Hello friends and welcome to 411’s LIVE coverage of AEW Revolution 2026! It’s Theo Sambus here tonight, prepping for what looks to be a stellar card which came together tremendously over the past few weeks. We’re in ‘traditional PPV’ territory on a Sunday night, and I think we have a super fun time ahead of us – let us know what you’re stoked for in the comments below, and let’s keep the good vibes going.
On paper, it looks like a really well balanced card; so much so, it’s almost hard to pick the standouts. Bandido vs Andrade could be something very special (especially after Andrade’s awesome match with Mascara Dorada from last night’s Collision), but I could also see Moxley and Takeshita pulling out a classic if their previous encounters are anything to go by. MJF vs Hangman in a Texas Death could get all kinds of crazy, Swerve and Brody King will no doubt be brutal in the best possible way, and I have this feeling that Thekla and Statlander are going to go all out for their 2 out of 3 Falls match for the Women’s championship.
Well I don’t know about you, but I am READY for this. Zero Hour begins…momentarily!
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Venue: Crypto.com Arena
Commentators: Excalibur, Nigel McGuinness & Tony Schiavone
[ZERO HOUR]
*Zero Hour is LIVE as Renee Paquette, Jeff Jarrett and RJ City welcome us to the show. And Shane Taylor Promotions are the first to make their way to the ring for our opening contest.
Boom & Doom (w/ Aaron Solo, Big Justice & The Rizzler) vs The Infantry (w/ Shane Taylor Promotions)
The Infantry take it to Marshall and AJ, and AJ comes back with a lariat to Dean. Marshall in, step up enziguri, AJ with a powerslam to follow. AJ goes for a dive but the ref steps in his way as he’s not legal…so QT dives over the ref. Bravo with a tornado DDT through the buckles (a la El Generico)! Dean has Marshall in the ring, Bravo tags in and hits a rebound splash. Krystian XO takes out Marshall but here comes the Rizzler to show her some rizz. Bronco buster from Dean, and the Infantry hit some double team moves on QT, including a twisting DDT. QT counters a dive, tags to Big Boom AJ. Body slams, full Nelson slam, Sky High! 1, 2, no. Infantry go for a double stomp, completely miss it? QT in, goes to run the ropes, and Shane Taylor low bridges him to the outside. Taylor knocks the hat off Wayne Brady at ringside, and Brady takes his glasses off before bitch slapping Taylor. Taylor pulls him over the barricade! But here’s The Rizzler…and Taylor shoves him to the floor. Big Justice with a spear! AJ to the top rope, crossbody to the floor. He shoves Bravo back in as QT goes up top…Boomsday Device! 1, 2, 3.
Winners: Boom & Doom
Time: 7:41
Rating: **1/2 – As with most of the Boom & Doom matches, it’s inoffensive, even if I always feel there are others who would do better with that spotlight. Still, the crowd were lapping it up.

Winner and STILL AEW TBS Champion: Willow Nightingale
Time: 10:58
Rating: *** – The shoulder work is likely to come into play for the tag team title match later on, so that’s a smart bit of potential foreshadowing. Kross is still the newcomer and she had a good outing here.
*Immediately after the bell, Megan Bayne is there for a two on one assault. So here comes Harley Cameron to run them off, heading out with a pipe! They’ll all meet in tag team action later tonight.

Winner and NEW AEW National Champion: Jack Perry
Time: 22:55
Rating: *** – A lot of strong midcard talent here, with only limited spots to showcase them all. The early goings were quite scrappy with just a few guys in the ring while everyone else sat out on the floor, but it picked up towards the end. No real surprises and I think we all knew Perry HAD to win this after Ricochet had beaten him so many times, but that was a feel-good way to start the show.
