–My book is back in The Top 30 of Amazon’s Best Selling Pro-Wrestling Kindle books. Specific I know, but I will take it. Consider buying a copy and if you have, please leave a review or rating on Amazon as it helps.
-New era for Main Event as the show is now on Rumble. We will see what that means as far as presentation, run time, etc. I have been doing the show for over six years now and decided to keep on rolling with it. I started with the Hulu pandemic era and then to Peacock before YouTube saved them for the last ten months. Away we go!
-For those curious I joined the stream at 8:26 PM and they have 16,569 people watching.
-Then! Now! Forever! Together
-They didn’t change the theme song, so we are still SO ENERGIZED! WE CAME FOR THE PRIZE!
-Announce Team: Blake Howard and Vic Joseph
Rey Fenix (AAA Cruiserweight Champion) vs. Kit Wilson
-You know, they could have given us a Title Match to start this new era. The one change I see is that the show logo is a tad different. All white now instead of Red and Blue. We get a swivel battle to start and the crowd is fired up for this one. Kit with a series of chops, but misses a clothesline. Fenix snaps off a head scissors and sends Kit to the floor. He does the Rey fake-out and that lets Wilson drag him to the floor. Fenix lands a strike, but Wilson rushes back in the ring and lands a back elbow. He misses a charge in the corner, but so does Fenix and Wilson trips him up in the corner. He goes ground and pound before choking on the bottom rope. “Lets Go Fenix” chant from the crowd. Nice! Kit lets them know they are toxic as he slugs Fenix down. SWIVEL! Kit with a cocky cover as he uses a knee and gives us a double bicep pose. Fenix gets a roll-up for two and then throws chops. Fenix gets caught with trying a handspring as Wilson gets a reverse neckbreaker (with a SWIVEL). Nice. Handspring cutter gets a two count. The crowd is enjoying what they are seeing. Wilson back with an uppercut and hits a twist of fate into a pin for two. He tells Fenix he is toxic as he seems frustrated. Rebound clothesline and Kit heads up top. He misses, but rolls through to his feet. Superkick from Fenix and he gets the pin with a double underhook into a face-buster at 5:57.
Winner: Rey Fenix via pin at 5:57
-This was fun and a great way to kick off a new era. You have to hook fans with the new streaming platform and it’s best to throw out a match that is all action. Good stuff from these two. ***1/4
-Survivor Series: War Games! Houston, TX!
-Something new as we get a commercial break in progress screen. So, we don’t get to see the commercials. That’s fine as I can just skip ahead. It was two minutes of that screen for those wondering.
Nathan Frazer (w/ Axiom) vs. Ricky Saints
-These two actually wrestled in AEW on Dark. I remember Frazer from one of the two times I had to cover an AEW show. Lockup and Saints goes to work on the arm. The crowd chants for Saints. Frazer escapes and Saints gets frustrated and kicks the bottom buckle. Guess Frazer drove him OVER THE EDGE. Saints backs Frazer into the corner and delivers a right hand. I keep typing Frazier because it’s a school district in my County. Frazer starts sprinting around the ring and sends Saints to the floor. He sets for a springboard plancha, but Saints trips him and runs him into the stairs. Saints poses to a pop from the crowd. I will say it’s nice not having commercials pop up out of nowhere during the match like I was getting with YouTube. Yes, I am too cheap to pay for the non commercial version. Saints throws right hands in the ring and gets a two count. Saints walks the ropes as he struts and comes off with a forearm. So New School Old School or Blessed Old School. Saints with a reverse chinlock and hooks a body scissors. Frazer flips out of a suplex and knocks Saints to the floor. He lands a kick to send him off the apron and this time hits the tope con hilo. Frazer up top again but Saints moves. Sling Blade back in the ring and Frazer is up top again. Frog Splash connects for two. He goes up again, but takes too long and Saints trips him. Rochambeau connects for the pin at 6:17.
Winner: Ricky Saints via pin at 6:17
-Solid match that didn’t hit the next year that the opener did. Still fun and worth watching. I am noticing that at least for this first episode, the NXT kids aren’t being used. **1/2
-Fury/Joshua commercial! Dec 11! Netflix!
-Two more minutes of commercial in progress. We skip ahead!
Dragon Lee vs. Austin Theory (Maxxine Dupri)
-Lockup and Theory goes for the mask, which draws boos from the crowd. Another go and Lee tries a shoulder tackle, but nothing. Another try and again, nothing. A third try and Theory gets a trip and celebrates with Maxxine on the floor. Lee chases and gets a head scissors back in the ring. He lands a kick in the corner and slings in to deliver another. Basement dropkick in the corner gets one and Theory rolls to the floor. Lee goes to fly, but Maxxine grabs the leg. Theory rushes back in and gets a clothesline. We take a break at 1:36. Haven’t had to type that since Peacock days.
-John Cena pimps Club WWE!
