Keep Refreshing For The Latest Results
SICKOS! It’s Wednesday, you know what that means! AEW Dynamite New Years Smash is LIVE tonight from Omaha, Nebraska, as we are set to spend New Years Eve with our favorite wrestling company! And, coming off the heels of Worlds End this past Saturday, there is a lot of change within the landscape of AEW.
One of those changes came in the form of a new Continental Champion seeing as to how, per the rules of the recent Continental Classic, with Kazuchika Okada losing to Jon Moxley, it makes him the new Continental Champion. And in that same vein, Moxley will face Josh Alexander in an eliminator, with the opportunity for Alexander to earn himself a title shot should he be victorious.
Stemming from results that occurred either on the Zero Hour or the main show itself, we will have two title matches tonight. Since Jack Perry was the one to pin Ricochet in their 8-man match on Saturday, he has earned himself a shot at Ricky’s National Title, and as a result of not only helping her team to retain their tag team titles but also pinning Mercedes Mone, Willow Nightingale will face Ultimo Mone for her TBS Title.
And perhaps the most seismic of these changes came in the form of a new Men’s World Heavyweight Champion, as MJF was able to defeat Hangman Adam Page, Swerve Stewart Strickland, and defending champion Samoa Joe to make good on his guaranteed contract cash-in. As such, we will hear from the new champion tonight, more than likely in a braggadocio’s promo with lots of insults, whether directly or indirectly. All of this and, of course, so much more in store for us!
I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year’s Eve and Day, and I want to thank you for deciding to spend it here, hanging out in the Dynamite live chat! And if you choose to go out and celebrate the occasion, please be careful out there. It’s bad enough that some people are so stupid to go drunk driving, but it’s always worse on New Years Eve. Compounding the situation is the fact that, at least in my area, we have snow all over the place. So, be safe, be careful, and stay away from hollow New Years resolutions lol.

Tonight, New Years Smash Dynamite is LIVE from Omaha, Nebraska! The man behind the mask, Excalibur and the inevitable Tony Schiavone are on the call tonight!
YOU WANTED WAR!!!
Excalibur runs down the matches for tonight, including the Death Riders facing Strong, Cassidy, and Toni Storm. That’s notable because Moxley is going up against Alexander, who is clearly a heel. So, the face turn of Moxley while the others are still wrestling as heels is one to keep an eye on.
Video package, featuring highlights from Worlds End this past Saturday.
MJF gets out of a fancy vehicle and heads into the arena. A woman takes his big fur coat as he steps inside. As if on cue, his music hits, and our favorite scumbag is in the arena.
CUT MY MUSIC, CUT MY MUSIC! Swerve Strickland is the franchise, Samoa Joe is the Samoan Submission Machine, Hangman Page is your main character. Guess what, folks? I am MJF, you’re new World Champion! So, fuck all three, it’s just big me, and my brand spanking new TRIPLE B!
Settle down, folks, I have the microphone. A lot of people are mighty unhappy with me. They think it isn’t fair that he outsmarted, outwitted, and destroyed their favorites. How about NO? How about every single wrestler in my sport, if you are dumb enough to think you are on the level of the Devil, you have two choices. Either step up or get stepped on. He is a stallion; he is done slow trotting so the donkeys can keep up. From no one, he is going to sprint, and no one will catch him until he reaches the finish line and goes down as the best of all time. Because his name is Maxwell Jacob Friedman, and I am better than you, and you know it.
KENNY OMEGA is on the screen! You made me feel a certain kind of way. You make him feel like he is reaching the end of his career than getting closer to the beginning. He hates not leaving that stone unturned. He wonders what would have happened if MJF didn’t beat him to become the longest reigning AEW World Champion. This isn’t about the best in the world against the Best Bout Machine, or the Cleaner, or the Belt Collector. He wants just one title, and if he gets a shot next week, or if he has to scratch and claw his way to it, he will win it back. So, he must bid you adieu and goodnight.
MJF says that Omega wasn’t man enough to come out here and say that to his face. But you know who is? Hangman Adam Page! And, yes, Swerve Strickland, too! Both men can be seen in the crowd, as MJF backs up into the corner with his Triple B. Security is here to keep Page and Strickland from getting to MJF, though.
MJF says he knows that both men want a shot at him, but he is a professional. And he believes that wins and losses matter in this company. So, go pick yourself up some wins, go talk to Tony Khan, and then come and talk to me. But until then, bye-bye! Not for nothing, but it sounded like MJF said CODY Khan lol.
MJF runs off as Page and Strickland enter the ring. Security proceeds to get wrecked. Another day at the office. Neat to see Page do a Buckshot Lariat off the back of Swerve, though. What besties lol.
Page gets a mic. MAXWELL! I will get ahold of you, and I will strangle you with that ugly ass belt before I take it away from you. Swerve says you better pray that this man gets to you before I can. I have only shown you a part of what I am capable of. So may the worst man win!
