita share a look and decide to team up on Okada it seems. Both men unload on Okada with elbows then a stereo rolling elbow and superkick to send Okada out of the ring. Takeshita and Fletcher stare down now, smile then start beating the crap out of each other with elbows. The brawl goes on for a bit until both men drop to their knees. Okada shows up but Takeshita tosses him out so Fletcher can hit a kick but Fletcher runs into a lovely Blue Thunder Bomb. Fletcher still cares not for selling and kicks Takeshita in the corner then hits the turnbuckle Brainbustaaa, but Okada shows up and murders Fletcher with a Rainmaker then pins Fletcher to win.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Kazuchika Okada won the title in 13:11

Rating: 3.5 stars
Thoughts: A good sprint but hurt by the overall spotty nature of the layout. This was mostly just going from spot to spot with little connective tissue beyond hitting the next sequence. It was executed well, and the crowd did care about the drama between Okada and Fletcher but this really felt disjointed.

Post match Fletcher, who still doesn’t get the concept of selling, pops up and yanks the belt away from Okada. Callis shows up to play peacemaker, and Fletcher hands the title to Okada. Okada demands Fletcher raise his hand in victory, and he does.

Match #5: Casino Gauntlet Match

The first two wrestlers are Andrade El Idolo and Maxwell Jacob Friedman. Per usual this is one fall, first pin or submission wins, and other wrestlers will show up at intervals if the match hasn’t ended by then. Immediate brawling to start, Andrade gets the best of that and corners MJF. MJF hits a back elbow to drop Andrade, his left leg is all taped up and he hits the slowest teabag ever. Andrade avoids a Heatseeker then removes his pants to teabag MJF with a hip thrust. MJF powders, Andrade then with a gorgeous triangle twisting crossbody onto MJF on the floor. Andrade takes pictures with a couple of plants in the audience, that lets Nick Wayne show up and hit him with a Poisoned Rana on the floor as Nicky boy is our next wrestler. Back in the ring MJF tries to make a team with Nick, Nick seems to agree as MJF crosses his fingers behind his back. Before much happens here’s Speedball Mike Bailey as number 4. On the floor Bailey unloads on Nick, then hits a springboard Sky Twister Press onto both men. Back in the ring Bailey up top and hits a Shooting Star Press onto Nick for a 2 count. Andrade and Bailey toss MJF out of the ring then each man hits a top rope moonsault to the floor onto the other two men. Andrade and Bailey then take each other out with boots on the floor.

As everyone’s down here comes Tommaso Ciampa as our next entrant. Ciampa takes his sweet time enjoying his entrance, before he gets all the way down here’s the music for entrant Chris Jericho as number 6. Ciampa just charges back up the ramp and attacks old man Jericho, but old man Jericho drops him because Ciampa is a chump. Jericho also now gets to take his sweet time as the crowd sings, Ciampa runs into a punch because he just hasn’t looked stupid enough in this feud yet. Everyone bumps for awful Jericho punches, I mean truly terrible punches from him on some of those. Jericho and MJF stare down, Jericho then gets him in the Walls of Jericho. Mark Davis shows up and spikes Jericho with a piledriver as he’s number 7. Piledriver for Andrade, then he catches a Bailey kick and piledrives him as well. One for Ciampa onto Bailey, that had to suck, then an Omega Driver to Nick. MJF backs into Davis, he offers a hand, Davis shakes but then yanks him into a gutwrench piledriver for a 2 count.

Out at 8 is Komander, Justin Roberts incorrectly announces him as Mistico and earns a loud “you fucked up” chant. Komander with a Crucifix Bomb to Davis, then he walks the ropes to springboard into a gorgeous dive onto the pile of bodies as Roberts correctly announces Komander. Back in the ring Komander with a rope walk into a moonsault onto Ciampa but everyone breaks up the pin. We get the four corner avalanche Hurricanrana spot, but Jericho sells his knee as he lands. Mistico comes out at 9, Roberts has a decent little joke at himself by saying the audience guessed Mistico was next. Mistico gets jumped on the apron by Daniel Garcia along with Marina Shafir as Garcia is number 10. Mistico hits a suicide dive onto Garcia, then kicks Andrade in the ring then follows with a springboard hurricanrana. Headscissors to Nick, then an armdrag to Ciampa. Next Mistico dives onto a pile of bodies on the floor.

