Kurt Angle Recalls Controversial JBL Angle With Eddie Guerrero At Mexican Border

On the latest episode of the Kurt Angle Show, the WWE Hall of Famer talked about the controversial JBL at the Mexican Border promo angle to further his feud heading into Judgment Day 2004 with Eddie Guerrero for the WWE Title. JBL appeared in a video where he was kicking out undocumented immigrants at the border as a shot at Guerrero. You can check out some highlights below:
On Eddie’s reaction to it: Surprisingly, he was pretty quiet about it. I don’t think he had much to say. But Eddie took it, took it really well, and he became the victim of it. Yeah, he did well, it really worked well for him. So I understand why he didn’t speak up and say, you know, this, this is crap. You know, you guys are being racist. He was like, hey, ‘I’ll play the victim and I’ll make the fans feel for me.’
On getting away with angles like this: “But in those days. Everything was blurred [the lines]back then, definitely. But you could get away with it back then.”
