TNA Universe! Tonight is a night of Rebellion for the company, so let’s dig into the show and cue up “Rebellion” by Linkin Park (even if it isn’t officially the show’s theme song).
Emanating from the Wolstein Center in Cleveland, Ohio, Rebellion will feature ten matches, with half of them having a title up for grabs. Whether ironic or otherwise, every member of the System will be involved in a title match, starting with the World Tag Team Title match, as Matt and Jeff Hardy will look to retain the belts against Bear Bronson and Brian Myers. Leon Slater will look to keep his long and glorious run as X-Division Champion alive, as he faces Cedric Alexander. Finally, and most importantly when it comes to System business, Eddie Edwards will look to become TNA World Heavyweight Champion once again when he goes up the reigning and defending Champion Mike Santana.
The International Title will be on the line, as Trey Miguel will defend the belt against Mustafa Ali, the leader of the Order-4 with a brand-new haircut that makes him look more like a group/cult leader. Finally, when it comes to titles on the line, the Knockouts belt will be defended when Ariana Grace looks to keep Lei Ying Lee from become a two-time Champion.
The non-title matches also offer a lot of variety, starting with the Hardcore Country Match between The Elegance Brand and TNA legends Mickie James, Taryn Terrell, and ODB. Frankie Kazarian will face Elijah, and fresh off of his mission to defeat every member of the System, Moose will pivot to facing Special Agent Zero of Order-4.
Both Nemeth Brothers will be in action tonight as well, as Ryan will go up against Brandon Does Everything (BDE for short, of course), while Nic will face A.J. Francis. Also, Cleveland’s own EC3 will make his return to TNA for the first time since Bound for Glory in 2020. What is on the mind of the former World Heavyweight Champion and Impact Grand Champion, and is he here for the long run? All of this and, of course, so much more in store for us tonight!
SO, how is everyone doing on this Saturday Night, and is it Alright for Fighting? I get the feeling that it will be, as the Flyers, while still holding the most razor thin of margins for third place in the Metropolitan Division, need to make their own way and help themselves, even if the other teams around them lose. The Phillies are .500 again, and the Pacers remembered the Tank needs to keep rolling. And with the Eagles trading draft picks for Dontayvion Wicks from Green Bay, the AJ Brown trade rumors will only keep getting louder.
But enough about me and enough about you, let’s get ready to be Rebellious!

Before the Bell opens with announcers Matt Rehwoldt, Tom Hannifan, and Authority Figure Daria Rae. Daria complains about the fans who support Santino Marella, who was suspended by the board, and not her. Tom questions whether she had the power to suspend Santino and accuses her of suspending Indi Hartwell. Matt jumps to her defense, and they continue running down the card for tonight.
The System are here. They call Cleveland the Mistake by the Lake (Heh), and Brian Myers and Bear Bronson run down the Hardys. Cedric Alexander says that Leon Slater’s X-Division Title reign ends tonight, and Eddie Edwards says he will become World Champion again. NGL, kind of hard-to-understand Eddie sometimes when he talks, and it’s not the accent.
After this interruption, the panel continues to run down the rest of the show. This leads to a video package for the International Title match between Trey Miguel and Mustafa Ali.
They run through more matches before kicking it to Gia Miller, who is in the crowd asking the kids who they are most excited to see tonight. One kid says the Hardys, another says Leon Slater.
And we have a match! But first, Ryan Nemeth is going to cut a promo. Cleveland! Ryan went grew up here, went to school here, and his parents are here in the front row. He knows that his dad loved Nic more, but his mom loved him more lol. You could say Ryan was a Mama’s boy. And they raised them to be Cleveland Browns fan. I am so sorry. He took the advice of his hero Art Modell when he was older, and he got out of this disgusting dump of a town! Ryan has a sweet mustache, and secondly, he a Pittsburgh Steelers fan. I am still so sorry. He says McKenzie is as dumb as everyone else here because she married someone from Cleveland. He introduces BDE as “being somewhere from Ohio”.
BDE makes his entrance, and that is great, but he still has so much more to get off his chest. But no, because BDE hits a dropkick!
