Hello everyone, and welcome to our live WWE NXT coverage on 411! Jeremy Thomas here as always, and with No Mercy in the rearview we’re looking ahead to next week and NXT Invasion! (Also Halloween Havoc, but that’s a few weeks out still.) We have a new NXT Champion in Ricky Saints, who will be on the show tonight as well as Lash Legend vs. Jaida Parker. And oh yeah, Ava and Santino will pick their teams for next week’s big NXT vs. TNA elimination match. Things are getting very interesting on Tuesday nights, and hopefully that means a fun show tonight.

Here at Thomas HQ, I’m deep into my viewing for the 2025 Hooptober Viewing Challenge. Over the past week I watched Deathgasm for the first time and enjoyed its slacker horror comedy vibes, while the Corey Haim-starring Watchers doesn’t quite hold up from the 1980s but still has some fun moments. John Barrymore is a blast in the 1920 version of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Fido was a delightful little zomcom satire, The Harbinger is a pandemic horror film with some real eeriness to it, and Frogs was sadly not as much cheesy 1970s fun as I hoped it would be (but is still worth a watch if that’s your thing).

Outside of my Hooptober viewing, I found myself surprisingly compelled with the Netflix documentary aka Charlie Sheen, in which Sheen comes off way better than I thought. The documentary Riefenstahl is a powerful look at the highly controversial filmmaker Leni Riefenstahl, who made propaganda films for the Nazis, while The Strangers: Chapter 2 was a colossal misfire and one of my least favorite movies of the year — and that’s from someone who didn’t mind Chapter 1 as much as most. But Madelaine Petsch is worth praising and deserves a better horror franchise than this one.

On the TV side, I finished out Alien: Earth and loved it all the way to the last frame; bring on season two!

Meanwhile, you can check out the latest episode in the Final Ghouls of Horror below as Holly, L and I look at the mother of all shark movies in Jaws! You can subscribe wherever you listen to podcasts, including YouTube.

As a reminder, the GoFundMe for Larry’s kids is still active and if you can make a donation, that would be awesome. Thank you so much to everyone who’s done so thus far.

* TUDUM.

* We get a recap of the TNA invasion on last week’s show during the Oba Femi vs. Trick Williams match.

* We then get the recap of NXT No Mercy with Je’Von Evans winning, Sol Ruca defeating Jaida Parker after Lash Legend got involved, Parker attacking Lash, and Ethan Page retaining the NXT NA Title against Tavion Heights. We see El Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. promise to see him soon, and Lola Vice getting screwed by Lainey Reid someone to let Jacy Jayne retain the Women’s Champion. Finally, we see JG defeat Blake Monroe in the Weaponized Cage match, and Ricky Saints capture the NXT Championship from Oba Femi.

* We’re LIVE in the Capitol Wrestling Center and kicking off with the champ! Ricky Saints makes his way down to the ring. Saints gets the mic and takes in a “YOU DESERVE IT!” chant before thanking the fans. He says that he said every giant needs to rest and he proved that when he put Oba down. He says he vowed to headline every PLE and win the NXT Title, and reality is standing right here in front of them. It hasn’t been an easy journey and there have been empty, doubtful nights and a lot of questions of if he could do it. But he asks, did he do it? The crowd yells “YEAH!”

Ricky says he’ll always stand on business and when it came down to it, he put all the chips on the line, bet on himself and walked out NXT Champion. He says the title is proof that the only person you need to worry about is you, because the only person you see in the mirror when you go to sleep is yourself —

JACY JAYNE IS HERE! Jacy congratulates Ricky but says they have bigger things to worry about. She says pay no attention to the losers; the TNA roster is trying to take over NXT. She says no one likes to talk about herself more than her —

AVA IS HERE! She says for once Jacy took her words out of her mouth. She’s right; they do have more important things to worry about because Ricky and Jacy are the team captains for NXT, so they have to decide who is on their team. She tells them to put their pride and differences aside, because they need the best women and man in NXT —

SANTINO! The TNA Director of Authority is here! Santino tells Ah-va that that is a great idea; he will let his captains choose his team as well. He doesn’t trust Tricky Williams so he’s not a captain; how can you trust a guy named Tricky? His captain is Mike Santanada! SANTANA IS HERE! And the second capitan is someone from NXT: Kelanie Jordan!

