Former WWE Superstar Krissy Vaine has opened up about a scrapped storyline that would have seen her play Torrie Wilson’s sister during the mid-2000s. Speaking with Wrestling with Heart, Vaine discussed her unexpected main roster debut in 2007 and the confusion surrounding her creative direction.
According to Vaine, WWE initially kept her hair dark in developmental because she looked too much like Torrie Wilson. When she returned to her natural blonde, she suddenly received a call from WWE officials, giving her only three days to prepare for television. She was called up from the developmental system in 2007.
“The last I heard, they were never gonna call me up because I looked too much like Torrie Wilson. So I had my hair darker for a long time because I was trying to not look like Torrie Wilson. And then I think one day I woke up and I was like… I was again sort of mentally, spiritually, emotionally shot. I was done, and I was like, ‘I’m making my hair blonde again. I’m tired of being somebody that the powers that be want me to be. I’m gonna go back to who I am. I was born with hair this color.’”
Krissy Vaine decided to go blonde again without telling anyone. Shockingly, within two weeks of her transformation, she was asked to go on the road. Scrambling for a ring gear, she sought help from Jolene, who was a full-time WWE seamstress at the time, to make her debut possible. Her SmackDown debut featured her attacking Torrie in a backstage segment. She later heard that WWE’s original plan was to introduce her as Torrie’s on-screen sister, potentially setting up a major storyline.
“So we threw together an outfit really, really quickly, still didn’t know what I was doing, went to the TV, and they basically told me that I was gonna be kind of attacking Torrie Wilson. But they didn’t tell me that they had the intention on me being her little sister, which I guess… I heard this later, that I was gonna be her little sister. I don’t know if this is true, Tommy told somebody else and then they told me, that I was supposed to win the belt. No-one told me any of this. I still don’t know to this day if any of this is true.”
Unfortunately, the angle never developed further. Vaine left WWE shortly after, citing locker room bullying and mental health struggles.