Ryan Nemeth vs. BDE
The bell rings officially, as BDE follows Nemeth to the floor. He kicks Ryan and returns him to the ring, where he corners him and lands some shots. Scoop slam from BDE, and Ryan rolls to the floor. That allows BDE to fire up the jet, and he hits a Tope Suicida to Nemeth!
BDE returns Nemeth to the ring and hits another dropkick and scores a two. Ryan says enough and he throws BDE out of the ring and to the floor. Nemeth with a back suplex to BDE onto the apron followed by an elbow drop. The pin in the ring gets him a two. Nemeth with the stalling neckbreaker for another two.
Ryan grounds BDE with a chin lock, and he drives him back to the mat when he tries to escape. BDE back to his feet and he hits flying forearms and a corner clothesline. The Clip Cutter from BDE, but Ryan kicks out at two. Nemeth stops his momentum with a DDT for a two.
Nemeth leaves himself open and BDE hits an enziguri. To the top, and BDE hits a Frog Splash! Ryan wisely rolls out of the ring, though, so BDE gives chase. Ryan snaps the neck of BDE over the top rope and then hits the Hollywood Ending for the win!
WINNER: Ryan Nemeth
TIME: 4:55
THOUGHTS: Not bad, not great. but not bad. Nemeth getting the win in his hometown, even though he forsakes them, was the right call.
RATING: **1/2
We get an ad for IHeartRadio before we go back to the three-headed panel. Apparently, Nic Nemeth is going to have Cleveland Browns quarterback Bernie Kosar in his corner for his match. Ace Steel is also going to help breakdown the main event.
But never mind that shit, here comes MONGO The Hometown Man! He’s wearing a Cleveland jersey from Major League the film. Very cool. He shakes hands with Tom and Matt wants to know what happened to him as a kid lol. HTM has a question, who is having a good time tonight? He has another question, who wants some free merch?
Daria: I did not approve this.
HTM has a live event shirt that he throws into the crowd. He has a One Night Only shirt that he throws into the crowd. Daria wants him to wrap it up, but he has one last shirt, an Elijah shirt! Into the crowd it goes! It’s time to get wild in Cleveland for Rebellion, he loves his hometown!
TNA Merch ad incoming!
Carlos Silva is here to join the panel. He doesn’t get a rousing response lol. He says that they have their event calendar in line and full for 2026. Matt mentions EC3 is returning tonight, and Silva says he was close with Dixie, and it will be interesting to see what happens. Daria says with her by himself, this company has never been better.
Eric Young is here to interrupt the panel at the sound of Ricky Sosa’s name. He says Sosa is a joke and he is laid up in a hospital somewhere in Europe, and if he comes back, he will do it again. He calls EC3 a silver spoon punk, and he will call him out and he wants him to explain why he should stay here. Young calls him a Cleveland puke and tells the fans to shut their mouths while acting like a MADMAN. Gabe Kidd has nothing on EY.
Ad for AMC+ incoming!
The panel has one match left to discuss, and that is the World Title match. Following a video package, Ace Steel is here, and he kisses Daria’s ass and says she is doing a great job. Tom wants to pick his brain over what makes this match so personal. After some discussion, they kick it to Gia again, and she asks a rando who he thinks will win the main event tonight, and he says Mike Santana.
And now, it’s time for REBELLION!!!!
Tonight, Rebellion is LIVE from Cleveland, Ohio! Tom Hannifan and Matt Rehwoldt are on the call tonight!
Mackenzie introduces Charity Evonna, who is here to sing the National Anthem!
Opening video package airs to set the mood for Rebellion!
Looks like we are going to start off hot tonight! MOTN incoming!

But a veteran never waivers, as Cedric scores a two off another release German. Alexander with a chin lock and some shots to the side of Leon’s neck before locking in the chin lock fully. Leon to his feet with some strikes, but Cedric grabs him by the eyes and rips Leon to the mat. Slater keeps striking air and Alexander plays with his food for a while. But Slater crushes Alexander with a SUPERKICK!