KELANI IS HERE TOO! She fistbumps Santino and Santana as we’re reminded how Jordan won the TNA Knockouts Championship at Victory Road.

All six people are in the ring, and Ava says both teams need to be finalized by the end of the night. Santino says this isn’t an invasion; it’s more of an NXT and TNA Showcase — no, a showdown! He says he’ll see them later.

Jacy says hold on! Trick is TNA Champion but not Captain, but Kelani is a captain? How does that make sense? Ricky says they don’t need to be concerned about them, and should focus on their team so he’ll see Santana at the end of the night.

* Lash and Jaida WALK backstage, their match is after the break.

* Je’Von Evans is backstage and runs into Leon Slater. Slater assures Evans he’s alone and Evans says they’re going to have the youngest dream match in history.

The Culling come up and Shawn Spears says of course Evans would be talking to one of the TNA guys. Evans says they’re goofy and that if they’re on opposite teams, so be it. That leads to a tag match set up.

Lyra Valkyria walks in and says she made Tatum something — a Lyra doll! Tatum is very excited and gets whisked away by Izzi and the rest.

Jaida Parker vs. Lash Legend

It starts off right as Lash enters the ring, and Jaida gets put in the corner. She fights her way out and comes off the ropes, but gets downed with an uppercut. Suplex attempt by Lash, and she hits it; cover gets two.

Jaida thrown to the apron, she dodges a charge by Lash and kicks her. Back into the ring but Lash knocks Jaida down and she rolls to the floor. Lash follows and gets slammed back into the apron, she tries to roll in but gets yanked out. Jaida with a shot and Samoan drop on the ringside mats as we go to break.

We’re back and Lash nails Jaida, who leaps over for a sunset flip and gets her down for two-plus. Lash grabs Jaida’s leg and goes into a single-leg crab. Jaida crawls to the robes and gets the break. Lash pulls her to the center of the ring and goes for a splash, but Jaida rolls out of the way. Into the ropes for a Blockbuster neckbreaker.

Both women slow to get up; Jaida ducks a clothesline and runs over Lash off the ropes, then hits a hip smash in the corner. Fisherman’s neckbreaker for a nearfall. Jaida off the ropes — Lash grabs her by her gear and pulls her into the corner, but Jaida elbows out! She sets Lash in the corner, beats on her – Tear Drop! But Lash is right up — PUMP KICK!

Jaida to the outside, Lash follows and throws Jaida into the ringsteps. She tosses Jaida into the barricade and rolls her in. Lash follows, sets her up — but Jaida counters the finisher into the ropes! Drive By finishes it1

Winner: Jaida Parker (9:06)
Rating: ** 3/4
Thoughts: Not the greatest of matches, but it was solid and had some nice moments. Jaida was the right choice to go over; Lash is fine but Jaida has the bigger upside.

* Everyone’s backstage including Ricky and Je’Von when Trick comes in and says he’ll be co-captain with Ricky. Ricky says there’s only two spots left, and one of then goes to Evans. Williams says he doesn’t like Young OG, but they need him. He has an idea for the last guy: Myles Borne. Trick likes Myles but doesn’t think he’s hearing what he’s saying. They need power and strength. Jasper Troy is there, but Trick suggests Briggs. Evans says he won’t work with Briggs and Ricky says he doesn’t get a pick. Ricky doesn’t like Briggs, but they need him.

Evans walks off, Ricky says he’ll handle it. They get a match set up between Borne and Briggs, with the winner joining the team.

* We’re back and here comes Ethan Page! All Ego makes his way to the ring and gets a mic and says Well, he seems to have done it again! He says he’s the greatest North American Champion and turned away another dangerous threat, an Olympic level threat in Tavion Heights, and showed him there was a talent gap between Olympic athletes and him.

But now he’s ready to take his business south of the border, as he a medical professional in Dr. Wagner Jr. trying to come after his title. He says the only doctorate Wagner has is in pissing him off, and he’s good at it. Someone arrives by car and Page believes it’s Wagner, so he says come out so they can end it.

But it’s not! MUSTAFA ALI IS HERE! Ali addresses the citizens of NXT and says he hopes no one minds his unannounced arrival. He says he has no issues with anything Page said, but he does have an issue with what Page is holding. Page has no issues with Ali, but he owes Ali nothing. Ali is right that Page doesn’t owe him anything — but NXT does. He says it wasn’t long ago that he earned an opportunity at that title.