[AEW Men’s World Tag Team Championships] FTR © vs The Young Bucks
Family affair for the Young Bucks entrance, with the Bucks’ kids accompanying them to the ring. One of the girls does some crazy good flips; give her the All Elite graphic!! Winners and STILL AEW World Tag Team Champions: FTR
Time: 19:41
Rating: ****1/4 – Yes, we’ve seemingly seen everything these two teams have to offer in matches against each other, but this was great tag team wrestling with the added heat from this leg of the feud, and they did in fact pull out some new stuff, like those nasty suplexes off the apron. The kickouts might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but this sure was thrilling.
*The lights go out post-match…’EVEN’ appears, which turns into EVENGE…[R]EVENGE! ADAM COPELAND IS BACK! And so is Christian Cage! Storm bites the foot now! Shafir goes for another kick, Storm bites it once more. DDT and Shafir goes down.
To their feet, they trade blows, German from Storm! Another! A third! She preps for the hip attack…NAILS IT. Goes for it again! Second hip attack…Shafir wants more! A third connects, followed by Storm Zero, 1, 2, nooo! Shafir kicks out but the crowd don’t seem to buy it. Storm looks for a headbutt but it’s countered right into the Mother’s Milk! Storm works out of it and bites the…uh…breast of Shafir! Small package, 1, 2, 3!
Winner: Timeless Toni Storm
Time: 9:46
Rating: ***1/4 – Good placement, this worked well after the epic tag match, and I enjoyed how much of a beast Marina looked here.
*Post-match, while Storm collapses on the ramp and poses…we see Ronda Rousey step into the ring! She calls for Storm to re-enter the ring, and Storm doesn’t back down. Storm and Rousey go face to face but get pulled apart by an absolute shit ton of security and referees, that’s awesome. Marina Shafir sucker punches Storm with one shot, and now Rousey and Shafir leave together. Mina Shirakawa shows up to check on Storm. You know what, I’m down with it, if Rousey wants a little run in AEW, bring it on.
[AEW Continental Championship – No Time Limit] Jon Moxley © vs Konosuke Takeshita
Continental Rules for this one, so everyone is banned from ringside, but of course there’s no time limit for this one. Lockup, forearm from Moxley, avoids the knee from Takeshita. Test of strength, they work into the corner where Moxley fires off some quickfire strikes. Big boot from Takeshita, flying forearm connects. Strikes exchanged, and now Moxley powders to the floor. Tope suicida from Mox once Takeshita follows! Mox grabs a chair and sits Takeshita on it, coming back with a big boot sending him backwards over the chair. Back in the ring, Mox gouges the eyes and bites the forehead of Takeshita, right around the black eye from last week. Moxley gets to work on the knee now, driving it into the canvas and twisting the ankle to create pressure on the knee. Knee drop connects. He wraps the knee over the middle rope and hits a running dropkick into it, followed by a dragon screw and a single leg crab, then transitioning into a modified Horse Collar. Moxley may be looking for a piledriver now but Takeshita rolls out of it, Powerdrive knee is CAUGHT and Moxley locks in a figure four! Takeshita tries to stagger up, but a swift kick to the back of the leg grounds him once more. Death Rider attempt but Takeshita gets him up…BASTARD DRIVER! Wheelbarrow German connects, Moxley comes back with a dropkick, and Takeshita drops him with a running knee but he’s spent all his energy on that one.

Takeshita is out!!
Winner and STILL AEW Continental Champion: Jon Moxley
Time: 23:32
Rating: ****1/2 – Takeshita survived everything but ultimately Moxley was just too voracious. Absolutely fantastic work from both guys, but Takeshita in particular looked phenomenal.
*The Death Riders make their way out, and Pac is leading the horde, clapping for Moxley. Mox and Takeshita get to their feet but Takeshita won’t shake his hand and goes to leave the ring…but then thinks twice and comes back to shake! Takeshita bows to Moxley before exiting the ring.
The lights go out once more…we see a video package of a doctor turning some switches. A heartbeat… it’s Will Ospreay. Loading…100%! Ospreay rips off an oxygen mask in the video and roars.