Samoa Joe and the Opps are on the screen. Is he hearing this right? You two don’t deserve a rematch, Joe does! There are always obstacles in my way, and I know how to take care of them. HANGMAN! You had the nerve to put your hands on Hook, the best second-generation wrestler. He has told Hook to choke out Hangman on site. And Strickland, meat is back on the menu, as he is sending Hobbs after Swerve.
Page says new year, same dumb shit. Send Hook, send Hobbs, it doesn’t matter. Strickland says we’ll do this next week in a LIGHTS OUT MATCH!
No, please, guys, we need to keep talking. Where is everyone going?
Renee Paquette has The Conglomeration (and none-Conglomerating member Roddy Strong), and Briscoe says in the year of the Lord in 2026, they will be entering with Willow winning the TBS Title. Renee says that they are running back the Mixed Nuts, and Briscoe says the word of the day is asphyxiation.
Timeless Toni Storm is here! She wants to know how citrus boy is doing. Mina Shirakawa is here. She wants Cassidy to keep his hands out of his pants and off of Toni. Storm says this is professional, and he is not even her kind. Luther hands her an orange, she eats it, and they head off. Strong screams RENEE, then says he wants no part of this. I agree lol.
The Mixed Nuts variation must continue.
The Death Riders vs. Orange Cassidy, Roderick Strong, and Timeless Toni Storm
Apparently, this is a Tornado Tag Match, and the Death Riders are Claudio, Garcia, and Shafir.
The bell rings, and everyone fights. Storm is left in the ring to hit a Thesz Press on Shafir. She mounts and punches Shafir in the corner, while the guys fight outside. Claudio is back, and he throws Storm out of the ring. Strong is here with chops and a dropkick to Claudio. Roddy rains down punches on Claudio in the corner. Garcia back in, he mounts Strong with some punches in the corner. He fakes his dance, and steps down, but he eats a thrust kick from Cassidy.
Cassidy to the corner, he mounts Garcia for punches but lands one and then walks away and celebrates lol. Shafir is back in with a Full Nelson on Cassidy. Cassidy fights his way out, but Garcia is back and hits a snap German on Cassidy. Cassidy staggers to the corner, as the Death Riders run train on Orange and hit their tandem free style soccer kick. That’ll take us to break.
The Death Riders all stomp on Strong in the corner as we return. Garcia holds up Strong so he can take a chop from Shafir. Strong breaks free and chops Garcia and Claudio, but not Marina. He does try to hit a suplex on her, but Claudio and Garcia break it up. Storm is back to attack Shafir, and Cassidy is back to fight with Garcia. The Death Riders turn the tables, but they miss corner charges. Cassidy and Storm come to center and they dance! They keep using one another to strike the Death Riders. Okay, that’s funny.
Claudio is back, and they double clothesline him to the mat. Cassidy with a PK to Claudio. TONI IS GOING TO DO THE GIANT SWING TO CLAUDIO LOL. Shafir is back to break it up though and she puts the Mothers Milk on Cassidy. Roddy is back in to give his not wife the backbreaker! Claudio catches Cassidy, but he eats the Stun Dog Millionaire. Storm pulls up her tights and hits the hip attack on Claudio. Claudio walks into a DDT from Cassidy. Wheeler Yuta is here as he chokes out Cassidy! Claudio with a running uppercut to Cassidy, and that wins it for his team.
WINNER: The Death Riders
TIME: 9:30
THOUGHTS: A few fun spots, but the abrupt and sudden ending kind of killed this one for me.
RATING: **3/4
Bandido and The Beast Mortos will face off next.
COMMERCIALS!
Excalibur highlights the Mone-Nightingale match for later tonight. That brings us to a video package for Ultimo Mone. Gee, I wonder if this could be telegraphing anything lol.
MASKED MEN UNITE!
ROH World Champion Bandido vs. FRANK Mortos W/Sammy the Ego
The bell rings as we get LUCHA chants. Bandido is strong, but I don’t know if he is stronger than Frank. Mortos goes behind and shoves Bandido into the corner. Bandido with a back elbow, as he takes his cape off of the corner. Mortos charges in and Bandido pulls his cap away LOL! Mortos falls for it a second time but not a third time, as he hits a wicked headbutt to Bandido. He goes to the floor, Mortos takes flight and hits a Tornio.
Back in the ring, reversals and counters are traded, Mortos with a roll-up for a two. One from Bandido gets him a two as well. Bandido sweeps out the legs of Mortos, so FRANK responds in kind. Bandido does it again and puts the finger guns at Mortos. Mortos takes offense and charges Bandido, only to end up out on the floor. Bandido puts on his cape, heads to the top, and hits a crossbody block to Mortos on the floor! That’ll send us to the break.
