Paul Heyman had some jokes for the WWE-esque return that NFL star Christian Watson made during Thursday night’s game. The viral moment happed during last night’s Green Bay Packers game against Carolina Panthers where Watson, who was taken out of the stadium in an ambulance with a chest injury, returned in the third quarter. He showed up in the ambulance and exited out of the side door after he was cleared to return with extra padding despite a broken rib.
Heyman took to Twitter to poke fun at the moment and the NFL, referencing WCW Clash of the Champions XVII. He wrote:.
“We did this with @Sting in 1991 in WCW (vs Ravishing Rick Rude), and the industry has repeated it with great success in numerous circumstances.
My most sincere compliments to the @NFL’s creative team.
Nicely done!
I love football.
Even though it’s pre-determined.”
Watson finished the game with eight catches for 113 yards. The Packers, who were up 27 – 13 when he returned, ultimately won 27 – 19.
