– During a recent appearance on Busted Open Radio, former WWE and WCW star Lex Luger spoke openly about the WWE in-ring debut of Sting at WrestleMania 31 against Triple H. During the match, the original nWo members came out to the ring to aid during the match.

According to Luger, the late WWE Hall of Famer Scott Hall actually called Luger up after the event expressing his confusion of why the nWo were there. Considering the nWo were the longtime enemies of Sting, it didn’t make a lot of sense for them to come out to help The Franchise during the matchup. Below are some highlights (via WrestlingInc.com):

Lex Luger on Sting’s WWE in-ring debut at WrestleMania 31: “That definitely could have been done much better, and it would’ve been great for business to do it a different way for sure. I remember Scott Hall had called me afterward. He goes, ‘Man, we were there at ringside.’ He goes, ‘What are we doing here?'”

On Scott Hall’s sense of humor over the booking: “Scott had that sense of humor, man. That dry … wit about him, you know? He had me laughing, but yeah — it definitely could have been done differently and better.”

Triple H defeated Sting during the match. One year later, Sting would announce his retirement during his WWE Hall of Fame induction at the Class of 2016 ceremony. He later returned to the ring after signing with AEW several years later.
