Hiroshi Tanahashi will have his retirement match at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 20, and a new report has details on the company’s plans to celebrate the legend. As you probably know, Tanahashi will face Kazuchika Okada at the January 4th show. It will put a wrap on the NJPW President’s in-ring career.
It’s probably not a surprise, but Fightful Select reports that a number of special stars will be in attendance for the show. The site reports that “additional stars” will be there beyond the booked talent in order to show respect to Tanahashi.
From what the site has been told, NJPW will have legends, former opponents and more at the show to show respect to Tanahashi. It will include at least one AEW star.
Specific names on which talent would be on hand were not revealed. NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 20 takes place on January 4th in the Tokyo Dome and airs live on Wrestle Kingdom. 411 will have live coverage of the event, which starts at 2 AM ET and airs on NJPW World.