Big boot in the corner, and Slater is back in control. Leon heads to the top, he rolls through as Alexander escapes out of the ring, but he isn’t safe, as Leon clears the corner with east and swipes out Cedric!
Back in the ring, and Slater hits Utopia, but Alexander kicks out at two. Alexander back to the top, but Alexander again rolls away. Kick to the gut, but Slater off the ropes and he hits a kick to the back of the head! Alexander fires back with the Michinoku Driver for a two. Alexander sits Slater on the rope, and he hits a Brainbuster on the top rope! Slater rolls out to the floor, and Alexander quickly returns him to the ring. Lumbar Check, but Slater gets his free foot on the rope. THIS IS AWESOME chants, as Alexander stomps on Slater and losses his mind. Alexander heads out of the ring and he eyes the X-Division title. He grabs it, kisses it, and brings it into the ring. But he took too long and Slater scores the Styles Clash onto the title! Swanton 450 from Slater, and he retains!
WINNER: Leon Slater (Still Champion)
TIME: 14:15
THOUGHTS: Never let it be said that TNA doesn’t know how to pick their lead off matches for a PLE. Slater continues to dominate as X-Division, and this match did not disappoint.
RATING: ****
Tom and Matt run down the rest of the matches on the card tonight. By the way, did you know that Nic Nemeth will have legendary Browns QB Bernie Kosar in his corner tonight? I didn’t know, I must have missed them the first 99 times they mentioned it.
Gia Miller is in the back with Mike Santana. Gia wants to know how Mike is approaching this match after Eddie has pinned him twice in the last 30 days. Santana wants to know what’s good in the 305. For 86 days, he has fought, he has put his heart and soul into this title reign, and he is set and ready to go!
Alisha Edwards is here. She says she has information about Eddie that he should know, so she wants to talk.

Elijah to the top rope, and its literally time to walk with Elijah!

Elijah is on the apron, and he trades hands with Frankie. Kazarian tries a leg drop, but he comes up empty. Elijah springboards into the ring, but Frankie hits him with the strap from Elijah’s guitar! Kazarian continues smacking him with his own strap. Elijah finally catches the strap, but Frankie fires back with kicks and a clothesline, flooring Elijah.

Frankie grabs the guitar itself, but Elijah rolls Frankie into the ring. Frankie hits a slingshot cutter right onto the guitar! The cover, but that’s a two. Frankie rolls him up for the win!
WINNER: Frankie Kazarian
TIME: 12:25
THOUGHTS: A fun brawl, and I’m glad that the ref didn’t disqualify either man for using the various parts of the guitar in the match. When the King of TNA wins, we all win!
RATING: ***1/4
The TNA Rebellion Injury report is brought to you by Bio Flex!
In the back, Stacks and Ariana are walking. Stacks says Rebellion will be a big night for Ariana, but she is freaking out because she doesn’t have the cobra. Stacks says she doesn’t need her father’s stinky hand-me-downs, and he has a plan. She whispers it to her, and she seems thrilled by this plan.
Promo for the next match, which will be the first singles match in TNA for Special Agent Zero.
Moose vs. Special Agent Zero
Zero FLIES over the top rope and wipes out Moose during his entrance! In an act of chivalry, Moose pushes Alisha out of the way first. What a guy! Video package for the Hardcore Country Match!
The Personal Concierge is in the ring with a sign with a pickle on it and says he is not a dick. When he heard, they were coming to Cleveland, he got on his knees and begged them not to because this place sucks. The only good thing to come out of Cleveland is Ash by Elegance, and LeBron knew when to take his talents out of here. These people smell like pigs, so he wants to introduce us to some people who smell like flowers, the Elegance Brand!
Hardcore Country 6-Woman Match: The Elegance Brand vs. ODB, Mickie James, and Taryn Terrell
Mickie comes out with a bucket called the Mark Bucket, because she’s called the Elegance Brand Marks, you, see? Clever, no?
Ash is SCREAMING on the mic like a banshee. She has something to say! SHUT UP! I have something to say! I AM NOT A MARK! I SAID, I AM NOT A MARK! And one more thing, HE is not a pickle!
