Leighty’s NXT Level Up Review 9.23.22

-Tomorrow my recap of the new Table for 3 featuring the Steiner Family drops. Quick Spoiler: It was awesome! Let’s get to it!

-Announce Team: Sudu Shah, Nigel McGuiness, and Matt Camp
-Taped: WWE PC, Orlando, FL

Dante Chen vs. Bryson Montana

-Lockup to start and Bryson shoves off and gets a shoulder tackle. Chen tries a go behind, but Montana reverses. Chen turns that around in a side headlock. Montana tries to throw Chen to break, but he grabs the arm to maintain control. A hair pull finally breaks for Montana, but Chen springs off the ropes for another side headlock and gets a take down. He hits a splash in the corner, but gets mowed down by Montana with a clothesline. Montana gets the mount and hammers down with fists. He hooks a body vice and works that for a bit as the crowd does their dueling chants. Chen fights to his feet, but gets dropped with a Michinoku Driver for two. Montana continues his work on the back and ribs with a bear hug. The chant starts to get fully behind Chen, but doesn’t help as Montana slams him down for another two count and then goes back for the bear hug. Montana preps for a powerbomb, but Chen backdrops out. Chen blocks some strikes and lands some of his own. He hits rapid fire punches and hits a clothesline followed by an atomic drop and boot to the jaw. Double karate chop finishes at 5:47

Winner: Dante Chen via pin at 5:47
-Super basic and fine for this show. No complaints here! **

-Miles Bourne gets some promo time backstage to hype his match tonight against Andre Chase.

-This is Awesome commercial! Wonder when they will have new episodes of that show out?

Indi Hartwell (Lumis) vs. Valentina Feroz

-We are told that Leon is out 9 months with an injury and thus why Feroz has been having so many solo matches. Lockup to start and Feroz gets arm control, but Indi uses her power to fight Feroz off. Armbar from Feroz, but Indi just dumps her to the match and gets a shoulder tackle for two. Hartwell goes to work on the neck with a reverse chinlock. Feronz reverses and gets a slingshot into the ropes for two. Feroz tries a dropkick, but Indi holds the ropes to counter. They go through a pin fall sequence with each lady kicking out at two. Indy tries a suplex, but Feroz blocks, so Indi just muscles her up and gets the suplex for two. Indi takes it to the mat with a bow and arrow. Feroz rallies and gets a crossbody, but gets planted with a spinebuster for the win at 4:37.

Winner: Indi Hartwell via pin at 4:37
-Again, super basic but it had some good energy and the crowd had fun. *

-Paul Heyman Extreme Rules commercial!

-WWE Shop commercial!

Myles Borne vs. Andre Chase (w/ Bodhi Heyward and Thea Hail)

-Chase U Student Section out in full force as always! Everytime Chase U appears on my screen it makes me want to play NCAA 14. Great game that I am glad I never sold. Of course the value will likely drops when new College Football game comes out next year. Of course if that game sucks it may make people long for NCAA 14 again and the value could go up again. Sorry, got sidetracked there. Some mat wrestling to start leads to a stalemate. Another go and Chase gets a hammerlock and then grinds Borne down on the mat. Borne rolls out and they trade flips and cartwheels. They go through a reversal sequence and Chase gets a jackknife cover for two. Borne lands a dropkick for two and goes to work on the hand and arm. Chase uses the ropes to flip out, but Borne keeps the pressure on the arm. He looks for the armbar, but Chase maintains his grip. They start exchanging blow and Chase wins the battle. He gets an atomic drop followed by a Side Russian Leg Sweep. C-H-A-S-E-U Stomp follows which always pleases the crowd. Chase connects with a top rope crossbody for the win at 5:34.

Winner: Andre Chase via pin at 5:34
-The crowd loved this, but not a lot to this one. What they did was fine, but it was little more than an extended SQUASH for Chase. That’s fine though as Chase is the bigger star and this was only Borne’s 7th match. *1/2

-Thanks for reading!

The final score: review Not So Good

Just a basic show here though the crowd brought a lot of energy thanks to appearances from Andre Chase and Indi. Nothing really good in terms of the in ring action, but it was all serviceable and accomplished what it needed.
