Mistico vs. El Desperado Rematch Announced for NJPW x CMLL Lucha Kingdom

NJPW just confirmed a huge crossover matchup with CMLL set for next month. AEW and CMLL star Mistico will take on NJPW star and former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion El Desperado at NJPW x CMLL Lucha Kingdom.

The matchup will be a battle between the two currently reigning IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions. The event takes place on November 16. It will be held at Arena Mexico in Mexico City.

This will only be the second time the legendary wrestlers have faced each other one-on-one. They previously wrestled their first singles match at NJPW Dominion 2026 earlier in June in Osaka, Japan. El Desperado picked up the victory via submission.

Mistico and El Desperado also currently hold the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championships as Las Máscaras de Oro. They won the titles earlire in May at Wrestling Dontaku: Night 2, beating Ichiban Sweet Boys. They’ve held the belts for over 150 days.

Their rematch since Dominion has been in the works for a while, as Mistico wanted it on his “home turf.” The request has now been granted, and it will now be Mistico vs. El Desperado at Arena Mexico next month.