Twists and turns happened, but he never got his title shot. He started to wonder if he was cursed, but two years ago on this day he was promised a title match at No Mercy 2023. But instead of that title match, he got a phone call telling him his services were no longer needed. 749 days later, he’s still waiting for the title shot he earned!

Page says this is the part where Ali cries, right? It’s a hell of a sob story but he’s not the guy to hear it. Ali says he’s not gonna cry for a title match; he’ll politic for it.; And that’s what he did! He spoke to Ava and Santino and next week at Showdown, it will be his chance to end the curse as Page will defend the title against him!

Page says he shouldn’t be surprised at all. Every wrestler from every company is coming after him and every challenger for his title is cursed. He says it’s a great story but next Tuesday, he disappoints Ali. But don’t worry; he won’t call him in the phone to fire him. He will issue him his best endeavors though.

Ali nails Page! He knocks him out of the ring! Page grabs his title and glares.

* Wren Sinclair is with Kendal Grey when Jacy walks in with Fallon and says she has to be careful in choosing who stands by her side. Jaida looks like a strong candidate, and Sol defended her title at No Mercy. Whether she likes her or not, she needs winners. Sol is in. Lola says to hear her out; she needs her on the team and she’s willing to put her differences on the side. Fallon says she’s getting that shot. Lainey walks in and says Jacy can’t trust Fallon and it becomes an argument. Jacy says Fallon vs. Lola, winner gets the spot. Meanwhile, Zaria wants to talk to Sol privately.

* The Hardys say they’re fulfilling another destiny next week against DarkState. Matt says they don’t know which two are facing them but they’re on a mission to cement their legacy and can do so by winning the only tag titles they’ve never won. They’re coming to win he titles and DELETE DarkState.

Myles Borne vs. Josh Briggs

Circle and lockup, Borne shoved to the ground but he’s back up and shoves Briggs back. Briggs goozles Borne, who escapes and locks in a headlock. Shot into the ropes, he collides with Briggs who doesn’t go down. They go head-to-head, Borne with a back suplex and cover for two.

Briggs to the outside, Borne DIVES onto him! Borne gets Josh in the ring, goes up, high crossbody for two. Borne charges into the corner but eats a back elbow, Briggs throws Borne into the middle turnbuckle and then lays in a boot choke for four. He hits a overhead forearm to Borne’s head for two.

Briggs is distracted by the crowd but grabs Borne for back elbows in the corner. he tosses Borne across the ring — and Borne pops up! Briggs into the ropes, and he runs over Borne with a crossbody and then hits a chokeslam for two as we go to break.

We’re back and they trade shots in the center of the ring. Briggs into the corner, Borne comes in and ends up on the apron. He clips, fights Briggs off but leaps into a backbreaker and another for two-plus!

Briggs puts Borne in the corner and charges but Borne dodges and goes into the ropes for a couple clotheslines — powerslam for almost three! Bodyslam but Briggs slips down the back, into the ropes — Borne with a back suplex! Code Red, but Briggs hits a big boot as they both go down!

Briggs rips off the chain and goes to nail him with it — Cardona is here! He stops Briggs and Borne with a dropkick and Borne Again! That’s it!

Winner: Myles Borne (10:14)
Rating: ***
Thoughts: Good hoss match here with both men doing fine work. Cardona’s appearance was fun, and Borne getting the win was a good step in building him up.

* Jordynne Grace is with Kelani Jordan and she talks about how important the title is. She says she’d rather be on Kelani’s team, and Kelani says people don’t know where she and Joe stand. Jordynne says Joe Hendry?

HE’S HERE! He says he understands the logic but Jordynne and her, they’re —

Mike Santana is here! She says they have one foot on either side and he’s not leaving anything to chance. Mike has people he wants Kelani to meet, they walk off and Joe and Jordynne say they have to be part of this somehow.

Lola Vice vs. Fallon Henley

Lockup to start, they go into the ropes and trade position. Fallon slaps Lola and mocks her, so Lola rolls her up for a couple pin attempts before going to the arm. Fallon backs Lola into the corner and then goes under, yanking her to the mat.