Finally, my hearing has been saved from the shrill sounds of Ash as the TNA legends attack and the bell rings. They rip up the signs that the Elegance Brand brought into the ring, while the Elegance Brand throw weapons into the ring. Tom tells Pickle Dick to shut up. Is that really an insult, Tom?
Ash, Heather, and M hold the ring as we see everything that has been throw into the ring. Okay finally we have contact. Triple whip by the Elegance Brand, but a triple Thesz Press from ODB, Mickie, and Taryn. James uses a trash can and then a cane, while Terrell chokes out Ash with a doll. She drags something across her leg as well.
Ash and M head out to the floor and start some trouble with some cast members of a show I really don’t care about. Here comes Mickie and ODB to beat them up and then they shove buckets onto their heads and throw them at each other. They throw a bucket at Mr. Elegance.
Terrell unloads a bucket full of lollipops in the middle of the ring and suplexs Heather onto the pile. She gets a cover for a two. The Elegance Brand regroup on the floor while the Legends throw candy to the crowd like it’s Halloween lol. Mickie and the gang on the attack, but it’s a trap, as the Elegance Brand attack. Mickie gets thrown into a wheelbarrow, as does Taryn.
In the ring, ODB decks Heather and M, but Ash attacks her from behind with a cane. The girls tie ODB to the bottom rope with a cowbell and head back out to the floor. They re-establish bales of hay and the wheelbarrow, but Mickie dropkicks Heather into the wheelbarrow. Ash has a stop sign, but Terrell attacks her with a giant lollipop. ODB has a cooler and she opens it up and drops pickle juice in it. They throw Ash into the Personal Concierge and try to dunk his head in the cooler, but Mr. Elegance grabs them from behind. Mickie and Taryn end up shoving his head into the cooler instead.
The PC now begs off and says he always respected Mickie as he tries to escape into the ring. They have a pickle sack costume, and they shove it over the head of the PC. This is happening, in TNA, in 2026, everyone. Terrell heads to the top and hits a crossbody to the floor onto all three Elegance girls. ODB slams Heather and they set up for the WHAT’S UP headbutt, but Mr. Elegance attacks. He poses and gyrates over top of ODB, but he pays for tongs to the dick. Ash with hairspray to the eyes of ODB and she hits a DDT. The entire team covers ODB to win the match.
WINNER: The Elegance Brand
TIME: 10:50
THOUGHTS: This was crazy fun. It may not be for everyone, but it was certainly fun. And the right team, the current team, won, even though it was fun seeing Mickie, ODB, and especially Taryn in the ring again.
RATING:
Post-match, Tommy Dreamer and Carlos Silva are here. Tommy wants to address “Weird Flexing Guy, Marky Mark and the Mark Bunch, and Pickle Dick”. He also tells Mickie to not get crazy. I dunno, you saw what she did back in 2006 when she stalked Trish, Dreamer. They say this business is crazy, but it is through the business that connects us to one another, and for that, we are forever grateful. He likes to do things spontaneously, so ODB. He wants to see you perform in the ring again but need to get a little dressed up.
Silva takes the mic and says that for everything that ODB has done for the company, we want to see you at Bound for Glory in October, because you are going to be in the TNA Hall of Fame! I wonder what ODB’s old husband Eric thinks about this.
YOU DESERVE IT chants, as ODB takes the mic. Her current husband is in the ring now and hugs her. She will keep this short, she didn’t expect this, and without you, there would be no ODB. She has been doing this for 25 years, and she ain’t done yet. Maybe she should bring her food truck to Bound for Glory. It’s been a blast, and see you at Bound for Glory, BOOM!
Elanya Black is in the back and reading off numbers. That is the money that she has made just in the last 15 minutes. Cleveland makes her sick, but she’ll take the flight, she’ll take the free drinks, and she will watch the TNA Knockout’s Title Match. And she will be challenging the winner tonight. And she will reign into 2027, 2028, it doesn’t matter, because is the Era of Elyna.
TNA has teamed up with IHeartRadio to produce the TNA Dream Chairs. Yeah, my dream is to sit on a chair with Santana’s face watching my ass.