In the ring Komander and Mistico square off, we get some lovely lucha spots then La Mistica to Komander but MJF breaks up that immediately. Mistico with a La Mistica attempt but MJF counters into a spinning Tombstone piledriver and Bailey has to break up the pin. Jericho is still down as Garcia dances in MJF’s face. Bailey shows up for an Ultimo Weapon onto Garcia’s back, then a running Spanish Fly to MJF for a 2 count. Ciampa with chops to Bailey, then he bites the foot of Bailey and kills him with a knee strike for a 2 count. Next out comes Jungle Jack Perry at 11. Perry goes right at Ciampa then hits a diving hurricanrana to Andrade to the floor, an orihara moonsault to a bunch of people, a running knee to Garcia as well. Perry grabs a Snare Trap on Ciampa in the ring, but Nick with a Splash to break that up. Rebound lariat to Nick from Jack, then he superkicks Davis. Perry with a piledriver to Davis but MJF breaks up the pin. MJF tosses Perry, but Jericho hits him with a Judas Effect for a 2 count. Jericho seems like that knee issue might be legit, he’s not moving well even by his standards. Nick with a diving Destroyer through the ropes to Perry to the floor, that was a rough landing.

Nick up top now and mostly misses a Phoenix Splash on Davis for a 2 count, that almost went very very badly by landing on the head of Davis. MJF shows back up and talks with Nick, they shake hands again then MJF takes him to dick kick city, hits a Heatseeker, but Andrade mercs him with the Dia de los Muetros elbow then pins Nick to win.

Rating: 3 stars
Thoughts: Fun enough, but I feel like whatever happened to Jericho messed things up. Andrade getting the win was a nice call, Davis looked like a tank again, Nick is incredibly dislikable, Ciampa still looks like a bit of a goof though.

Match #6 – AEW Tag Team Title Match: (c) Cage and Cope (Christian Cage and Adam Copeland) vs. Young Bucks (Nick and Matt Jackson)

Cage and Matt start us off, they tie up and Matt backs things into the corner but gives a clean break. The crowd sing at Cage, similar the “Hey Bailey” song but end it with “will you be my dad” which is funny. Cage corners Matt, but also gives a clean break. Cage grabs a side headlock then hits a shoulder break before slapping the taste out of Matt’s mouth and tagging out. Cope comes in and double legs Matt then everyone shows up, Nick gets tossed out of the ring then Matt gets double teamed in the corner. Cage tabs back in and we get a side slam and reverse DDT tandem move for a 1 count. Matt with a jawbreaker then Nick tags in and we get some of the usual Bucks tandem work. Stereo Bulldogs from the Bucks. Matt tags back in and they again run through some usual spots. Nick tags back in and goes after the arm of Cage, Matt tags in and Cage flips out of a double back suplex and hits a double reverse DDT then tags in Cope. Cope gets to run wild for a bit but runs into a double superkick. Cage breaks up a double team dive and rams Nick into Matt’s backside, setting up Cope for an apron piledriver onto Matt.

Cage tags in and hits a neckbreaker onto Matt then tags out. Cope with a neckbreaker of his own as they’ve got a target on Matt now. Matt still kicks out at 1. Cage tags in and stomps away at Matt in the corner. Cope and Cage are trying to work heel but the crowd isn’t going to boo them. Snapmare into a chin lock from Cage, then he hits a back elbow and cheap shots Nick off the apron. Cage with his corner stretching spot, then misses the follow up punch and Nick lands a kick from the apron. Matt dodges Cope, tries to tag but Cage yanks Nick off the apron at the last second. Matt dodges a Spear, then avoids counters a Killswitch into one of his own. Nick gets the hot tag and gets to run wild for a bit, double stomp to Cope into a rolling Backstabber to Cage. Cage gets sent out of the ring, Nick then hits Cope with a springboard X-Factor and does the moonsault to Cage on the floor but might have tweaked a leg.

Back in the ring Cope takes Risky Business but kicks at 2. Nick checks on his right ankle, seems OK but Cage yanks him to the apron, Nick tries to kick Cage against the ring post but Cage moves and Nick kicks steel. Cage then yanks Nick face first onto the apron. Back in the ring Cope goes after the bad leg of Nick, he grabs a single Boston Crab and yanks on it. Nick has to grab the ropes to save himself, then Cage tags in. Cage gets sent to Matt and Mat with a back body drop that sends Cage to the floor. Matt tags in and fights with Cope, then hits a twisting Cutter to Cage from the apron. Cope gets snapped over the top rope, then Matt sends Cage back into the ring. Matt avoids a tornado DDT and hits the rolling Northern Lights suplex series and eventually hits both Cage and Cope. The Bucks want the TK Driver, but Nick’s ankle gives out on the ropes and he crashes to the mat. Cage, behind the refs back kicks Matt in the dick and hits Nick with a Twist of Fate. 3D to Matt but only a 2 count. Cage puts Matt up top and climbs up with him, they fight for position then Cage shows up to put Cage on his shoulders, Cage thumbs the eyes of Matt and both the C’s hit a delayed superplex. Nick shows up and hits a 450 Splash to both Cope and Cage so everyone’s down.

