Earlier this year, WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle revealed that a film based on his Olympic and pro wrestling career is in the works.

In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, the Olympic gold medalist provided further updates on this. Angle said that he has been in talks with a couple of directors, and they are still on board with the idea. He also revealed that while they have managed to secure investors, they are still working on tightening the script.

Kurt Angle also added that they are biding their time at the moment and that the film may not come out anytime soon, as a similar sports-based drama, The Smashing Machine, was recently released.

“We are working on that movie,” Angle said. “I have the directors, Ian and Eshom Nelms; they’re brothers. They were former wrestlers in high school and college. So they understand my work. We’ve been talking to each other. We’re almost done with the script. We’ve already got the investors. So we’re in a good position right now,” he said.

Kurt Angle continued:

“But we’re not going…we’re going to make sure the script’s perfected before we do anything, before we pick the cast and everything like that. So we’re taking our time. And knowing ‘The Smashing Machine’ just came out, it might be a good time to breathe a little bit and let that movie digest, and then, you know, continue on.” [H/T: Wrestling Inc.]