It’s time for Nic at Night! But first, A.J. Francis wants to cut a promo. Allow him to re-introduce himself, he is A.J. Francis. And he is out with some new drip, including this LeBron 2’s. He is basically the LeBron James of professional wrestling, and he doesn’t expect you to understand that because you are losers. Speaking of losers, let’s talk about the Cleveland Browns. In a few minutes, Nic is going to come out with Bernie Kosar, but he feels he is Shedeur Sanders, because he will be better the minute he leaves Cleveland.
A.J. Francis vs. Nic Nemeth
Unlike his brother Ryan, Nic comes out in Cleveland Browns colored and styled pants. The bell rings, and Francis hits a SUPERKICK straight away for a two. Francis tunes up the band, but Nemeth ducks that kick and lands some strikes. Francis overpowers Nic, though, and he hits the ropes and hits own splash. Nic tries to pick AJ up, but that doesn’t work. Nemeth with clotheslines and he’s looking for the DDT, but Francis throws him out of the ring and to the floor.
Francis goes to the floor and tries to throw Nemeth into the ring steps, but Nic jumps over them. He also avoids the Down Payment, but Francis hits a right hand to the face of Nemeth. He returns to the ring content to take the count-out, but Nemeth makes the count at seven. Francis stands on Nemeth and kicks him before telling the ref to shut up. He chokes Nemeth and slaps him in the corner. Nemeth with body blows, but Francis shrugs them off and throws Nemeth into the corner. He launches Nemeth into the opposite corner. Francis with the Tennessee Whiskey as he comes face-to-face with Kosar on the floor.
Francis backs off and grabs Nemeth and stretches him out around the ring post. Down Payment attempt, but Nemeth avoids and runs into a big boot instead. That gets AJ a two. Francis picks up Nemeth, but he elbows his way out. Nemeth again tries to pick up Francis, but he crushes Nemeth and he gets another two.
Nemeth with more strikes, and he stomps on the foot of Francis. A headbutt follows, and Nemeth with a DDT. Nemeth lays in ten elbows drops to Francis and he picks Francis up this time! He does the You Can’t See Me and hits the AA! Francis kicks out at two. Nemeth tunes up the band, but Francis with the TFL! The cover, but Nemeth kicks out at two.
Francis again looks for the Down Payment, but Nemeth counters with the Fameasser! The cover, but AJ kicks out at 2.5! Nemeth heads to the top, but Francis shakes the ropes, causing Nemeth to land on his splash zone. Francis does the Eddie shoulder shake, but Nemeth with headbutts. AVALANCHE DANGER ZONE FROM NEMETH! The cover, but Francis kicks out at 2.8!
Francis rolls out of the ring as Nemeth takes his time, so much that Francis catches him out of his Tope attempt. Francis hits a Down Payment on the floor! Francis takes a seat on the ring steps before gathering himself and throwing Nic into the ring. He again stares down Kosar and Nic’s family. Francis has a steel chair, but the ref blocks him from attacking. The ref finally takes the chair as he argues with Francis. AJ clubs the ref from behind!
He’s got the chair again, but Kosar gets into the ring! Bernie puts himself between Francis and Nemeth! He wants to do a three-point stance with Bernie, but KC Navarro is here! Kosar hits Francis with the chair, Nemeth hits the Danger Zone, KC throws the ref into the ring, and Nic wins it!
WINNER: Nic Nemeth
TIME: 14:20
THOUGHTS: This went a little too long and wasn’t as strong as some of the stuff that came before it tonight, but it was a feel-good moment with Nic winning and Kosar getting involved in the match to help him win. Glad to see Navarro is back as well.
RATING: ***
Nemeth and Kosar celebrate with the fans after the match, while Navarro threatens Francis with his knee.
TNA Merch shop shill.
We see Eddie Edwards getting ready for the main event tonight. We see Mike Santana doing push-ups in the back and he takes time to sit down and stare into the camera.
It’s Knockouts Time!