Mortos has managed to turn the tables and gets a pin for a two as we return. Mortos rubs his boot on the face of Bandido, so he rolls him up for a two. Bandido spins all around the world and snaps off a flying head scissor. Thrust kick from Bandido, he heads to the top, and he gets Froggy! Mortos kicks out at two. THIS IS AWESOME chants, as Mortos catches Bandido with a back elbow and a Crucifix Bomb. A Samoan Drop from Mortos follows for a two.
Mortos picks up Bandido, but he slips out the back door. Bandido tries to pick him up, but he can’t, as Mortos hits a back breaker into a discus lariat but that’s ONLY a two. ANOTHER discus lariat incoming from FRANK. Mortos heads to the top rope, but his moonsault hits the mat. Bandido with a kick to the gut and he has Mortos up! X-Knee, off the ropes, 21-Plex, and Bandido wins!
WINNER: Bandido
TIME: 9:50
THOUGHTS: A really good match-up between two awesome wrestlers. Bandido winning was an adamant conclusion, as he faces MJF in two weeks’ time, but Mortos played his part well.
RATING: ***3/4
Moxley and Alexander will be up next!
COMMERCIALS!
Renee has Brody King and Bandido in the back. She wants to know if this win gives Bandido the momentum he needs heading into a match with MJF in two weeks. Bandido speaks in Spanish, so King translates. He says everyone is gunning for him, and in two weeks, he will have an even bigger target on his head, because he will be walking out Two-belts Bandido again. And King will be first in line for a title shot.
Well, so much for Moxley and Alexander being next lol.
Brody King vs. Lee Johnson
Johnson attacks King as he makes his entrance. He mocks the barking, so King kills him for a little bit before throwing him into the ring where the bell rings proper. Johnson avoids King with some back elbows, and he kicks King in the face. But King fires back with a lariat and does Barking the RIGHT way. CANNONABLL in the corner, King picks Johnson, hits the Gonzo Bomb, and that is all she wrote!
WINNER: Brody King
TIME: 52 seconds
THOUGHTS: SQUASH CITY!
RATING: N/R
Darby Allin speaks to us by a fire. He went to war with Gabe Kidd. He is numb to the pain, but he is aware of it. He’s aware of how people feel about the way he lives. He wishes it could give him peace. He stood on top of the world in 2025, and in 2026, he will stand on top of AEW. He will finish this with the Death Riders, because the only man he hasn’t beaten is PAC. He doesn’t know where, he doesn’t how, but he will defeat him, so he can set himself free.
Oh, hey, that match that we were promised lol.
Continental Title Eliminator: Jon Moxley vs. Josh Alexander
So, Eliminators conform to the rules of the Continental Classic. However, if the challenger survives for the 20-minutes, they will earn a future title shot, so it’s just as good as actually pinning or submitting the champion, or hoping the champion gets counted out.
Alexander blindsides Moxley before the bell. The bell rings officially as Alexander lands some body blows to Moxley and helps him take his vest off. Aw, what a nice guy! Josh then counters that effort by trying to rip off Moxley’s nose. Alexander with forearm shots to the back, Moxley shoves him away, and a forearm battle ensues. We change levels to a chop fest next. Moxley wins out and lands some punches to the body of Alexander. Moxley flips off Josh, so Alexander picks the ankle and works it over.
Alexander turns his attention to the leg of Moxley as he kicks and stomps on it. Josh takes Moxley to the corner and stretches out Moxley’s leg in the ropes. Jon makes his way out of the corner and batters Alexander with shots in the corner. Irish Whip by Moxley, he follows in and mounts Josh with punches. Big forearm from Moxley puts Alexander on the mat.
Josh back to his feet, more chops from Moxley, and he rubs Josh’s face across the top rope. Alexander is able to turn the tables, and he sends Jon to the floor, as he favors his leg. Josh to the floor, and he hits a front face suplex on Moxley onto the apron. Back in the ring, Alexander with kicks to the weakened leg of Moxley. Josh sets up Jon in the Tree of WOAH! Running crossbody from Alexander, Josh goes to the top and hammers away on the leg of Moxley. Jon finally frees himself as we head out for break.
Alexander continues the abuse of Moxley’s leg as we return. Josh with a knee bar, but Jon slides through his legs and locks on the Choke. Alexander slips free and applies the Ankle Lock proper. Moxley feigns like he will tap out, but he makes a lunge for the bottom rope. Moxley makes it to the apron, so Alexander follows him out. Josh tries a suplex, but Moxley blocks it and tries a piledriver. Alexander blocks that and slaps Moxley in the back. Chops are traded on the apron as Paul Turner tells both men to get back into the ring. Forearm battle now, so Alexander cuts down Jon’s vertical base and hits a version of the World’s Strongest Slam.