ELEVATED! WILL OSPREAY IS HERE! WHAAAT!? He rips his shirt off and charges the ring! HIDDEN BLADE TO MOXLEY! The Death Riders swarm and attack him but he breaks free. HANDSPRING KICKS! He goes up top…TWISTING MOONSAULT TO THE OUTSIDE. HOW THE HELL IS THIS EVEN HAPPENING? Moxley bails as Ospreay poses on the buckles.
*Renee Paquette is in the medical room with the Babes of Wrath, checking if Willow is cleared. Willow confirms that she’s cleared, and she’ll be out there, she can’t let Harley down. Megan, Lena…Harley says they’re sick of their shit. They got this!
[AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championships] The Babes of Wrath © vs Megan Bayne and Lena Kross
MegaKross attack the Babes from behind before the bell. Bayne with a belly to belly suplex on Cameron, followed by a splash in the corner and a butterfly suplex. Kross sends Cameron into the bottom rope, where Bayne delivers a drive by. Cameron dodges in the corner, kicks Kross away and climbs the buckles, knocking Bayne back and delivering a diving crossbody…and the feed dies! Ooof, OK we’re back and Kross tags in, as does Willow, fighting back with one arm. POUNCE to the Megasus! Kross misses a pump kick, DVD connects for Nightingale! Stereo enziguris, they dive at Bayne and Kross, who catch them and deliver stereo fallaway slams. Splashes in the corner from the challengers, and now a running kick into a German. Pump kick sends Willow to the mat. Kross looks for the jackhammer, but Willow with a backslide like earlier, only gets 2 this time. Kross and Bayne hit a double chokeslam! And that’s it, 1, 2, 3.
Winners and NEW AEW Women’s World Tag Team Champions: Divine Dominion (Megan Bayne & Lena Kross)
Time: 5:00
Rating: *** – Literally just breaking the five minute mark, this was a dominant showing for our new tag team champions. Bayne has needed gold for a while, and if they’re going to continue spotlighting Kross, this is a decent bit of booking to shake up the tag division.
Swerve Strickland vs Brody King
Bryan Danielson has swapped over with Nigel McGuinness on commentary, presumably for the rest of the show. Swerve charges as the bell rings and basically bounces off the shoulder of King. Backdrop suplex from King! Swerve is down in the corner, King prepares for a canonball but Strickland comes out of nowhere with a HOUSE CALL! Damn. Slingshot double stomp on the apron, and now Strickland pulls off the protective padding on one of the turnbuckles. King elbows him away, Saito suplex onto the edge of the barricade! King gets Swerve back in the ring and covers for 2. Swerve sits Strickland on the top turnbuckle and climbs up with him, only for Swerve to knock him to the apron. King pulls Swerve back around the ringpost, and delivers a backbreaker on the CORNER of the steel steps!
Swerve recovers and hits a running knee, but Brody delivers a Black Hole Slam right on the exposed concrete floor! They head back to the apron, duking it out, where Swerve tries to hit a destroyer, can’t quite get it but then he chops the knee of King. Powerbomb onto the apron by Strickland! Swerve presses King’s face right into the exposed bottom turnbuckle…and looks for a curb stomp! Can’t get it though, and King flips Strickland into the buckles. They go back up the turnbuckles…Swerve gains control, nope Brody knocks him back and hits a twisting body press! CANONBALL against that exposed steel! Modified Made in Japan connects, 1, 2, NO. King picks him up, maybe thinking Ganzo Bomb, but no, Strickland reverses….VERTEBREAKER ON THE FRICKIN’ CONCRETE! Swerve slides back in the ring and demands the referee count. King stirs! He makes it back in the ring but its met with a SWERVE STOMP. 1 COUNT KICKOUT! Alright guys, enough of those tonight haha. House Call staggers King but he won’t go down. Again! King is still on his feet. A third House Call connects. 1, 2, 3!