Nick tags in, he trades punches with Cage until Cage kicks him in the leg. Superkick from Nick, but Cope hits him with an Impaler DDT. Cope lines up a Spear on Nick, Nick jumps though and Matt lands a superkick. Superkick to Cage, then a BTE Trigger set up, then they sling Cage into a Cope Spear. Matt with a Spear to Cope, then a BTE Trigger to Cage but Cope barely breaks up the pin. Another BTE Trigger to Cage, but Cage kicks at 2.8. He was close enough to the ropes he could have grabbed them I think. Matt tags back in, they want the TK Driver on Cage, but Cope’s here to Spear Nick out of the air, Killswitch to Matt then a tossing Spear to Matt as well but of course only a near fall as Matt kicks out. Cage goes out of the ring, gets the title belt, the ref takes it from him but Cage has a wrench as well and hits Nick in the bad knee with it. Matt rolls up Cage for 2. Cage behind the refs back whacks Matt with the wrench, then hits an assisted Spear from Cope and gets the pin.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Cope and Cage retained the titles in 20:06

Rating: 3.5 stars
Thoughts: The crowd really hurt this match, they were into it but absolutely refused to boo Cage and Cope who were trying darn near everything to get heat. The Bucks did a solid job of selling but they also just kind of play the hits for such long stretches of a match like this that it’s hard to really get too invested because they don’t play with that stuff very often. Still a good match, but the crowd energy felt off and that knocks it down a peg.

Post match here’s the Motor City Machine Guns, remember they exist? Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin walk down to stare down with the champs. Oh, but also here’s FTR, remember they exist? Everyone stares down and jaw jacks, then the New Level show up as well and I’m pretty sure we do remember them from a few hours ago. Cope and Cage are surrounded by incredible talent and everyone still stares down then the champs head out as no one else will be reminding us they exist I guess.

Match #7 – AEW TNT Title Falls Count Anywhere Match: (c) Kevin Knight vs. Darby Allin

Darby dodges a belt shot then attacks him in the corner but runs into a belt blow to the back. Knight with punches to the downed Darby then corners him and keeps firing some punches. Knight starts looking under the ring, he finds a table but as he’s pulling it out Darby with a suicide dive onto him. Darby is bleeding from the back of his head, he launches Knight into the ring steps then pulls them out and next to the apron. Shotgun dropkick from Darby sending Knight into the barricade, Knight then launches Darby over the steps and follows by leaping off the apron and taking him down with a clothesline. Knight covers Darby on the announce table for 2, then he heads into the ring and does a springboard clothesline to Darby seated on the announce desk, that landing looked rough as his knees seemed to hit the edge of the table which did not give. That leads to a cover on the floor for 2. Knight goes under the ring again and tosses some chairs into the ring, there’s quite a lot of them. Darby gets set up top, Knight climbs up with him and looks to superplex Darby onto the pile of chairs, Darby fights him off and rakes the back then hits an avalanche Code Red to launch Knight knee first onto a chair, then another Code Red from Darby.

Darby sets up the chairs, but here’s Brian Cage and Jake Doyle to attack Darby. Cage sets up the 6 chairs backs together as Jake sends a ladder into the ring. Darby, madman that he is, takes a back body drop onto the chairs crotch first then the goons clear the chairs. Cage and Jake tape up Darby’s hands behind his back but here comes help for Darby as Steven Borden has a chair and whacks them with it. Borden then gets knocked down by Borden. Cage gets sent into Jake and Borden dropkicks Jake out of the ring. Cage lands a superkick, then sets up a table in the corner. Borden gets powerbombed through the table, Darby then boots Cage and hits a diving hurricanrana, and a suicide dive onto Knight on the floor. Cage then clotheslines Darby down, he then hits a superplex over the ropes to floor Darby. Darby gets put in the tree of woe, Knight then shows up for a Coast to Coast, but the lights go out. Seek and Destroy hits and here comes The Icon Sting. Sting, white hair and all, marches down with a baseball bat in hand.