Back in the ring, the typical highflyer Alexander misses his moonsault and crashes down to the mat. Moxley’s Paradigm Shift is blocked, as both men trade forearms again. Alexander switches levels and dropkicks the leg of Alexander. Moxley fires back with a CUTTER for a two. Moxley looking Bulldog Choke, but Alexander with the back suplex. He no sells it and hits Alexander with a German. He no sells that, but Moxley counters with a King Kong Lariat.
Both men are down, but Moxley sits right up. Paradigm Shift is countered, Alexander to the floor, but Moxley with an Elbow Suicida that floors Josh. Jon returns him to the ring, tries to get the blood flowing in his leg again, and re-enters the ring only for Alexander to roll out the other side. Moxley approaches him, but Alexander pulls him out of the ring and wraps his bad leg around the ring post. He cranks on the leg and let’s go at the count of four.
Moxley rolls back into the ring, as Alexander goes to the top again. This time, he goes for the more conventional knee drop from the top to the bad leg of Moxley. Alexander works over the leg of Moxley, but Jon catches him with the Choke! Alexxander fights out, Moxley into the Hammering Elbows! The Choke is applied, and Alexander passes out!
WINNER: Jon Moxley
TIME: 15:35
THOUGHTS: Kind of formulaic and it relied way too much on strikes and went on too long with the leg abuse by Alexander. But it was just two guys beating the ever-loving shit out of each other, and there is nothing wrong with that.
RATING: ***1/4
Post-match, MVP and Shelton Benjamin arrive and have a stare down with Moxley. Moxley grabs his title and heads through the crowd.
The Triangle of Madness are in the back. Thekla watched the Sisters of Sin win at Worlds End. She also watched Kris Statlander beat up her supposed friend Jamie Hayter. Skye and Julia warn Kris that her road is paved with her supposed friends. Thekla knows that this Cosmic version of Statlander is a facade. She wants Kris to let the Triangle of Madness takeover at the top.
COMMERCIALS!
The first of our title matches is upon us!
AEW National Title Match: Ricochet (C) W/GOA vs. Jungle Jack Perry W/Luchasaurus
The bell rings and the fans chant BALD. Rick Knox feels offended, so Jack Perry tells him that they aren’t chanting it at him LMAO!
Perry with wrist control early on, as Ricky makes it to the ropes for a break. Another lock-up, and Ricky with a side headlock into arm control. Both men trade go-behinds, as Ricky sends Perry out to the floor. Toa Liona approaches Perry, but Luchasaurus with his shoulder taped up stops his advance.
Back in the ring, hip toss and a dropkick from Perry gets him a two. Perry goes to throw Ricky down by his hair but, well, he has no hair lol. So, Perry grabs him by the beard and throws him down and he rolls out to the floor. Perry with a Tope Suicida to Ricky on the floor. Perry returns Ricky to the ring, GOA approach Perry. Luchasaurus grabs Liona by the throat, but Bishop Kuan attacks from behind and they beat him down. That’ll take us to the break.
Perry reveres Ricky’s offense, and he hits a flying clothesline as we return. Ricky runs into an elbow from Perry. He does his corner wall jump over Ricky and hits a German. Perry is feeling it, as he ducks a Ricky clothesline and tries a DDT. Ricky holds on and hits a Northern Lights into a Brainbuster! Running shooting star press from Ricky, but that gets a two. Vertigo is avoided, O’Connor roll from Perry for a two. Ricky sends him off, but Perry with a comebacker lariat for a two.

WINNER: Ricochet
TIME: 110:35

RATING:
Post-match, Liona returns with Luchasaurus over his shoulder. He lays him on the ramp, grabs a piece of barricade, and he slams it repeatedly on the bad arm of the dinosaur. Perry goes to help him, but Ricky strikes Perry from behind with another Spirit Gun. Kuan joins in and uses a chair to smack the barricade into the bad arm of Luchasaurus some more. Security is here, but GOA beat them up. Liona even uses one of the guys to supplex onto the barricade lol.
The Death Riders are in the back. So, Shelton Benjamin and the people who hurt people, ponders Moxley. My guys! You don’t have to come out and look at me a certain kind of way. This year, next year, they will be on top. Wheeler says he heard Darby’s revisionist history earlier. You will have to go through him first before you can get to PAC. Garcia says it doesn’t matter if you are Darby Allin or the Hurt Syndicate, you will be taken out by the Death Riders.
Willow Nightingale is getting ready for her title match up next. Harley Cameron pumps her up, as Willow says it has been 633 days since she lost her TBS Title to Mercedes. But she will end that tonight and win her title back. Cameron hoots and woops as we head out to break.

Brody says that the man you SHOULD be worried about is the man who holds the current Dynamite Diamond Ring and is coming for Bandido’s second title in two weeks. They do double finger guns at MJF, he says big deal, he has six of those rings, and leaves.