Winner: Swerve Strickland
Time: 14:19
Rating: ****1/4 – Incredibly brutal from the get-go without being bloody (very smart considering we have Texas Death later) and that was refreshing. Ref was perhaps overly lenient but it was a great watch packed full of sheer brutality and some sick spots. King has certainly earned his place at the top of the card, he was a made man here. Now about all these 1 count kickouts…are the agents actually talking to each other backstage?!
*Post-match, Prince Nana brings in the cinder block and chases the referee away. Nana places King headfirst over the cinder block…BUT KENNY OMEGA IS BACK! Omega runs both Nana and Swerve off.

Roundhouse kicks connects, 1, 2, Kris kicks out. Thekla takes her belt off but the ref grabs it from her and tosses it away. Thekla with a Chaos Theory into a bridging pin, 1, 2, 3!
Winner of the first fall: Thekla
Thekla climbs back to the apron but Statlander boots her away with a dropkick. Short-arm clothesline on the outside now, Statlander charges but Thekla sidesteps and Kris goes right into the steel steps. Double stomp off the apton to the back of Statlander. Thekla tosses Statlander into the barricade, brings her back into the ring and this time locks in the Tarantula as intended. Drive-by kick to the side of the head, Thekla covers for another 2 count. Spear attempt is cut off with a knee and a roundhouse from Statlander, followed by a lariat. Back suplex, 1, 2, no. She gets Thekla on her shoulders, ascends the ropes, but Thekla frees herself. Thekla thinks about the spider suplex, but Kris headbutts her away. Spider superplex connects anyway, and Thekla sits up. Kris spills to the floor, Thekla dives with a crossbody to the outside but Statlander catches her! Thekla slips out of her grasp again, but Statlander again grounds her and starts ricocheting her between two barricades, Catapult into the steel steps! Back in the ring, running knee connects and the Fisherman’s Driver gets a 2 count.
Both women to their feet now, Statlander slaps Thekla, tilt-a-whirl and Thekla locks in an octopus stretch. She pulls back on the fingers too, but Statlander gets to her feet, frees her arm and hits a Sunday Night Fever! 1, 2, 3!
Winner of the second fall: Kris Statlander
Statlander immediately looks for another Fever, but Thekla slips behind and shoves Statlander into the ref, and they crack heads! Thekla goes out to check on the ref…NOPE, she grabs his belt!! Thekla tries to whip Statlander, but Kris blocks it and whips her herself! A measure of revenge for last night’s Collision! Sunday Night Fever again! She covers but there’s no ref to count the fall. The Sisters of Sin run down to interfere but Statlander takes them both on, taking them down with a double clothesline. Referee Paul Turner is back up and he grabs his belt back. That momentary distraction allows for the SPEAR! And a stomp from Thekla, a second stomp! 1, 2, 3!
Winner of the third fall and STILL AEW Women’s World Champion: Thekla
Time: 17:09
Rating: ***1/2 – They brought the pace down in the early stages and this was some good work throughout, bringing the crowd back into it at a measured rate. With all the belt shenanigans and a somewhat dirty finish, this feud can definitely be stretched out for a Strap match in the coming weeks. Thekla’s reign has a lot more legs so I’m glad to see that continuing.
[AEW World Trios Championships] The Don Callis Family (Kazuchika Okada, Kyle Fletcher, & Mark Davis) © vs JetSpeed & Mistico
Ha amazing, JetSpeeed are wearing Mistico-inspired masks and gear to give them some synergy. Okada and Mistico begin this one, that’s cool. Quick feeling out process, headscissors from Mistico, and he tags out to Knight. Knight already holds a victory over Okada so Okada quickly tags out to Davis. Fletcher gets decked after grabbing Knight, before Knight muscles up Davis for a biiig body slam. Crossbody to the outside! Bailey in, tijeras to Fletcher and a dropkick sends him to the floor. Plancha from Bailey, Mistico hits a tijeras on Okada and then runs up the ropes for an armdrag. Tope suicida from Mistico! All three challengers go for stereo dives but the Don Calis Family put a stop to that, and Davis throws Knight out of the ring, knocking him right into his partners.