TNA Knockouts Title Match: Ariana Grace vs. Lei Ying Lee
The TNA+ stream choked up shortly after Mackenzie Mitchell did the in-ring intros for the competitors, and after a refresh, Lee is in control and she dropkicks Grace out and to the floor. Grace goes under the ring and Stacks creates a distraction for his fiancée. Grace attacks from behind and throws Lee into the ring post.
Back in the ring, and Grace kicks Lee in the head. The pin gets her a two. Stacks holds on to Ariana while Lee tries to roll her up, but Xia Brookside pulls him off the apron and yells for the ref to throw Stacks out. After insisting three times, Frank finally ejects Stacks. Lee is back in it with kicks, and she mounts Grace in the corner with hammer fists. Lee with an Exploder, but Grace kicks out at two.

Lee picks up Grace for the Warrior’s Way, but Grace goes to the eyes and throws Lee into the corner. Grace with the knee to the face of Lee but she kicks out at two. Grace rips at the turnbuckle pad and then heads to the floor for her title belt. The ref disarms Grace of the title, and she screams like a child.
Lee has Grace up and she hits the Warrior’s Way! The cover, but Brookside grabs Grace’s foot and puts it on the ropes! She pulls Lee out of the ring and beats on her and screams like a banshee. Brookside throws Lee into the ring steps while the ref is totally oblivious and tied up with the ref. Like the ref didn’t hear the smack of the stairs or nothing. Xia throws Lee into the ring, and Grace hits a knee to the back of the head of Lee and she retains her title.
WINNER: Ariana Grace (Still Champion)
TIME: 8:00
THOUGHTS: Not so good, Al. But then again, Ariana isn’t the prototypical champion, as she has to win by any underhanded way that she can. And tonight, it took Xia turning on Lee for her to retain her title.
RATING: **1/2
Thursday Night Impact promo that we got earlier in the show is aired again.
Tom and Matt discuss Xia betraying Lei a moment ago, but they are interrupted by the OG MADMAN Eric Young. Well, he did say he would call out EC3, so it looks like we have reached that point. He is going to make this real quick, he is tired of being here. Now, EC3, I said you could come out here and plead your case for why you think you belong in this world. I understand you are a nepo baby, and Aunt Dixie isn’t here to protect you anymore. He already removed your silver spoon, but I know you are a smart man, and you probably went home like a coward. He hates Cleveland, he hates Ohio, and he hates everything about this place.
TROUBLE TROUBLE TROUBLE TROUBLE! EC3 is here, and he looks exactly like he never left TNA. He removes his sport coat and gets into the ring with Young. EY goes to attack EC3, but EC3 clotheslines EY to the floor. He has the mic now. Top 1%, two-time TNA World Champion, EC3 is back! He is here to challenge Young to a match on Thursday, as AMC becomes EC3, that makes sense! But pursuant to who he is, pursuant as to why he is here, his mind, his body, his soul, the trouble, he has only one thing to say. I’M FROM CLEVELAND, BITCH!
Well, EC3 being back in TNA is the best place for him, honestly. He’s got the history, and he wasn’t doing much for NWA anymore.
Slammiversary is live on Sunday, June 28th in Boston!
Video package for the International Title match, with a really cool feature from Order-4 and intro for Ali.

The bell rings and both men circle one another. Lock-up, and Ali with the headlock. Ali lets go and pops Miguel, so Trey hits back. Ali off the ropes with a leapfrog and a snap Rana. Miguel says that’s cute and he snaps off a Rana of his own and smacks Ali. Mustafa retreats to the floor and consults with Order-4.
Miguel implores Ali to return to the ring, and Ali knees him in the gut and chops him. Miguel says hit me again, so Ali does, and Miguel pushes Ali to the middle of the ring. THOUGHTS: And I thought it was going to be tough to top the opening match between Slater and Alexander, these two blew that one out of the water. Unreal counters, unreal moves, and two guys just throwing everything they had at each other. And don’t let the interference from the Good Hands and Tasha take anything away from what happened in the ring.
RATING: ****1/2
Lei Ying Lee is brooding in the back. Gia Miller is here. She’s sorry to bother Lee, but she is going to anyway lol. Lee is emotional and can only ask why and walks away. Be right back, guys, I need to console her.