Sting disposes of Cage and Jake with bat shots on the floor then menaces Knight. Darby has freed his hands, gets the bat from Sting and assaults Knight with it setting up Sting to hit a Scorpion Death Drop. Borden gets the giant ladder and sets it up, then Sting and Borden climb it, and in a very cool moment Sting gives his son his love and climbs down so Borden can leap onto Cage and Jake on the floor. Father and son fight the goons to the back leaving Darby and Knight alone. Knight runs up the ramp but Darby has the bat and chases him screaming obscenities. All the way up to the stage, Knight avoids a bat shot and we get a hockey fight. Knight rakes the eyes of Darby but then runs into the light scaffolding truss. Darby chokes Knight, then looks up at the scaffolding. Darby, channeling his inner Shane McMahon, climbs up and hits a sickening Coffin Drop from very high up that drives Knight through the stage. They cut to the crowd for a bit as they clean up the landing zone so you can’t see the crash pads when Darby climbs back onto the stage.

They’re stretchering Knight, Darby cares not and hits another Coffin Drop and covers him on the floor to pin and win.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Darby Allin won the title in 15:48

Rating: 3 stars
Thoughts: Not quite as wild as I was expecting, but that last big fall from Darby was kind of crazy. The Sting stuff feels a tad perfunctory at this point, it got a pop and seeing him with his son was what redeemed it from being just a lazy bit of booking. All the bells and whistles in terms of interference felt more like a hinderance than something that bolstered what was going on.

Match #7 – AEW Women’s Title Match: (c) Willow Nightingale vs. Mercedes Mone

Willow overpowers Mone and corners her then lands strikes. Mone lands a right hand, then Willow shoves her to the floor but Mone’s legs got tied up so her knee is messed up. Cannonball senton from Willow to the floor. Back in the ring Willow with some corner clotheslines then a clothesline out in space for a 1 count. Mone avoids a charge and Willow spills to the floor, then she kicks the bad hand of Willow. Mone tries a baseball slide, fails, and just hits a right hand. Willow stalls out a charging Mone and swings her into the barricade. Low crossbody from Willow for a 2 count. Mone is bleeding from the nose, maybe the bridge of the nose and it looked unintentional. Willow with a reverse Alabama Slam, Mone ripped the padding off of the corner though and rams Willow face first into it because what’s selling right? Tornado DDT from Mone gets barely a 2 count. Mone kicks the bad hand of Willow during some corner work, then hits a Meteora for a 2 count. Omoplata from Mone, then she twists around the bad hand a few times.

Mone with a farthest nelson set up into a Camel Clutch. Willow backs Mone into a corner then she tries an Oklahoma Stampede, Mone counters but Willow with a left side clothesline to the back of the head. Mone, who as established cares not for selling, just goes for the 3 Amigos, the first two hit then they roll to the apron for the third but Willow counters into a suplex to the floor. Both women are down on the floor, the ref starts counting and both women beat the count. They start trading elbows from their knees, up to their feet and more elbows. Willow lands an overhand chop, Mone with a slap then Willow fires up with clotheslines. Corner attack from Willow, but she misses a kick, Mone tries a Backstabber but Willow stalls that out then boots her down. Willow goes up top, Mone kicks her then climbs up there and grabs a kimura. Willow counters the kimura into an avalanche body slam then follows with a dropkick for a 2 count.

Mone with a cutthroat Backstabber but only a 2 count. Next Mone grabs the bad wrist and climbs up top, Willow chops her then climbs up top and we get a second rope Spanish Fly from Willow which gets a 2 count. Also yeah, that blood on Mone is coming from the bridge of her nose. Mone with an armbar into the Statement Maker. An awkward variation on this one, Willow reaches for the ropes then has to roll through but pulls Mone up on her back then hits a Death Valley Driver into the corner. Mone avoids a cannonball senton, then follows with then Sunset powerbomb into the corner. More corner work from Mone, she wants her own cannonball senton but Willow gets the boots up to block that. Willow fires up, climbs up top and slips which allows Mone to attack. Willow still knocks her down then climbs up again because repeat the spot, she hits a moonsault that she was clearly supposed to miss so Mone has to just kick at 2. Mone was trying to roll towards the corner, which you should do normally to avoid the legs but Willow fell short so she just got squashed. Willow can’t hit Babe With The Powerbomb, Mone rams her face first into the exposed buckle, hits the Mone Maker but only a near fall.