Davis unmasks Knight, and then rips the mask off Bailey too. THE DISRESPECT. Body slam to Knight. Fletcher gets taken down with a leaping lariat from Knight, but Okada takes Bailey and Mistico off the apron to prevent a tag. Fletcher tosses Bailey onto Davi’s shoulders and we get some Aussie Open double teaming. Okada nails Knight with a dropkick and covers for 2, broken up by Mistico. Mistico reverses a double arm drag, nails Okada with a tijeras and hits Fletcher with a gamengiri. Mistico with a 2 for 1, arm drag to Mistico and tijeras to Fletcher off the top rope! Now JetSpeed and Mistico get to hit their triple tope suicidas.
Okada calls out Mistico, wanting a showdown. Boot to the midsection by Okada, arm drag from Mistico, Okada is all tied up as Mistico gets a 2 count. Okada with a dropkick, Bailey tags in as does Fletcher. JetSpeed and ProtOkada come face to face now and volley back and forth with strikes. Okada and Knight stand eye to eye, and Okada just flips him off…so Knight bites the finger. Dropkick from Okada connects. Mistico with a double crossbody. Moonsault kneedrop by Bailey, Okada with the flapjack. Leaping Hurracanrana by Knight! And Mistico delivers a satellite DDT on Fletcher. All six men on the apron now….Knight with a DDT to Okada, Bailey with the moonsault knee drop, Mistico with a destroyer, kind of loses the grip though, yikes. Speedball is legal….SHOOTING STAR! 1, 2, no, Fletcher kicks out. Speedball thinks about the Flamingo Driver but Davis is there with a chair. The ref sees, doesn’t see Fletcher with the belt! But no, Knight hits a leaping DDT, Bailey is up top…ULTIMA WEAPON! 1, 2, Davis breaks it up! Double enziguris from JetSpeed, Davis cartwheels away and hits an enziguri of his own. Rating: ***1/2 – Heck of a lot of fun with those closing minutes going pretty insane. Davis has some great offense for these kinds of matches, perfectly complementing the high flying stuff of his opponents. Really didn’t think the DCF would be losing so this was a nice surprise.
*We get the graphic…MISTICO IS ALL ELITE!
Bandido vs Andrade El Idolo
Ohhh Bandido is rocking the Super Dragon gear, that’s awesome! Don Callis joins the commentary desk and we are all set for this one. Both men look for side headlocks but can’t get them as both are simply too fast and agile. Both guys attempt a tijeras but the other flips to their feet, beautifully done. They run the ropes and do the Ricochet/Ospreay duelling backflips spot. Andrade is tranquilo in the ropes as Bandido loads the finger guns and takes aim. A-E-DUB chants.
Bandido rips off his pants a la Andrade, but his pants kinda get caught so Andrade capitalizes and launches at him. Pop-up hurracanrana counter by Bandido, big boot takes Andrade to the floor. Diving hurracanrana off the apron by the ROH World champion! He brings Andrade back into the ring, springboards in and Andrade catches him, planting him like a sack of spuds with a powerbomb! Andrade heads out with Bandido and drops him throat first across the barricade. And now Andrade starts to strip his pants off. Haha he is in the smallest trunks ever. Andrade has a little flirt at ringside and poses for a selfie, then rolls Bandido in for a quick two count. Andrade looks for a suplex but as he lifts Bandido, Bandido counters with a cutter to create an opening.
