Nixon Newell & Miranda Alize AEW Situation Sparks Debate Among Indie Promoters

A recent report in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes that the ongoing AEW situation involving independent wrestlers Nixon Newell (FKA Tegan Nox in WWE) and Miranda Alize has become a point of debate among indie wrestling promoters. The topic has raised questions about whether the controversy could influence future bookings or ticket sales on the independent scene.

For those unaware, Nixon Newell and Miranda Alize reportedly walked out of last week’s Collision tapings due to a rumored three-minute match against Tay Melo and Anna Jay. However, Newell and Alize have since denied aspects of the reports.

According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, one person involved in the independent scene believed the increased attention around the situation may give Newell additional visibility. They note that the situation “became kind of the talk in wrestling and some indie promoters think that controversy will help sell tickets and they aren’t just two random women.”

However, one promoter who books independent talent expressed a different view. They stated that Nixon “isn’t gonna get work out of this. She wasn’t getting work before and was crying about it.” They also noted that she had trouble securing consistent bookings, citing concerns about her “asking way too much money” and selling “zero tickets on her name alone.” The promoter even called her “usual WWE brain rot.”

It remains to be seen whether Nixon Newell and Miranda Alize will return to AEW.