-NXT Halloween Havoc! Oct 31! I will be at a wedding that night.
-Wrestlepalooza: Perth!
-Fury/Joshua! Dec 11! Netflix!
-Back at 3:36 with Lee flipping out of a suplex and landing a kick. Snap German Suplex followed by a forearm. Fury rolls to the floor and this time Lee gets to fly with a tope con hilo. Back in the ring he gets a Tornado DDT for two. We get a commercial around the action pop up for Love’s Rewards. Theory counters Lee and gets a modified Flatliner for two. Theory talks trash, but that backfires. They battle up top and Theory falls into the Tree of Woe. Dragon comes down with a double stomp. Maxxine on the apron and has the ref as Lee gets a roll-up. It gets two as the ref gets there late. Maxxine has the ref again and that lets Theory goes to the eyes and he delivers the forearm smash for the pin at 6:18.
Winner: Austin Theory via pin at 6:18
-Two minutes cut out due to the commercials kind of sucks. It was fine and the crowd seemed to be into it, but the weakest match of the show due to the commercial. **1/4
-WWE Shop!
-Love’s Rewards commercial! It’s a gas station down south I believe. At least, I only ever saw them when we would make the drive from PA to Florida.
-True Caller commercial!
-Keet commercial!
-Two more minutes of Commercial Break in progress.
-Oh we are getting recap stuff back as we head back to SmackDown. Cody Rhodes calls Randy Orton a “human tramp stamp” and “fragile bitch.”
-Also on SmackDown, Tatum Paxley and Alexa Bliss won the Women’s Tag Team Championship!
-Also, also, GUNTHER destroyed Danhausen and Finn Balor.
-GUNTHER gets a pretaped promo as he has been distracted by a goofball like Danhausen. He tells Finn his time has past and he needs to hang it up. He is now focused on winning The WWE Championship.
-Over to RAW as The Usos and Solo went to war with The 946. We get highlights of the match and it was a chaotic, good time. Carmelo Hayes pops up with a crowbar and is the newest member of 946. That’s great!
-Also, Je’Von Evans gives Penta his props for winning MITB. Bron Breakker spears Je’Von as he took the bullet for Penta.
-Also, also, Judgment Day beat up Chelsea Green to build towards the champ vs. champ match between Chelsea and Liv.
-Jackie Redmond (nice to see her) is backstage with Chelsea Green. Chelsea is going to train her ass off and the next time she faces anyone from Judgment Day, there won’t be a doubt that she is the greatest women’s champion of ALLLLLLLL time. I see what she did there.
-WWE Live! Tickets on sale now!
-Love’s Rewards again!
-Omio commercial!
-Sunday City mobile game. No clue!
-Rumble commercial. Shocked this is the first one!
-Keet commercial! Took the second time for me to get it. He’s trying to get information from a parakeet. He won’t talk and flies away. They keep your stuff private.
Lyra Valkyria vs. Sol Ruca
-This is our first Main Event on Rumble’s Main Event. So, this is the first time in six years of covering this show they gave me four matches. Also, no NXT kids this week and I wonder if that’s a permanent change. Lyra gets a take down and tries to work on the leg, but Sol flips out as she uses her freak athleticism. Sol gets a backslide for two. She misses a charge in the corner, but catches Lyra charging and drops her with a face plant. She slaps Lyra in the back of the head and goes surfing on Lyra’s back. That’s kind of a heel move there. They end up on the floor and Lyra misses a dive. Sol tries to spring off the ropes back in, but Lyra knocks her to the floor. Sol is favoring the knee and Lyra has a target now. She drops elbows on the knee and goes after the ankle as well. She gets a reverse crab! Cool! She hooks the arms as well and that’s a sweet submission move. She goes surfing as she mocks Sol. Well, Sol kind of deserved it. “COWABUNGA.” Fantastic! The crowd wants Bayley. Sol powers up as her foot is bend back towards her head. That hurts me just looking at it. Sol sells the knee as she makes a comeback. She snaps off a German and does a kip up on one leg. Sell it girl! She springs off one foot into a splash for two. She goes back to selling the knee and Lyra gets to her feet first. She stumbles to the corner and Sol looks for The Sol Snatcher, but can’t get it due to the knee. She does get a roll-up, but Lyra dropkicks the knee. The crowd is now behind Sol but Lyra clips the knee. Bayley’s music hits which distracts Lyra. Sol uses the distraction to catch Lyra with The Sol Snatcher for the pin at 7:17.
Winner: Sol Ruca via pin at 7:17
-I enjoyed this as Lyra’s new submission based character is fun. I also like that she is getting to show some personality. Credit to Sol for selling the knee and the finish was fun for Main Event as we never got stuff like that. This show typically exists in it’s own universe and having a RAW feud show up on Main Event is kind of wild. This was fun. ***
-Bayley is here and she raises Sol’s hand after the match.
-Thanks for reading!