Bandido tries a kick on the apron, Andrade captures the leg and drapes it over the top rope. Andrade up top, double stomp MISSES, Bandido with a German, tossing Andrade into the bottom buckle! Both men to their feet, duking it out. Big boot from Andrade. Springboard tornillo out of the corner goes Bandido, and now he picks Andrade up, countered. Strait jacket German! Andrade outside, Bandido takes a run up and hits a Fosbury Flop! Bandido goes back up top, gives a little shimmy and delivers a frog splash, but Andrade gets the knees up. THREE AMIGOS from Andrade, noooo Bandido counters the last into a German suplex series. Andrade back to the Three Amigos now! No, more Germans from Bandido! Bandido with a SHOOTING STAR PRESS, 1, 2, NO. 21-Plex is countered, Bandido lands on the apron, maybe looking for a German from there? He climbs to the second rope…Andrade sweeps the legs and Bandido plummets to the floor. Andrade to the top rope, blind diving moonsault press to take out Bandido. And now he finds another girl and gives her his digits,
Back in the ring, Andrade hits the Ibushi fake-out moonsault, gets a 2 count from it. Bandido is down in the corner, allowing Andrade to deliver the running knees. 1, 2, NO. Hammerlock attempt, Bandido cradles, 1, 2, no. Enziguri connects, both men on the top rope…FALLAWAY MOONSAULT SLAM! 1, 2, NOOO. Stretch Muffler attempt but Andrade reaches the ropes. Gutwrench, X-KNEE CONNECTS! Bandido is feeling it, 21-Plex is countered with the back elbow!! 1, 2, NO. DM countered, holy shit a rolling heel kick X-Knee??!! 21-PLEX FROM THE GROUND, Bandido DEADLIFTED him up! X-Knee connects! 21-Plex, Andrade lands on his feet! BACK ELBOW! Andrade lifts him in the corner, AVALANCHE DM! 1, 2, 3!!
Winner: Andrade El Idolo
Time: 20:55
Rating: ****1/2 – This show is off the charts! That ruled, and Bandido stepping up his game even further than usual shows just how creative and talented he is. 21-Plex from a deadlift position, insane! Andrade is probably the best he’s ever been too. This more than lived up to expectations.
[Tornado Trios Match] Roderick Strong, Orange Cassidy, and Darby Allin vs The Dogs (Clark Connors, Gabe Kidd, and David Finlay)
The ‘Conglomeration Adjacent’ gang go back to back in the middle of the ring but then all dive to the outside to get the hot start on the Dogs. OC and Connors in the ring, cradle by OC for 2, pounce by Connors. Strong in, running leg lariat connects. Kidd bites the hand of Strong, flapjack and a right hand. Darby and Kidd go at it now, Code Red from Darby, Finlay breaks up the pin though. Backbreaker on Darby, Finlay catches Cassidy and tosses him with a release suplex. Backbreaker to Roderick Strong, that shouldn’t be legal!! Darby with a back splash to Connors and Kidd. Dropkick sends Finlay to the corner. CONNORS with a spear through the ropes to knock Darby from the apron to the floor, damn that bump had to suck for both of them.
Kidd has Darby hanging like a guillotine, now Finlay has him on his shoulders. Doomsday Device, cover, Roddy breaks it up. We hear that Storm vs Marina Shafir is made for Dynamite this week, No Holds Barred this time. The Dogs tie Darby’s neck chain to the tag rope, holding him there and choking him. The Dogs turn their attention to OC, who gives them some sloth style chops. Finlay brutally uppercuts him as a receipt. Kidd with a forearm for good measure. OC is back to his feet and gets his hands in his pockets, and Strong is back in, backbreaker to Finlay. Dropkcik to Connors. Olympic Slam to Kidd. Strong hoists up OC and uses him as a battering ram. Dropkick from Cassidy and a kip up. Assisted DDT to Kidd. Darby is still hung up in the corner. Strong delivers a backbreaker into OC’s knees but damn Connors landed on his face there. OC grabs scissors and frees Darby, so Darby immediately climbs the ropes and hits a Coffin Drop to the outside. End of Heartache to Connors, 1, 2, NO. Stronghold applied! Sleeper by OC. Darby locks in the Scorpion Death Lock on Kidd! Finlay with OC on his back breaks up the submissions though. Darby gets shoved to the outside, and OC hits a stundog millionaire but walks right into a spear from Connors. Kidd smacks Darby’s skateboard into the ramp and it bounces back into his head, goof! Darby dives off the ramp and stomps the skateboard into the back of Kidd’s head. Powerslam by Connors in the ring on Strong. Spear/chopblock, cover, 1, 2, OC breaks it up. Connors with the cut-throat brainbuster, and Finlay hits the knee to the face. Darby has zip tied Kidd to the staging area. Rising knee from Strong, Orange Punch, and End of Heartache connects on Connors, 1, 2, 3!
