Kofi Kingston: “Representation Is So Important”

Following his WWE Title win over Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 35 last night, Kofi Kingston appeared on ESPN’s Get Up! this morning and was asked about Xavier Woods’ tweet from last night where he reacted to Kofi’s win and talked about the importance of representation:
“Ive never felt emotions like this in my entire career. @TrueKofi did it. We all did it. Tonight a previously closed off part of the @wwe universe realized that they can be champion too & that representation is so much more important than people realize. Congrats Kofi. We love you”
Kofi said this about the tweet:
“It means the world. Xavier and Big E are like my brothers and we spend more time with each other than we do with our own families and he hit the nail right on the head with what he said there. Representation is so important. To be able to have people that look like us, to be able to look at the screen and see that it’s possible to do great things, and you know, even just people in general, who have struggled, that’s what it has been for me for the past 11 years. I’d never had a singles match for a major WWE Championship Title and here we are. So now, those people, through actually seeing what happened, believe that it’s possible because they see with their own eyes. So it’s important to represent all those groups.”
