As noted, RAW General Manager Adam Pearce confirmed this past Monday night that Austin Theory and Bron Breakker of The Vision will defend the World Tag Team Championship against Penta and Je’Von Evans at WWE Crown Jewel 2026. The match came about following a series of attacks by The Vision on Penta and Evans in recent weeks.

However, in this week’s issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (WON), Dave Meltzer reported that this wasn’t the original plan for Crown Jewel. According to him, the original plan was to have a Trios match, with Bron Breakker, Austin Theory, and Bronson Reed taking on Penta, Je’Von Evans, and Oba Femi. However, it was ultimately changed to a standard tag match for the World Tag Team Championship, as the feeling within the creative team was that doing a six-man tag before the tag team championship match made little sense.

Though the World Tag Team Championship has been consistently defended by Austin and Theory at live events, this will be the first instance of The Vision duo defending the title on television since capturing it from The Street Profits on Monday Night RAW in early July.