Winners: Darby Allin
Time: 12:23
Rating: *** – This really didn’t need to be on this card, the purpose being to give The Dogs a big win on PPV…except they lost. So uh…OK? Action was good but there’s some questionable booking here.
[AEW Men’s World Heavyweight Championship – Texas Death Match] Maxwell Jacob Friedman © vs Hangman Adam Page
Page walks out with barbed wire wrapped around his wrist. For MJF’s entrance, he has a cowboy-esque video package, where he pisses on the ‘grave’ of Hangman Adam Page. Oh, MJF has Terry Funk tights on, that’s neat.
Both men charge as the bell rings and lay into each other with right hands. MJF pulls referee Bryce Remsburg in front of him and that escapes into the crowd. They battle out into the stands for a brief moment before Page brings him back into the ring and pulls out a trash can lid. MJF blocks it and hits a body slam before rubbing his crotch in Hangman’s face. But Page is back up, goes to hit MJF with the trash can lid again, so MJF hightails it round the ring…not looking where he’s going and running right into Page, who smacks him and calls him a dumbass. HA. Page pulls out a staple gun and I don’t like MJF’s chances here. Page has a birthday card and he staples it to the hand of the World champion! Then staples it to his chest before ripping it off!
Page slides out to ringside and unveils a plate glass window, propping it up in the corner. MJF rakes the eyes and picks up the window himself, smashing it on the mat and flipping the crowd off. “No one’s gonna catch me doing that indy bullshit!” And of course Page grabs him and body slams him right into the broken glass. Tremendous. Page grabs him by the legs and drags him chest-first through all the broken glass. Cry me a river!?
Hangman wraps the barbed wire back around his fist and smacks MJF in the face. We see that MJF is busted wide open as Hangman digs the barbs into the flesh. Barbed wire in the mouth now!! Roaring elbow sends Friedman to the floor, and Hangman follows, pulling out a table. He sets it up on the outside next to the apron, but that’s given MJF time to recuperate and he drop toe holds Page into a chair. Back in the ring, MJF has grabbed a shard of glass and rakes it across the forehead of his challenger. Repeated shots with the glass shard! And now he body slams Page into the remaining glass on the mat. MJF takes his turn dragging Page through the glass now. He pulls out a broom and sweeps away all the glass now, amazing! He tries to crack Page with the broom, but Page catches it and snaps it over his knee. Jagged broom handle to the face of Hangman though! MJF has a chair and smacks him with it across the back.
MJF pulls out a bag from under the ring…with a syringe in it! HE STICKS THE SYRINGE THROUGH THE CHEEK OF PAGE AND SQUEEZES! The liquid comes out the other side! Danielson does not sound happy. Page gets to his feet and battles with the syringe still sticking out of his mouth. He pulls it out and then cracks MJF with a steel chair. Hangman grabs another chair, this one wrapped in barbed wire. He looks for something but MJF counters and hits a waterwheel drop into the barbed wire chair! The ref begins the count and gets to 7 before Page gets to his feet. MJF grabs another table and sets it up on the opposite side to the other one. He has Page in tombstone position on the apron, Page evades though. He shoves him back to the apron, thinking Heatseeker but Page holds on…DEADEYE ON THE BARBED WIRE CHAIR! That came with a cost though as Page jars the knee into the barbed wire too.
