WWE held their second-ever Evolution event last month, which was praised for its matches and atmosphere. In an interview with WrestlingNewsCo, former WWE star Melina described the event as the women’s version of Wrestlemania and thinks it needs to be treated that way. Melina attended this year’s event. Highlights of her comments are below.

On Evolution being the WrestleMania of women’s wrestling: “”It just felt beautiful going up to everybody, reunions everywhere, and then meeting new faces and faces that I’ve seen on TV and never really talked to, I’m surprised I didn’t cry the entire day, but I held it in. It’s a shame that it’s the second… the first was a long time ago, and now it’s a beautiful thing to finally see Evolution 2. I hope on everything, there needs to be an annual one. This is the women’s WrestleMania. It should be treated as such. They contributed to such an amazing show, and it wouldn’t be anything if it wasn’t for them, it’s like they have to understand that it’s not anybody, it’s them. They made this show happen, and I hope they take so much pride in this.”

On getting to be around legends like Torrie Wilson at the show: “And then to watch Torrie Wilson when I was younger, and I wanted to look like her, you know, I was like, ‘I want to be the dark haired Torrie,’ and I loved her, and to sit next to her. And then Molly Holly… Hall of Famers, it was just wow,” she recalled. “Everybody was just, it was, it was a dream for me, like, I know it wasn’t written for me, but it felt like the whole day was like the universe made it special and personal to me.”
