LeBron James got a lot of pushback from fans when he left the Cleveland Cavaliers for the Miami Heat, a situation he recently compared to Hulk Hogan joining the nWo. James famously left his home team in 2010 and became an instant villain in Cleveland, and he recently reflected on the moment in an appearance on Mind The Game.

“I grew up watching Hulk Hogan,” James said (per Fightful). “At one point, Hulk Hogan was like America, and everyone loved him. What it means to be an American. Then one day, he went to the nWo, and people couldn’t understand how he tagged up with the enemy. They were like, ‘what is going on?’ Everybody just booed him. He went from wearing red and yellow to black and white.”

He continued, “One, we’re entertainers as well… listen, we want to go out and have fun, smile and be happy because that’s what brings us joy, but we can tap into the Joker role if yall make us, now. We can get there too now, and still be able to perform at a high level.”

In true wrestling fashion, James would get the babyface return when he went back to the Cavs in 2014.
