Note On When New Day Will Be Free Agents

A new report has confirmed the waiting period before the New Day will be free agents following their WWE exits. As you very, very likely know by now, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods have left WWE, having departed the company at the start of the month by mutual agreement when they were asked to take a pay cut in a restructuring of their contracts.

Sean Ross Sapp confirmed in response to a fan question in the latest Fightful Select Answers Q&A that, as expected, the two are under the typical 90 day waiting period that most main roster talent have in their contracts. As is always the case, these are not “non-compete clauses” as they are typically understood and the two are still technically under contract and being paid their original contracted salary during this time.

During this period, talent are likely able to speak with other companies. There is no real contract tampering in these cases as there’s no union or player’s association.

Given the 90 day period, the two New Day members will be free agents somewhere around the weekend of August 1st and 2nd.