Page swings the barbed wire chair into the back of the World champ. He sets it up in the corner…Fallaway Slam into the barbed wire chair! Page ascends the buckles with the barbed wire chair in hand…ORIHARA MOONSAULT but no one home, and MJF launches the chair in his face. MJF is thinking Heatseeker again but Page guillotines him…DEADEYE OFF THE APRON THROUGH THE TABLE. They make their way to the opposite side of the ring where Page attempts to recreate it. But MJF counters and gets him in tombstone position…JUMPING TOMBSTONE OFF THE APRON THROUGH THE TABLE! Page gets up at 9, briefly, to break the count. Both men on their feet in the ring now, trading right hands. Pop-up powerbomb! Buckshot lariat is ducked. They both hit roaring elbows and both go down. They roll to the floor on opposite sides of the ring to break the count. MJF pulls out a light tube, as does Hangman! MJF starts to head up the ramp so Page follows him up there. They swing at each other and miss. Page breaks the light tube over Maxwell’s back, and then grabs MJF’s light tube too, smashing it over his head. MJF is a bloody mess once more, and now they teeter precariously on the edge of the stage. MJF ducks to avoid a fall, and now they head back towards the ring.
Hangman brings out some skewers now as we’re going FULL GCW! He tries to shove them in MJF’s forehead but MJF struggles and they battle back and forth. Page finally gets them and smacks them into the head of MJF! He looks like a porcupine with those skewers sticking out in every direction. Buckshot lariat connects. But MJF is up at 9! Hangman pulls out a chain, with a dog collar attached. He wraps it around the neck of MJF and attaches a collar around his own neck. IS THAT SMART MR HANGMAN?! MJF realizes what’s happened and tries to leave but Page pulls him back in and wraps the chain around his fist, clocking him with it. Another table is pulled out and set up at ringside as the fans chant for fire. He asks the crowd for a lighter but no one seems to have one. Still, there’s a barbed wire board under the ring, and he places that on top of the table. On the apron, Page looks for Deadeye but MJF tries to counter with a piledriver, that’s reversed too. Big boot to MJF, and Page climbs to the second rope….and MJF grabs the chain linking them and tugs it, sending Page flying into the barbed wire board. At 9, Hangman still somehow makes it to his feet. Sheesh we’re up to 40 minutes now.
Page and MJF head back up the ramp and make their way to the edge of the stage. They teeter, and Page pulls MJF in for a belly to back suplex off the stage, falling through a table with electrical equipment, and we get the explosions. And they’re both up at 9! Damn guys, it’s bedtime. Hangman walks MJF back to the ring like a dog. Buckshot lariat attempt but MJF delivers a low blow. Friedman takes the World title and clocks Hangman in the skull with it. Bryce makes the count…but noooo, Page is up at 9. Page smacks MJF with the belt this time, and then delivers one more buckshot lariat, but no MJF holds the chain and hangs him over the ropes! He’s choking the life out of it. Page collapses…and that’s it, we hit 10. MJF has retained…finally!
Winner and STILL AEW Men’s World Heavyweight Champion: Maxwell Jacob Friedman
Time: 46:18
Rating: ***1/4 – I was really enjoying this for the first 20 minutes but my God this did not need to be over 45 minutes!! Whose idea was that?! There’s overcoming the odds, and suspending disbelief, but this went into silly territory, especially after they got their feet after being EXPLODED. It’s kinda crazy that we’re desensitized to the syringe spots after the Swerve feud; that was almost an after-thought with everything else we saw. This was a case of the law of diminishing returns, and while i like the mirroring of when Page won the title from Moxley, they could have got there with 20 minutes shaved off.
*MJF celebrates with his title belt and we watch through a bloody camera lens as he stands over Page’s limp body on a stretcher. And with that, Revolution goes off the air. Good night everybody, thanks for joining us!