Well with that spot we just need Mone to kick out of the Powerbomb and we can get to the real finish. Mone attacks the bad hand of Willow, the ref gets in her face about that then Willow Pounce’s Mone into the ref. Not sure we needed a ref bump in this match. The ref might have hurt her left knee on that bump, no bueno given how Mone landed on her. Mone and Willow fight to the floor and Mone slams her bad hand onto the announce table, then onto the ring steps. Mone unwraps the cast on Willow and yanks on the fingers. Now Mone gets the belt and poses with it but Willow avoids a belt shot and kicks Mone so she lands on the ring steps, sort of. Oddly positioned. Willow gets the belt now and whips Mone with it a few times. Back in the ring Willow hits Babe With The Powerbomb, the ref slowly crawls over but Mone kicks at 2. So now we can maybe get to the finishing stretch. The ref is hurt, she went down badly on that landing from Mone so her knee is likely toast.

Willow hauls Mone up and Buckle Bombs her into the exposed corner, that can’t have felt good. Mone rolls to the apron, Willow pulls her up top for an avalanche Doctor Bomb but Mone counters into a hurricanrana. Backstabber from Mone, then Willow counters a Mone Maker into a Backslide for 2. Head kick from Mone then she counters a Doctor Bomb with a Statement Maker. Willow crawls for the ropes, Mone ties up her arms for a cutthroat version and Willow goes out.

Rating: 3 stars
Thoughts: This just didn’t click for me. Mone bores me in general but her injuring the ref really rubbed me the wrong way here. This didn’t need the ref bump to begin with and it just got a ref injured for no good reason. This was overlong, way too much in the predictable formula of Mone’s “big” matches, and just sloppy in multiple places.

Match #8 – AEW Title Match: (c) Kenny Omega vs. Will Ospreay

Omega and Ospreay both have seconds with them, Ospreay people I don’t recognize and Omega has the Bucks. I think Omega is rocking All Might inspired gear, which could portend great tragedy. They stare down for a bit then tie up, Omega forces Ospreay into the ropes then chops him but Ospreay is unimpressed and unloads a series of chops on Omega. They start trading elbows, Omega grabs a side headlock then hits a shoulder block but Ospreay kips up. Omega rakes the eyes to take over and goes for the neck of Ospreay. Omega avoids a corner attack but Ospreay flips through a hurricanrana then hits one of his own and follows up with a boot to send Omega out of the ring. Ospreay with a plancha to the floor then he poses on the barricade. Some ringside brawling from Ospreay before both men head into the ring. Another chop from Ospreay then some knees in the corner. Ospreay to the apron but Omega catches him and throws him into the ring then just slams Ospreay down by the face. Neck cranks from Omega now then a dropkick to the back of the neck.

Chop from Omega then some corner work. They trade chops then Omega whips Ospreay to the corner and follows up with a backbreaker. Nice neckbreaker from Omega, hangman/Terry Funk style and Ospreay bumped nicely. Omega exposes one of the metal couples that holds the buckles to the ring post, then stretches Ospreay neck first around it. Omega wants the inside out superplex, Ospreay chops out of that though then hits the Phenomenal Forearm and both men are down. Ospreay kips up and fires elbows, Omega swings back at him though before running into an enziguri, then a handspring twisting kick from Ospreay which gets a 2 count. Knee from Ospreay then a jawbreaker and a head kick to set up a standing Sky Twister Press but Omega gets the knees up to block that. Ospreay counters a suplex with a Stunner, then he runs into a chop. Omega with a chop to the back of the neck, then a Finlay roll but Ospreay catches him on the follow up and ties him in the ropes and lands a kick to the face then a springboard Sunset Powerbomb off the ropes.

Twisting tornado kick to the back of Omega’s neck only gets a 2 count for Ospreay. Omega powders, Ospreay follows with a Sky Twister Press to the floor which wipes out Omega. Ospreay breaks the count then rams Omega into the announce table. Omega sort of bounces Ospreay’s head into a table, bad camera angle on that one, then Omega kicks Ospreay into the announce table’s side. Now Omega takes the table and tries to hit Ospreay with it, Ospreay blocks that, the table winds up stood up on one of the legs at a 45 degree angle. Ospreay shoves the ref as the ref begs him for sanity, that lets Omega crush Ospreay with a monitor. The ref didn’t see that, the second’s all come over and things get tense at ringside. While the ref calls for backup Omega takes apart the announce table and drags Ospreay on top of it. Omega then with a powerbomb from the announce table to the other one, Ospreay is bleeding from that monitor shot and both men are down.

