Former WWE referee Mike Chioda was highly critical of Shawn Michaels’ performance in his match against Hulk Hogan back at WWE SummerSlam 2005. Chioda claims that Michaels’ performance was a result of being angry at the WWE office for not being chosen ahead of The Rock vs. Hulk Hogan match earlier at WrestleMania 18 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Chioda also called Michaels unprofessional for his performance in the match and the way he sold Hogan’s offense. Mike Chioda wrote on his X account, “You know it was wrong for Shawn to disrespect Hulk Hogan like that, even tho he was pissy about the WWE office & about he wasn’t chosen before the Rock vs Hogan match WM 18 2002 in Toronto, Canada 🇨🇦 He definitely wasn’t being professional at the time. I remember everyone.”

Hulk Hogan was victorious against Shawn Michaels at WWE SummerSlam 2005. It’s said that Michaels was unhappy that Hogan was unwilling to grant Michaels the win back in a rematch. Also, Michaels appeared upset that Hogan wanted Michaels to play the heel in the matchup, but then Michaels claimed that Hogan was unhappy with Michaels’ heel antics stemming from an on-air skit parodying Hogan on WWE TV.

Hulk Hogan passed away last July at 71 years old. Shawn Michaels currently still works in WWE as Executive Producer of NXT.
