Kevin Sullivan Offers Headliner Predictions for WrestleMania 40
On a recent episode of Tuesday with The Taskmaster, Kevin Sullivan shared his thoughts on potential headliner matches for WrestleMania 40, assuming Dwayne Johnson doesn’t put in an appearance (via Wrestling Inc). In Sullivan’s mind, he thinks the most likely scenario would be a matchup between Seth Rollins and CM Punk for the first evening of the event, followed by Cody Rhodes facing Roman Reigns in the main event of the show. You can find some additional details from Sullivan on the subject below.
On the primary bouts for WrestleMania 40: “I think you’re gonna end up seeing Cody and Roman as the main event, and I like the idea of ‘Freakin Rollins against Punk for Night 1. I think they’ve already started telling the story for [Punk versus Rollins] by holding them back, giving each other the finger, causing shit backstage … I think that will be it.”
On the dynamics behind a Punk/Rollins match: “He left with some stink on him. Rollins is going to pick on that, and that may be the angle of the main event. But if Punk’s put in there with anybody else, I think he’d get some heat on himself. Even as great as he is, it’s like when Cody didn’t win at WrestleMania [38], people were really mad. But when he wins, the pop is going to be so much bigger.”