Omega gets in the ring and looks to take the count out win. Ospreay, leaving a trail of blood, crawls to the ring as Nigel encourages him from commentary. Ospreay does beat the count but he’s met with a hellacious V Trigger from Omega. Omega heads to the apron with Ospreay, Omega going maniacal is always a good time, and he hits a Dragon Suplex on the apron. As Ospreay is down Omega asks him where his friends are? They’re gone because Ospreay is weak, selfish, and a fool. Omega with a dive onto Ospreay. The doctor checks on Ospreay and Omega threatens him to back off. Back in the ring Omega goes up top, the dazed Ospreay staggers up and Omega crushes him with a missile dropkick to the back of the neck. Wonderful sell from Ospreay. V Trigger from Omega to the back of the head, then he puts Ospreay up top and climbs up with him looking for an avalanche Dragon suplex but Ospreay fights that off so Omega elbows him in the back of the head a few times. Another attempt from Omega, this time he hits the avalanche Croyt’s Wrath for a near fall. Slightly mistimed kick out from Ospreay there.

Omega wants another V Trigger, but Ospreay grabs his leg to stop him so Omega unloads knees to the head and ribs until Ospreay rolls into the ropes. Omega avoids a right hand then hits a snap Dragon suplex. Another snap Dragon suplex from Omega. Ospreay seems out of it as Omega hits another V Trigger to the back. Ospreay rolls to the ropes, Omega tries another V Trigger but Ospreay intercepts with a Hidden Blade and both men are down. Ospreay staggers up, still unsteady but he lands an elbow. Omega is happy to trade with him right now, Omega is bleeding from the right eyebrow after that Hidden Blade. Jabs from Omega, Ospreay fires back with chops but Omega is out punching him. Headbutt from Ospreay, the bloody Brit stands tall soaked in his own blood then goes to Kawada kicks to Omega. Omega looks incredible as there’s just blood around the one eye, then Ospreay with a sickening punt kick to Omega, that landed to the good eye and might have blinded Omega.

Hook kick from Ospreay, rolling elbow as well then an enzui elbow. Omega collapses and Ospreay drives elbows to the back of the head until the ref pulls him off to start counting Omega down. The crowd booed that, they wanted more blood. Omega staggers up into a Hidden Blade but only a near fall. Ospreay tries the Tiger Driver 91, but Omega slips free and hits a V Trigger, then another one but Ospreay flips through a lariat into the powerbomb then switches to a Styles Clash but all for just a near fall. Ospreay tries an Os Cutter but Omega intercepts with just a single and brutal knee strike to the back of the head. Both men are down again, they slowly pull themselves up to their knees, then vertical and start trading punches again. Body blows from Omega but Ospreay fires back with elbows, only to run into a V Trigger, then another to the back and a Poisoned Rana but Ospreay stands, hits the ropes only to run into another V Trigger. Tiger Driver 91 from Omega! That was brutal looking but Omega doesn’t cover. Omega with another V Trigger, then the One Winged Angel but Ospreay kicks at 2! That’s slightly absurd, as long as they don’t repeat anything that out there they wont jump the shark though.

Ospreay still sells this like death as he rolls to the ropes. Omega rolls over next to him and continues with psycho ranting, he tries another V Trigger which connects. Ospreay counters another One Winged Angel into a sickening Tiger Driver 91 and both men are down yet again as Ospreay is too battered to follow up. Both men stagger upright, Ospreay misses a punch and collapses while Omega is just trying to wake his left arm up. Omega can’t move that left arm right now, but he can knee Ospreay in the head though. Another V Trigger from Omega, he tries a third but Ospreay catches it then unloads palm strikes, and hits his own One Winged Angel but Omega kicks at 1, Ospreay then kills him with a Hidden Blade and a Stormbreaker but Omega kicks at 1 yet again. That’s a bit much guys. Omega slumps to his knees, Ospreay removes his elbow pad, lets Omega know it’s coming and kills him with a final Hidden Blade to pin and win.

Rating: 4.5 stars
Thoughts: That was pretty darn great, these two have always worked very well together and this was no exception. That second kick at 1 though, man it felt so unnecessary. But Ospreay sold like death for much of this, Omega leaned into his sadistic side, and for as choreographed as these two tend to feel at times they made this feel like a genuine struggle for big stretches. It only dipped into the self indulgent side of things instead of living there for long stretches. I can’t quite get over that second kick at 1 though, it was just enough to keep me from going the full 5 stars but still a great bout and easily the best of the night.

Post match Ospreay celebrates with the title, Omega’s right eye is visibly swelling up and still leaking blood.
