Brock Lesnar officially announced his retirement from the ring earlier this week on The Pat McAfee Show. Dave Meltzer provided more insight into the matter on today’s edition of Wrestling Observer Radio.

Initially, Lesnar appeared to retire after losing to Oba Femi at WrestleMania 42. WWE even moved his profile to the WWE.com alumni section. However, it was later shown to all be an elaborate angle to further Lesnar’s feud with Oba Femi.

According to Meltzer, the plan was always to have Lesnar retire with his match at SummerSlam, which was held on Lesnar’s home turf of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Meltzer stated, “Well, I mean, that was always the plan, for him to retire after SummerSlam this year. Now, the idea will he never come back? It’s a pro wrestler retiring. I mean, you know. I mean the way they did everything on TV on Monday, I thought, ‘Oh, they’re going to retire him, and he’ll come back at some point.’ They left the door open.”

Meltzer suggested that the best angle to bring back Brock Lesnar would be to have a reunited Vision attack Oba Femi. This would draw back Lesnar for a team-up with Femi against The Vision. He stated, “I like that idea. Oba calls him up, ‘I need a partner,’ and Brock comes back. I like that idea. So, I don’t know if he’ll do it, but you know, there’s always something.”

As previously reported, it’s rumored that multiple high-level WWE officials believe that Lesnar will be involved in some capacity at WrestleMania 43. The premium live event is being held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia next year.