We get a continuation of whatever the hell is going on with Rosemary and the Merry Time Gang. Apparently, Abyss is back, and Rosemary hugs him and tells him to not let Father James Mitchell manipulate him. They stare at each other, as we see Mara Sade running and screaming in the back. Tessa Blanchard is walking and her chin doesn’t look very happy.
Mitchell says he owes Abyss an apology, he doesn’t know about quantum mechanics or the Mandela Effect, but one day he woke up and he was a father at age eight. Abyss says Mitchell doesn’t owe him an apology. What you did for me and my career, you provided me with a family and shelter when I needed it. We were dominant. He remembers his first World Title, as he laid in that barbwire, and Mitchell put that title on him. He remembers the many battles with Sting, Christian Cage, and AJ Styles. And let’s not forget, Barbwire Massacre and our good friends.
Mitchell says he never told him this, but when he was a child and they asked him what he wanted to be, he said he wanted to be a mad scientist. And they asked why, and he said because he wanted to build monsters. But Abyss proved them wrong, and those were the best years of his career and of his life. Abyss says you were a manager, my guidance, my hope, my father. You gave me life, and we dominated TNA wrestling. In the history books will always show that, but the one thing the history books won’t show is how much I love you. Abyss has to go now, and Mitchell wants to know if we can do the thing one last time. They do CLICK, DOOMSDAY one more time, and Abyss disappears. Rosemary grins at us, and this will be continued!
The Tag Team Titles are on the line, next!
TNA World Tag Team Title Match: The Hardys (C) vs. The System
The System is being represented by Bear Bronson and Brian Myers, who Matt notes are a mentor and student type of relationship.
The bell rings, as Myers and Jeff Hardy will start this off. Matt and Jeff are dressed up like they are going to hunt some deer. Matt gets the tag and they double team Myers. Bronson takes offense and enters the ring only to eat a double team suplex from the Hardys. Matt proceeds to DELETE Myers out of existence and hits the Side Effect for a two. Has the Side Effect ever won a match for Matt?
Myers escapes to the floor, but it’s a TRAP, as Bronson trucks Matt. Myers slams Matt into the ring apron and throws him back into the ring. The fans try to will on the Hardys, but Bronson is in with an elbow drop to Matt. Bronson overpowers Matt to the corner and takes a cheap shot at Jeff. Jeff hits back, and a striking battle breaks out. Hardy with a jawbreaker, and Jeff locks in the Spinal Destination. It’s pretty neat seeing Jeff implement submission moves, you’re never too old to stop learning. At any rate, Myers makes the safe and eats the Plot Twist from the Hardys.
Matt punches Bronson, and Matt wants Poetry in Motion. After seemingly forever, Jeff obliges. Matt hits the Twist of Fate, as Jeff throws off his shirt and heads to the top. Myers is back on the apron, and he drags Jeff off the top rope. Jeff eats a SUPERKICK from Myers and Bear Driver from Bronson…and that’s it?
WINNER: The System (AND NEW!)
TIME: 10:20
THOUGHTS: I’m shocked that Myers and Bronson won the tag team titles, even if Matt and Jeff are banged up. Considering who Matt and Jeff have beaten during this recent title run, I didn’t think they would lose.
RATING: ***
Moose and Alisha Edwards are in the back. Moose has ice on his body and Alisha on her ankle. She says she has to be here for the main event, but Moose isn’t happy about this. Alisha demands she get her more ice, so we see Moose walking away.
Tom and Matt run down two matches for this Thursday’s edition of Impact, those being KC Navarro and AJ Francis, and EC3 and Eric Young.
A tale of the tape is shown for the two men in tonight’s main event. Eddie is out with the rest of the System and Downstait. You may know them as the band who has performed the theme songs for the likes of the Miz, Matt Cardona, and Cody Rhodes!
TNA World Heavyweight Title Match: Mike Santana (C) vs. Eddie Edwards
Mackenzie with the in-ring introductions for this match. The bell rings, and no one is in a hurry here. Early lock-up leads to nothing, and a second also leads to nothing. A third time, and Edwards grabs wrist control. Santana rolls to escape Edwards, frustrating the challenger as he backs off.