Fallon comes back with a shot and goes into the ropes but gets knocked down, kick to the back of Fallon’s head. INto the ropes, Fallon gets a leg kick and goes into the corner where she gets kicked by Vice. Fallon whiped into the ropes for an elbow to the head, Jacy distracts Lola but not enough and Lola batters Fallon into the corner.

Fallon dodges a charge, sets Lola into the ropes and slides out for a German suplex! Back in and she nails Lola with a knee strike.Lola into the corner, Fallon shoves her back in and then hits a snapmare and diving neckbreaker for two.

Fallon slows it down with a cravat, but Lola tosses her off and hits kicks to the chest. Snap suplex, then a back suplex and kicks to the side. Fallon blocks one but gets kicked out of the ring. Lola to the apron and gets yanked down to the mat, into the ring but Lola with a backfist for three.

Winner: Lola Vice (3:48)
Rating: ** 1/2
Thoughts: As good as a three and a half minute match is gonna be.

* DarkState are here for a promo and Orisis say most would think it was an honor, but Cutler says not them. Shugars says there’s no basking in the moment or being happy to be here. Dion says no matter who it is, it won’t be different. Osiris says he and Dion took the NXT titles so they’ll do the TNA ones too. The DarkState takeover is continuing and that’s a guarantee.

* Jacy says it’s not on Fallon; she shouldn’t have put her in the match. Lainey walks in and tells Jacy not to be so hard on herself, and then acknowledges she attacked Lola and also took out Jazmyn before walking off.

Je’Von Evans & Leon Slater vs. Shawn Spears & Niko Vance

Spears and Slater start off, waistlock by Spears reversed but Spears reverses and hits a shot to the gut. Back suplex, Slater lands on his feet and knocks Spears into the corner, jumps on him and delivers punches! Spears shoves Slater back and gets kicked. Niko tags in, Je’Von tags in two and hits a springboard rana and dropkick.

Wristlock by Evans, Slater tags in for a top-rope axhehandle to the head. Slater into the ropes and gets headbutted. Izzi yells at a distracted Tatum outside, Spears tags in and nails Slater, Evans tags in and gets nailed with a spinebuster. Izzi yells at Tatum again and takes her to the back.

Meanwhile Evans knocks Spears to the outside and he and Slater dive on The Culling as we go to break.

Spinning back suplex and a cover, but Vance breaks it up!

Slater kicks SPears down, he goes up but Spears nails Evans and then nails a diving Slater in the jaw. Chaos, Slater hits a springboard cutter and so does Evans! Evans dives on Vance, Slater up top — Swanton 450 finishes it!

Winner: Je’Von Evans & Leon Slater (10:51)
Rating: *** 1/4
Thoughts: A showcase for Evans and Slater to give them some heat headed toward Bound For Glory, and it was a damned good one.

The TNA roster has arrived in the parking lot! So has the NXT roster! The parking lot is about to get violent (as usual)!

* There was chaos during the break and now the NXT and TNA rosters are around the ring. Ava breaks down the card. She says before it gets any more out of control. Ava says for the men —

Trick says he’s been doing some thinking and as the co-captain, he selects — Ricky Saints says Trick is riding shotgun and he’s the captain. It’ll be him, Trick, Je’Von Evans, and Myles Borne.

Mike Santana’s turn and he says they have a locker room full of men who would love to turn this place upside down. But he knows who he’s choosing: a true TNA OG in Frankie Kazarian, a three-time former World Champ in Moose, and the man who’s been setting TNA on fire, Leon Slater!

Jacy says when she was TNA Knockouts Champion she still repped NXT. So Kelani can look innocent all she wants, but she’s a two-timing traitor. Jacy picks the only double champ in the building in Sol Ruca, plus Jaida Parker and someone she knows very well, the hardest hitter in Lola Vice.

Kelani says Jacy can think what she wants, but she accepts all responsibilities as champion even if it means going against NXT, but especially to shut Jacy up. She picks two iconic women in The IInspiration. And she picks someone she shared a locker room with — Mara Sade (Jakara Jackson for those that don’t watch TNA).

Santana says next Tuesday they’re seizing the night and TNA is winning Showdown, the same way he’s bringing the World Title where it belongs at BFG.

Cue the brawl.

Set For Next Week:

Shawn Michaels walks out to watch the carnage with a smile.

And with that, we’re done for the night!
