AEW star and former World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) has just landed his next big movie role. Deadline reports that MJF has been cast opposite David Harbour for the upcoming Violent Night 2 for Universal Pictures and 87North.
MJF has also been cast along with influencer Andrew “King Bach” Bachelor. Deadline also reports that other new cast members include Kristen Bell, Daniela Melchior, Jared harris, and Joe Pantoliano. Hopefully, this means that Bell will portray Mrs. Claus, who was referenced but didn’t appear in the first movie.
Casting details for Violent Night 2 are currently unknown, including MJF and Bachelor’s characters. While plot details are currently being kept under wraps, the sequel will see the return of Harbour’s gruff and tough Santa Claus. In the first film, an embittered Santa Claus must take out a ruthless group of mercenaries and rescue a young girl and her family. Now, Good ‘Ole Saint Nick must suit up to save the day again in the sequel.
Tommy Wirkola returns to direct the sequel from a script by returning writers pat Casey and Josh Miller, who are also executive producing the project. 87North founders Kelly McCormick and David Leitch are producing the sequel under their first-look deal with Universal Pictures. This is the latest movie role for MJF after he recently appeared in Happy Gilmore 2 and The Iron Claw
Violent Night 2 is slated for a Wednesday, December 4, 2026 release.