Another lock-up, headlock from Santana, hip toss from Santana, one from Edwards, Santana can’t Spin the Block or hit the Rolling Buck Fifty, and Eddie can’t hit the Boston Knee Party. Edwards takes a powder to the floor. By the way, I don’t see Alisha out here like she told Moose she was going to be for the main event.
Eddie return to the ring, as Edwards kicks Santana in the gut and tries a shoulder tackle, but Santana won’t budge. He tries a second time, but still no go. Santana off the ropes and he flattens out Edwards who AGAIN heads out to the floor. Eddie sneaks back in and tries the BKP, but Satana was waiting and avoided it. Edwards lights up Santana with chops, but he reverses that with a springboard moonsault off the middle rope. Eddie again ends up on the floor, but Santana hits a Tope Suicida!
Back in the ring, but Santana misses the Papi Splash, and Eddie hits the Tiger Driver for a two. Eddie sends Santana to the floor, but Mike hits Eddie with an apron suplex. Santana with a chop, but Eddie goes to the eyes of Mike. Santana goes for the backfist, but he smacks the ring post instead. Eddie throws Santana into the ring steps and he gets in the face of Ariana, Mike’s daughter.
Edwards breaks the count and heads back out to slam Mike’s shoulder into the ring steps. He returns Santana to the ring, and he pins the champion for a two. Santana fights back with strikes, but he ends up posting himself. Edwards helps out and posts Santana in the opposite corner, as Mike hits the floor. Edwards takes time to pose before heading to the floor.
Eddie returns Mike to the ring and pins Santana for a two. Edwards works an arm submission as Santana gets to his feet. Edwards cuts that off with a headbutt, but Mike fires back with a flying clothesline. The match resets, as both men have to pull themselves up in opposite corners. Edwards charges in and eats a corner enziguri from Santana. Outline in Chalk leads to the CANNONBALL from Santana! Sit out Powerbomb, but Edwards is out at two.
Santana to the top, and he hits the Papi Splash this time, but Edwards kicks out at two. Both men end up on the apron, and Edwards goes to the eyes and hits an Enziguri. Fisherman’s Suplex on the apron by Edwards, as both men hit the floor. Edwards get to his feet first, and he tears up sections of the padding at ringside. Edwards grabs Santana, but Mike fights him off. They both miss moves, Edwards with a headbutt, but Mike snatches up Eddie and hits a Death Valley Driver on the concrete!
At the count of nine, both men slide into the ring to avoid being counted out. They get in each other’s faces as they get back to their feet. Pump kicks cancel each other out, but Santana hits a lariat. Alisha is out now on crutches. Moose’s theme hits and he slowly makes his way out onto the stage. He points to the video wall, and we see what played out earlier. But there’s more, as what we didn’t see was Alisha on her phone talking to someone about getting Cedric the X-Division Title, the boys the tag team titles, and Baby, we’ll make sure you win thew World Title.
In the distraction, the System come out to attack Moose, and Santana takes flight and wipes them all out. He returns to the ring, but Edwards hits him with the BKP! Santana kicks out at two! Alisha throws one of her crutches to Eddie, but Moose SPEARS Edwards! The pin, but Edwards kicks out at two. Cedric sneaks into the ring, but Santana hits him with the Rolling Buck Fifty! Another BKP from Eddie, but AGAIN Mike kicks out at two! Spin the Block from Santana! A big lariat and ANOTHER Spin the Block, and Santana retains!
WINNER: Mike Santana (Still Champion)
TIME: 19:10
THOUGHTS: The match went from being a slow, plodding affair to an overbooked cluster where the big surprise (Alisha betraying Moose to re-align with Eddie and the System) didn’t even payoff. It wasn’t the worst match on the show, but it certainly didn’t touch Alexander-Slater or Ali-Miguel.
RATING: ***1/4
Santana is awarded his title belt by Carlos as Moose stares at him from the ramp. And with that, we are done!
