Former WWE and ROH star Paul London has been officially added to the Battle Riot match at MLW Battle Riot VIII. Major League Wrestling announced the news earlier today.
London will be competing in the Battle Riot, which features 40 wrestlers entering in staggered intervals every 60 seconds. Eliminations in the match can occur by pinfall, submission, or being thrown over the top rope with both feet hitting the floor.
The Battle Riot has no disqualifications, so weapons and surprise attacks are all legal. The last competitor standing will receive a guaranteed shot at the MLW World Championship. With all that in mind, it makes sense why a competitor such as London would want to compete in such an intense and wild matchup.
Per MLW on Paul London entering Battle Riot, “London brings a true wild-card element to MLW’s biggest and most chaotic match of the year. Equal parts innovator, provocateur, and high-risk artist, London thrives where structure breaks down — making the Battle RIOT a uniquely dangerous playground for everyone else involved.”
The announcement notes that the Battle Riot also offers London a chance to make his career in one night: “For London, the RIOT represents more than just survival — it’s an opportunity to make a career in one night. With timing, awareness, and a deep understanding of controlled chaos, London could outmaneuver bigger, stronger opponents and turn the madness to his advantage.”
Paul London Joins a Competitive Field for the Battle Riot Match
The 45-year-old London is a former WWE Tag Team Champion and Cruiserweight Champion. The wrestler is the latest competitor to join the competitive Battle Riot scheduled for next month. Other wrestlers set to compete include former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion and WWE Cruiserweight Champion KUSHIDA, former WWE Tag Team Champions The Good Brothers (Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson), and Matthew Justice.
MLW Battle Riot VIII is scheduled for Thursday, January 29. The event takes place at the Osceola Heritage Park Events Center in Kissimmee, Florida. Tickets are available at MLWLive.com and Ticketmaster.
