Lance Storm is not yet sure how long TNA Impact will be live when it arrives on AMC, though he suspects it depends on numbers. TNA announced last week that they’ve signed a new multi-year media rights deal with AMC. The deal will include live episodes of Impact, including the January 15th premiere.

Storm is a producer at TNA and he spoke on Wrestling Observer Live about the live events. He noted that he doesn’t know the schedule but that it will likely depend on how the live episode numbers do. You can see highlights below:

On How Often the Show Will Likely Be Live:

“I didn’t get anything pinned down other than it won’t be every week. But I suspect long-term it will greatly depend on if the taped shows do as well as the live shows. And if they do, then there won’t be a panic to go live every week. But if the live shows do a lot better, then I would imagine that would be the direction they want to go.”

On the Perception Of Being Live Being More Important:

“Yeah, you need to go live enough to where the fans get the impression that it’s a live show. And then once they sort of have that feeling that they are live shows, you can actually have quite a few of them taped and nobody notices.”

On the Value Of Occasional Live Episodes:

“I think having the occasional live is a real benefit, because it allows you to do the occasional true surprise. Like that was where — when Dolph Ziggler debuted and when Santana debuted and we had those surprises. We had to do them on pay-per-view, because those were the only live shows we had. But now you can throw a few of those out on Impact, because some of the shows are going to be live on AMC starting January 15th.”
