NJPW Announces Fan Voting for Best of the Super Juniors 33 Awards

New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), on May 13, shared major news ahead of this year’s Best of the Super Juniors tournament.

As noted previously, the annual tournament will get underway tomorrow (May 14), with the winner to be crowned on June 7.

Earlier today, NJPW president Hiroshi Tanahashi revealed during a press conference that fans would be eligible to vote for three categories following the conclusion of the round-robin stage on June 3. The following are the categories:

– The Outstanding Performance Award: This will be given to a wrestler who fans feel best demonstrated their potential and ability in the ring during the league stage.

– The Fighting Spirit Award: A wrestler who fans feel exhibited a “never-say-die attitude in the face of overwhelming odds” will be bestowed with this award.

– The Technique Award: A competitor who shows “creative offensive flair within their matches,” per fans, will receive this award.

Similar to the recently announced “John Cena Classic,” every competitor, irrespective of their win-loss record in the tournament, will be eligible for these awards.

As always, wrestlers have been divided into two blocks. Block A features DOUKI, Nick Wayne, Robbie X, Francesco Akira, Titan, Valiente Jr., Kosei Fujita, Jun Kasai, Ryusuke Taguchi, and Master Wato.

Meanwhile, Block B features El Desperado, YOH, Daisuke Sasaki, KUSHIDA, Robbie Eagles, Jakob Austin Young, Taiji Ishimori, Hyo, SHO, and Yoshinobu Kanemaru.
