– During a recent edition of AdFreeShows’ Monday Mailbag, former WCW and WWE referee Nick Patrick discussed WCW wasting the talent of The Undertaker and Steve Austin in the 1990s. They would eventually leave WCW and signed with WWE to have illustrious careers there. Below are some highlights (via WrestlingInc.com):
Nick Patrick on former WCW booker Ole Anderson not seeing anything in The Undertaker: “The Undertaker and ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, both of those two just couldn’t seem to, to catch a break. Ole Anderson said, he was the booker at the time, he said, ‘People just aren’t ever going to pay money to see [Undertaker] wrestle.’
On knowing Steve Austin had it early on: “Oh, yeah. It was just a matter of time, you know, and I thought he was going to get it there. But, they never really, they never really got to show like he did up north. It was meant to be.”
